This news can’t be disregarded if at all Qatar ends up wining the match. But there’s no proof to back up this claim yet. We all know it will be disheartening for the host nation to lose on their first match but going to the extent of giving bribery to win a match is totally bad. The odds are in favour of Ecuador, they have the players to win this match for them. Can they come up with these last minute changes in the tactics? I know that Qatar is a Muslim country and beer is not allowed in their religion but then why they allowed beer in the first place. I think FIFA will take action on this as most of international visitor will be needing the beer while watching the match and they may not feel good about this ban.

Hope it's fake news but I expect everything from these people. The process of giving the World Cup to Qatar was already dubious enough. Now it makes perfect sense that they offered money in the opening match so as not to be disgraced with a humiliating score. Even such a possibility is enough to cast a shadow on the tournament. it's funny to me that this is a big deal, what is alcohol going to bring or add to the world cup ? Absolutely nothing, it probably would reduce some crazy acts from drunk people and that's it, I think it will run just fine in Qatar without alcohol, it won't affect it at all.

It is a big deal if beer is being denied to football fans. And let's not forget the fact that Budweiser is one of the sponsors for this world cup. They paid big bucks for the sponsorship rights. Previously Qatari officials had stated that they would make beer available within the stadiums. They went back on their word, two days before the start of the tournament. Anyway, serves the FIFA right. Next time they should think twice before allowing such stone age nations to host a major tournament. For the fans, my advice is to watch the matches on television. It is not worth to travel to Qatar at this point.

I'm not sure it will affect ticket sales. not all football fans who come to Qatar are people who will consume alcohol in the stadium. no alcohol, but still have cola or other drinks. but to be honest, I'm sure the news of the ban will not have a big impact on the fans who come to the stadium to watch the matches of their favorite country's teams.
