Upon watching the qualifying rounds for the British Grand Prix, I was very happy to see Russell qualify within the top 10. It was very magical and fulfilling to hear the crowd roar upon Russel's qualification in his spot! Even with the oversteer made by Hamilton, he still managed to take the number 1 spot just a few milliseconds away of Verstappen snatching his victory. We could see that in Hamilton's performance, he is really hungry to win another title! 1 1: image taken from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m15AccB-O8

Watching the end of the practice race 3, Max is in the top spot with ferrari in 2nd and 3rd. Russell is 11th so not to far from his spot in the qualifying which is good for williams race team going into tomorrow's race. It is certainly great to hear the crowd on the british race grounds again.

It was expected that they would cheer for Hamilton, but to cheer for Russell wasn't really a weird situation neither, it is basically a given. However dude finished like 8th or something with the second worst car, by calculation the average expected of him is 17th, why? Because the other car is latifi at 18th and then worst cars 19th mick and 20th mazepin. Anything above that shows that dude is doing better than expected for the car he is given. However I have to say Williams is a great qualifying car, it is not as good of a race car. I feel like dude will hang tight in silverstone for a few laps at the best but I do not think that he will be racing for too long at those positions, he will once again be lower than points positions.

Tomorrow race should be a good one , right ? Lewis told after the Sprint Race that tomorrow he will bring his A game and also hopes for a good response from the fans. I do also think that Max has the necessary pace to keep that distance but start of the race should do the difference.
What is your opinion after the first Sprint Race in F1 history ? Personally I loved the first 7-8 laps when the action was hot with multiples cars fighting for positions.

I very much agree with this statement. Russell is just magical. The fact that he finished within the top 10 with a less-superior car shows his raw talent and skill on the racing field. I am kinda doubtful as to whether he should stay in Williams or to go to another team with a champion-contender car. I really do think that he'll have an opportunity soon to prove that he can definitely stay at the podium.

So I've been waiting to pull the trigger on Hamilton win, but the odds actually kept getting lower and lower -- and then this special came for him to win AND get fastest lap at 4/1 on Sportsbet.
Of course, that's my money in;) I mean, he's got to try and close the gap right guys?
Bottas tricked me last one, so if he actually wins this today, I'll be gutted to have missed 12/1;)

I ended up jinxing him lol, he has 3 places grid penalty and will start 12th place if I am not wrong. Williams is a mercedes junior car, and that means Mercedes basically already holds his contract and raised him so much, I doubt that they will let him go that easily. Bottas and Merc already has a lot of troubles this year, it is looking like they are going to have their differences come out public eventually and in that situation Merc could just hire Russel the moment they want, remember last year? He raced in the Mercedes car and was doing so good as well for a while. Long story short he will move to Mercedes soon and take Bottas' place, it could be either sometime inside the season when everything boils over, or it could be at the end of the season but I do not see Bottas staying for too long which leaves the door open for George to take over.

Edit and by that my bet is went flying, Verstapppen is out after the contact with Hamilton.

Damn, this is looking good for me. I did the Hamilton 4/1 Special (but he also needs to have the fastest lap) and I got Bottas 11/1 (should have taken 12/1 with boost would have been 14/1 maybe!). Hamilton's 10-sec penalty shouldn't do much but he needs to win this race to get the season back on track!
AND my 4-3-free has LeClerc to finish top among the options, so I hope to get something out of this race.

What a shocking start it was! Just as I expected, the race started with a high competition between Verstappen and Hamilton for the 1st place. Verstappen defended him really well until a point. But they had a huge crash and Verstappen was through the barriers unfortunately. Hamilton got a 10 sec penalty for that but I still think that it was Verstappen's fault. Verstappen just pushed his luck too much there.
Now, Leclerc is still leading the race. He has a decent gap with Hamilton (2 sec). The pit strategies will be really important. If Ferrari does a strong pit stop with Leclerc, I think that Leclerc has a really big chance to even win the race.

And after screwing my bet Hamilton still ends up winning. Ferrari team should have told Leclerc to push harder the minute Hamilton started shipping a second every lap. I liked how Leclerc managed to stay ahead of Hamilton at the restart of the race and kept Luis behind despite having an inferior car. Damn, this is looking good for me. I did the Hamilton 4/1 Special (but he also needs to have the fastest lap) and I got Bottas 11/1 (should have taken 12/1 with boost would have been 14/1 maybe!). Check sacrificed 10th spot so he can put soft tires and take the fastest lap from Luis so that it would be a point less then he would taken.

How many probes Mercedes need to cut out Bottas? Everybody see today he cant cut a 10 seconds gap to leclerc, then comes Hamilton and pass he and cut all the gap whit no effort.
And for me its a race incident the crash between LH and MV. Leclerc deserves the win but the pace in that hard compound was shit.

All's over and Hamilton 1st place, and got the fastest lap time too -- very tight -- so I booked that nice 4/1 Special from Sportsbet -- first major win for me for the last two months, very pleased with myself. Just didn't think it'd be that close to 2nd -- had it over 12 secs from 2nd.
It still took a nasty 1st lap accident, bet you Lewis knew exactly what he was doing there. The only way to stop Verstappen from running away with this race. Wide open now.

nope Hamilton didn't win the Fastest lap as Perez pitted in the last couple laps and put on slightly used Soft tires to take The fastest lap point from Hamilton so i don't think you won the special bet on Hamilton.

Yeah you're right. Just found out. Stupid me. I guess I got confused then, because to get the point for fastest lap, you also have to finish in the top 10, and Perez only finished the race in 16th. In fact, him changing to soft tires to get that point was precisely why they made the rules for only Top 10;) But either way, you're right, I just checked and that bonus point didn't go to anyone in Top 10 so ouch for me. Shoulda known that was too good to last =(

I am really happy to see a Ferrari back in the podium once again! They've been struggling last season but I think they're making a huge comeback this year. With regard to Verstappen's crash, I think it's partly Hamilton's fault for not giving enough room on the right side of the corner. Even with the slightest contact, Max flew like a stick and crashed into the barrier. When you're driving around 300 kph on corners, it is to be expected that you have to give some room especially if you are the one overtaking.

I don't think that it was his intentions to touch his wheel because in that scenario both cars could have spin or Hamilton gets at least a puncture, he did some damage to his wing but miraculously didn't need to pit and change it, just some glue and duct tape and it was all good to go back.

Ferrari did need to be seen up there so to still stay relevant in the upcoming races. Leclerc did a superb job in holding the bulldog as long as he did. And with the crash, I don't think it was Hamilton's fault at all. He knew if he let Verstappen through, then the race was lost. As were these similar outcomes in the past. He was just lucky Max didn't get injured at all (maybe a bruised knee or ankle) to cost him so not be able to appear in a race or two. Then I think the penalty would of been more serve during and after the race. There seems to be a rule that if you are inside of the curve and more than half a length of your car is next to that outside car, the curve "belongs" to you. They are discussing now and Hamiltons argues in his own favor of course, but that was never half a length of Hamilton's car. Hamilton couldn't give up emotionally in that situation since it is his home race. What I would dislike very much is if Hamilton wins the championship with a couple of points ahead. If you kick your hardest competitor out like this, that's just bad for the competition.
