What you've mentioned in the post is the reality with the gamblers. At the same time there are people who have turned to be addicted gamblers considering gambling as an entertainment. They start as entertainment, in between they have a transition why don't we give a try. Gives a try and wins, this win makes them continue to gamble. Gambling serves as an entertainment to those who has no means of earning their way using gambling. If someone has an intention by being rich through the use of gambling then they may the one who will take the most damage emotionally and financially.

A common experience which most of us have experience is being able to earn and win before starting to loss which trigger us to gamble more and more as we've already experience winning. We even loss control and disregard all the rules we've implemented before gambling because of this.

In a game of chance and one is well aware that the house always wins I will go with fate! I was going to say lack of control only when you won a number of hands and never stopped but chose to play on which should be said is greed.

Poker is all about skills, mostly in bluff and counting the cards using probability to guess what your opponents has.  Fate and luck doesn't equates at all, they are entirely different. If you lose in poker just because of bluffs, it means that you lack in guts and doesn't trust your intuition, luck is already helping you to win but it is you who is rejecting it.

This style of entertainment increases the euphoria too much after each participation, the feelings of victory and defeat are the special spices of gambling, these spices seem to make us drop our selves, sobering then quarantine is okay but feeling these spices every day will easily be fascinated and become an addicting puppet. Fate is the thing which helps us to get the wins but having control is important as well. People also makes profit by betting crazily or with rage bets, fate is the main key on those times. Though in the end gambler loss all of it for not having control. Both are necessary for a gambler to maintain profit in the long term. As for the stock market, there are scientific studies (they are possible since the entire trading history is available) that show that shorting on average is unprofitable and buying is profitable. It is unlikely that this has serious weight in each individual situation, but the general state of affairs is obvious. While in gambling, your chances of winning are always negative.

If you take gambling "as an entertainment that pays sometimes for playing" then there won't be anything like self control on the long run becasue we are humans and our wants can't be satisfy. How does gambling addiction grow?  Gambling addiction gradually set in through the means of - let me make something small for myself today and tomorrow something bigger till such a gambler become a victim of addiction. So, i will rather said - take gambling as an entertainment to ease out stress -.
