There was a big upset as Jaime Munguia was knockout by Bruno Surace in his hometown of Tijuana, Mexico.

Munguia was a huge favorite going into this fight and he has been looking to fight rival Puerto Rico's Edgar Berlanga after this one. But it's obvious that it might not happen for now, as Munguia will have to go back to the drawing board.

So this is a big challenge for him, but I think he can still make a name, he is still very young and maybe we can see a rematch between the two.

Rematch for sure will happen next year before fighting Berlanga. It's just very frustrating if you're a fan of Munguia to see your fighter losing in your own hometown. All of the fans are stunned when they see it, and it's very quiet in the arena.

Yeah, I do agree, this could be the upset of the year, as majority thought including myself that this is going to be an easy fight for Munguia. And this fight is in front of hometown and so he did good in the early stages as he knockdown Surace in round 2.

But Surace was still standing and was not ready to give up. And so Munguia was very careless during that round as he put his hands down and not playing defense. And Surace counter him with a big right. I guess the stock of Munguia has went down from this big upset. And I'm seeing that his lost to Canelo Alvarez was big as he was not the same anymore, specially his chin.

So it's very hard weight class, you have Emmanuel Navarette leading this division. And then we have O'Shaquie Foster and Lamont Roach (who will be fighting Tank Davis), as well in the mix. Although it's good to see Magsayo slowly climbing up and has been ranked in 4 boxing bodies. I think he needs one more fight here, a solid opponent who is rank in the top 3 and if he wins, then that could be his perfect opportunity.

I do not think that there are tools to help us bet smarter, there are odds and that's what we are looking for.

Regarding the fight between Martinez and Ioka, it was postponed due to Martinez health issues,

The World Boxing Association (WBA) super flyweight title fight between Fernando Martinez and Kazuto Ioka, which was to take place on December 31, has been cancelled due to health problems of the Argentinean champion, according to his team at a press conference on Monday in Tokyo, Japan.

His manager Rodrigo Calabrese explained to ESPN Knockout that since last December 25, the Argentinean had felt some fever and was later diagnosed with Influenza, so he could not recover for the fight.

Since he was not able to give his 100%, they decided not to fight in a fight as important and demanding as this one against Ioka and the fight will not take place.

The evening will go ahead with the rest of the fights originally scheduled. The WBA wishes Martinez a speedy recovery and looks forward to his return to the ring for what will be the first defense of his 115-pound crown.

This could be a sign that he might have a upcoming fight for this year, or probably just trying to show it off to Ryan Garcia as his ban is going to be lift this April if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, I do not think that Haney is man enough to face Ryan again. He posted on his social media that he will be back in March. And him and Teo Lopez are going back in forth in Twitter, but obviously, Haney is also not fighting Teo as he will be facing Matias. So we still don't know who Haney is targeting for his comeback fight. But I reckon that it's going to be a light and tune up fight so that he will have his confidence back after he lost to Ryan Garcia. And other says it is against a old Adrian Broner, but let's see, plenty of good boxers at 140 lbs that he can face to get just low risk fight. And not to be outdone, Ryan is also going on his twitter declaring that he is also making a comeback, that is after his suspension this April.

And that is the strategy of Ryan Garcia, he picture himself as a derange man and everyone fell for it. But in the fight itself, it was a totally different Garcia, as he was the bigger fighter and punch harder and even brought Haney many times in the canvass.

So that is a mental scar for Haney and I doubt that he can recover from such beating that Garcia gave to him. And on the other hand, they are contented to file charges against Ryan Garcia and his team. But as fans, we can't erase it, we are going to remember it even when this two retired, it will a ghost that will haunt Haney.

I've been hearing about news lately about the potential fight between Canelo Alvarez and Bud Crawford.

I know it's too early and the source might not be good, but we all know that when there is a smoke, there is a fire. For instance former boxer turned analyst/commentator Timothy Bradley wants this fight and favor Crawford (obviously, he has a hate on Canelo).

And then as what has been posted, Devin Haney too will make a comeback and his father/trainer says that they will improved more on his defense as we all know that Haney doesn't have a good chin and has been crack by Ryan.

Both have good boxing IQ, and they can adjust on the fly depending on the type of their opponents. I'm not trying to nitpick, but I think that Crawford might have a good chance to beat Canelo by decision. He might not have the power, but maybe he can used a similar style when Bivol beats Canelo. The blueprint is already there, Crawford just need to be very busy, throws more punches that he used to, and uses his jab more and take advantage of this length. And imagine the magnitude of this fight and obviously it will be in Saudi and this two are going to be paid handsomely by Turki.

^ Yes, I do agree that Usyk should be the fighter of the year, unified the Heavyweight division and then defeated Tyson Fury again. And I saw a lot of post in X about this event, it's huge almost everyone was there. You can see Dubois and AJ talking and stepping aside their rivalry, and then Canelo as well was there, so this is really a huge event.

Right, and there are really a lot of noise that this fight is going to be made, so let's see. Canelo has been seen in the picture with HE Turki in the ring award. So perhaps they have settled their beef already, but it doesn't mean that Canelo is going to move as he is asking a huge $150 million purse to fight Crawford.

And since Crawford is being back by the powerful broker, I think he will do everything in his power and his pocket to see that this fight is going to be made. Although he could brokered the fight between Ryan and Devin for that rematch.

Although Ryan said that he wants the Haney's to drop the lawsuit and then just settled everything in the ring, I think it make sense.

I've read the short article, and I saw that Fury also announced his retirement after defeating Whyte in 2022 but returned 6 months after, and because of this, it came to my mind "Well, he can just return whenever he wants to hence, voiding his retirement." Anyway, if this is true then we might not see a Joshua-Fury fight then.
