If you are talking altcoins, its best to just invest in them for long term. The best coin to trade is BTC, this is because there is so much volume to BTC that you can even accumulate in trading with USDT.  In my experience its good to just try the new coins that you see to be a good investment. This will also need research on whether it is a possible scam or not.

I usually do not invest when the market is rally, i will always wait for a correction to invest and that too in top coins in the market list. Can you clarify what you meant by trade directly, did you meant booking your profit .  If you are looking for advice it would be great to convey what are the coins you are holding rather than giving broader terms.

There are many comments about this matter, and my stand is clear... when you wish to make more than you currently have you invest it and hope for success. It's gambling, you risk to gain more, because there's no risk-free investment! Remember that!
Investing in projects in the long run doesn't require time and energy, just capital for investing... you choose the best projects, and you invest and wait. Many think it's a lot safer than trading or gambling, where you risk is higher, and it can happen to lose your investment. Something that rarely happens to long run investors, when things get hot you can sell and safe some part of your initial investment!
Except risk, for trading you need time and energy! More you trade, means you will have to spend more time by the computer, you will need more energy... and for sure you will need knowledge about trading and how to successfully collect and analyze the market the current market conditions in order to make the right move!

Current market movements are quite effective for trading, market volatility is good enough for that.

however, this returns to your abilities, investing and trading require a different time commitment, besides that experience and capital are also very influential. there is nothing wrong with trying and adding to the experience, as long as you are ready to face the worst risks.

Invest on the coins that are potential to go up and trade it if it's very liquid and you have to trade it. Both of it are always correlated so whether you choose to trade or invest.
As long as you're good with it, and you do it correctly, keep doing what you're familiar with.

Not long ago, i realized i had a bad tendency to switch from asset to asset, to trade and look at the charts too much. It is better, i think, to target the projects in which you want to invest, then stick to them.

So, if (and yes ... still the famous 'if') I had held the assets I owned a year ago, then my portfolio would currently be at ... x40 a year later, which is not currently the case.

Trading is also a form of investment; just that with trading you get to leave your funds on the exchange or dex until you have ended the trade or taking profit. You do not have to be confused; investment can be in long term or short term where you get to move your tokens to your private wallet until it is time to take profits in batches.  I would advice that you study first and understand the difference between trading and investment and methods that can be applied to both; then i am sure you will make the right choice

It can be fun trading for example after they have pumped DOGE and XRP. I missed the XRP one completely. Trading is very time consuming but can be very profitable. I personally enjoy more doing research on twitter, whitepapers, the discord groups and maybe the Telegram to get a feel if I am interested in a project and see a chance for its succes. Doing research on crypto projects and joining nice communities can be a lot of fun in my experience.

for altcoins I will trade. and short-term trading seems better because it is quicker to make a profit than having to make very risky investments. because altcoin travel is unpredictable in the future

hey mate, investing is better than trading, indeed if you trade maybe you can get 500% -1000% more quickly, yes if you can be lucky, but if you invest in good projects I'm sure in this altcoin season the increase can also be 1000 % more, provided that you are investing in a good project not in unclear shitcoin.

It depends on the coins you have.
Some coins are not just worth keeping while others are worth.
Take for instant if the altcoin you have is XRP(Ripple). Do yourself a favour and hold unto it more. Its among the future coins.

have you seen the current performance market of xrp? few hours ago, it was more than 70 cents and plunged to 38 cents now. but anyway, if you believe this coin has really bright future, you can invest on this. but you have to be ready for what's to come. xrp is a vulnerable coin right now.
maybe once they get out of SEC's mess, it will be safer to  consider this coin in your portfolio. but right now, we dont know what their plans are. is there someone or group behind the recent pump? is that because XRP team finally gave their statement regarding their SEC prob? but their issue is not yet over. remember that

Investing and trading have something in common, they both have commitment, patience, skill and knowledge and lastly keep out of emotions. The only thing that is a bit different between the two is trading requires more of your time. If you aren't the type that sit beside your computer all day, I suggest you go with investing in whatever altcoin you want to put on your portfolio either for long or short term period. Though, you need to learn to do your own research, that way you're investing with due diligence.
Trading never works for me right from day one I started but buying good altcoins when the market plummet always give me good returns.

(a) if you go trading, you need to spend some time, although you need some basic to advance technical analysis, so the risk is still there.

(b) be just an investor, buy during the dip, be a long term holder, learn how to protect your account at all cost.

It's easy if we calculate like that, but in practice it is very difficult to do, because what we do today is based on events that haven't happened yet, and we don't know what will happen, while the analysis you do is based on events that have already happened, the same as people who sell Bitcoin for 4000 USD, they do not know if at that time the price of bitcoin will reach 40000 USD.
Invest or trade depending on the time you have, if you have a lot of trading time it is certainly better.
