You're right and no matter what happens, the boxer should trust his manager because he is the only one how to deal with the marketing strategy in the boxing industry. The boxers will just need to condition their body and practice some new skills to get some new fans and to be able to maximize their profit and with that, both parties are happy. No matter how Crawford wants this fight to happen if Bob doesn't see the profit he wants coming, it won't gonna happened this year or next year unless the Pacquiao team will add more to that offer.

The organizers were forced to lower the guaranteed purse, because they were not very confident about getting a large number of PPV buys, due to the location of the fight and the pandemic situation. In all probability, Pacquiao might have got what he was asking for (although not as guaranteed purse). I would still say that he was wrong in turning down the offer.

I can't get any official announcement regarding the numbers from the Crawford fight, because it was an informal offer which was made to Manny. But I think he is asking for too much. The guaranteed purse was $10 million for Manny's fights against Keith Thurman and Jeff Horn. And given the pandemic induced market decline, I think he should have gone with the initial offer.

It's the two way round and both promoter and the fighter must come with the same decision to agree with the match that they'll have. Yes, that's low but it's a decent amount of money, In his last fight against Thurman, he gets $10 million so that's the same amount. If only we are not in a pandemic right now and it's easy to generate revenue from a boxing fight, I'm sure even $50 million is not hard to achieve on Manny's fight.

I would say that breaking a contract is very unethical in any field. Now the athletes may offer some monetary compensation in return, but still it leaves a bad taste on everyone. If the contract is signed for a specific period of time, then my opinion is that the athletes should abide by the terms and conditions for that duration which is marked out. Everyone is aware of the terms when they sign the contract, and there is no point in complaining later that some of the conditions are too exploitative.

Another fighter of Bob that will not sign on his promotion if this will happen, however, if Bob does not really want that to happen, I guess he should give Crawford what he likes, but the question is, is he really serious about challenging Pacman?
