Dear fellow users,

Let me explain the situation im in with Stake.com,
I am a recovering gambling addict with an account at Stake due to problem gambling.

This account has been closed for a long time and they still kept spamming me with promotional and bonus emails, even though they were fully aware of my problems.

I have contacted live support and the legal department, and they have admitted their was a error in their database allowing to send promotional emails to problem gamblers, they have let me know they have fixed it after my messages.

Unfortunately Stake is not taking any responsibility regarding my issue and will blame me for their mistakes.

I hope there is someone noticing the pain Stake is causing to some of the problem gamblers out there, and I still hope Stake will solve this issue with me.

I am very much in favor of responsible gambling and one of the things I don't like about many crypto casinos is that they don't have responsible gambling features, although if they are non-kyc it is almost impossible to implement them.

As for the case you tell us, we can not check if it is a mistake or not. I can believe that it is a mistake and I can also distrust them, neither would surprise me.

But once they have recognized their mistake and fixed it, what do you expect? That they would give you compensation? As they say in the screenshot, you might as well have blocked their emails.

I don't know if you really have a case against them based on what you've posted so far. Did you play again after receiving those promotional emails and lost money? Or was it because of mental and emotional "damage" from temptations that you are complaining about?

Maybe you could get something from their mistake of not removing your account from their email blasts.

All the same, I do not quite understand, if a person has a gambling addiction and he is struggling with it, trying to recover, then all the same it is necessary to foresee in advance all the options for influencing the psyche.  Including reminders about casinos and gambling.  Of course, first of all, knowing about possible promotions and sending by e-mail, you should block such letters in a timely manner.  So I think it was just in the process of getting rid of the gambling addiction that the OP made a mistake himself.  Maybe the OP just didn't think about it, accidentally forgot to do it.  But I don't think casinos should be blamed for sending such letters.  Although we do not know the details, they too may have ignored the OP's request to exclude his mail from the advertising mailing list.  But in any case, for reliability, it was necessary to block all incoming letters from the casino.

The Stake team has notified me that this actually was a database error and has been fixed after my message, I have also provided them with proof that I recieved those emails on the account that was closed for gambling problems. They should however compensate the account I created after I recieved those promotional emails, I am not talking about the account that is already closed for problem gambling.

I understand you, and agree that I should have blocked those promotional emails. However I didnt do that and since I was already a recovering gambling addict and succesfully quit for a year after confessing everything to my parents. I would like to explain the whole story but I dont think its suitable to share with everyone here online. Lets just say my gambling problems have been very intense, and the struggle is real. Stake however made a mistake and they are not solving this the way they are supposed to do. Everyone knows its a very dirty thing to keep spamming a problem gambler with promotional emails. Stake will just blame me for creating another account, and people here will just tell me I should have blocked those emails. It is an offence for a casino to keep sending promotional email to excluded accounts tho.

Thank you for the usefull information! My story is true and I am already working with third party complaint processors to solve this issue. I have first ofcourse tried to solve this many times with Stake's support team, but that didn't get me anywhere. I would ofcourse prefer to solve this issue directly with Stake without the need of a third party complaint team or gambling regulator.

As for contacting this user "Stunna" how would I proceed? By just sending him a private message?

Yes I have a case against them, also I have alot of more proof from Stake themself and from contact with them.
However im not putting this out here now at this moment to prevent damaging of their reputation. They basically blame me for errors they made, which I do not agree with. I think they should take full responsibility for their mistakes. Stake cares about problem gamblers afterall, right?

I think maybe the site has a particular timeframe that those messages would stop coming. Op didn't really say what the problem was and how long the problem happened but in any case he has informed the service to stop servicing him , that should actually settle his case as he is no longer interested as he is going away from being a gambling addict. I do understand however that they own him a responsibility to deactivate his account for further messages by themselves.

This problem has been ongoing for almost a year now, they kept sending me messages for around 1 year, while all that time my account was locked for problem gambling. After recieving those christmas mails got a relapse and sadly started gambling again. They have fixed the issue now, but they didnt solve the damage caused to me.

Alright as I see here, there seems to be a major disregard for problem gambling out there, I do think they do not understand how big that issue is for certain people and certain families and at the end of the day, they should have apologized and taken it more seriously. On the other hand you should have also reported the mail as spam and blocked it, but as a recovering addict I do understand that it might be hard to do that.
I do think you should seek professional help, it doesn't even have to be expensive since most of the times, the government and the insurance company would pay for it, making it easier for people to approach with. It's a serious issue and can cause long term damage, not just on your economic status but on your mental health as well.
I hope you get better soon.

Well i don't think that Stake.com had bad intentions there. I think they just still had you on the list of people that receive their newsletter and other promotional e-mails. If you have contacted them in order to take you from that list and they failed to do so for whatever reason that is a shame and of course very unfortunate for you when you are trying to avoid falling back into your gambling habits. I think it is just very hard to prove that they did this on purpose, you would need to have an insider that knows about this stuff in order to prove this. I mean i would make sense though because they know that you have addiction and therefore they can make a lot of money with you, but again i doubt that they are that evil.

It's an honest mistake no need to post or complain or make a big issue out of it, blocking them is the easiest thing to do, you could just hit unsubscribe and you will never read anything about Stake.com, Stake.com is very clear in their TOS about gambling addiction it's your responsibility to yourself to have control, it looks like you are not yet cured on your addiction that is why you are having issues on casinos like Stake.com, just the mention of their name makes you angry,
You are certainly not aware of the fact that a casino is simply not allowed to send promotional emails to excluded accounts. Casino's have a responsibility to protect problem gamblers. Like I already said I wouldn't have made such a big issue out of it if Stake took their responsibility, yet they blame me for their mistakes. If you saw the full conversation of me with Stake, you wouldn't make such a comment.

The Stake team has notified me that this actually was a database error and has been fixed after my message, I have also provided them with proof that I recieved those emails on the account that was closed for gambling problems. They should however compensate the account I created after I recieved those promotional emails, I am not talking about the account that is already closed for problem gambling.

I'm really sorry that you have gambling problems and I sincerely wish you to get well soon. Until you are recovered you will be always blaming gambling sites, your friends, members of your family, saying that they owe you money etc., while the one thing to blame here is your disorder.

Find a good specialist who can help you to cope with your addiction. That's what you really need, not the money from Stake, or any other place, to gamble more with it and only worsen your condition.

If this was an email isn't it possible for you to unsubscribe from their promotional emails on your side? Pretty sure Gmail and a lot of similar others have the option. That, or you can go straight to your stake account and disable it from there. There's also the option of putting everything that came from the said user (in this case, stake) to be automatically put in spam. There might even be an option where they're automatically deleted though I'm not sure about that one.

There might've been some difficulties I suppose if it still hasn't been fixed, just keep contacting them or altogether just block the account sending you emails if you're that much in a hurry. Just keep up with being responsible and even if they entice you, control yourself. After all, that's your end goal, so even if it was placed in front of you, just grit your teeth and stop yourself from trying to gamble.

It's not a big problem for me as I don't use my real email on gambling sites. Well, I think you can block emails from certain email address, maybe you can use that feature. If you are a problem gambler and you just want to quit, then just avoid any contact from the site, why not just disregard the emails you are receiving, it should not affect you if you are in the healing process.

Exactly this. I have told them they are not aware of the pain and suffering of problem gambles and their loved ones. Seeing my mother cry over this breaks my heart and really makes me want to stop gambling. Lets just hope someone from Stake will take responsibility. Thank you for your warm words.

If this is causing you such a pain maybe you have to leave the addiction style, I think it will normalize your pain and agony because after a while pains and sadness have a way they can naturally be cured after a while that we distant ourselves from whatever that is causing us the pain.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened but I hope that you'll recover from your losses soon. I'm also receiving updates and promotional emails from Stake.com but that's my choice. If you aren't comfortable receiving emails from them then just hit the unsubscribe button. Blocking them would also be your option but as for me, as long as you know how to gamble responsibly and you know how to put limits on things, you shouldn't get bothered by the emails that you're receiving from them.
