I recently saw some reports about Qatar from footballers who have played there. They say it's not as hot there as people think. Okay, during the day it can be 35 degrees or slightly warmer, but when the sun starts to go down it cools down pretty quickly and then the weather isn't that hot at all. I think that is a huge advantage for the teams, so that you can look for a moment of cooling in the evening. That wouldn't have been possible otherwise. I think the last time we had a World Cup in Asia was in South Korea in 2002? But I think it was still very warm in the evening. I don't expect many surprises in the group stage but I am curious what Spain - Germany will be.

Many different repots about weather in Qatar because one person who is already living and having some good adjustment about weather is surely going to be had different view with a person is going to be there for few days, and he has to done job in ground under open sky with as we all know whether in European countries is completely different in these months from the Middle East. Still, as we have few negative news about weather sometime back now coming into positive for many players and teams which is surely a positive news because
with this we will be having not bad impact on player's performance, and they could be able to give their best under these circumstances.

But, keep one thing in mind Middle East weather is surely going to have impact on few European countries players otherwise mostly will be done good and feel much prefer able because they can adjust with this all quickly.

My guess is that Google has a prediction for each of these matches, and there was a mistake in the UI and the prediction was displayed instead of the real teams which are still TBD.

I think events like this might even change the betting sites odds.

Google already shows probability of win, I'll show you an example:



There's a match between Barcelona vs Inter, will be tomorrow and Google shows the probability of winning
So it's safe to say Google is running some numbers to define the odds since they don't provide the source of a third party.

I think they did a mistake, like you said, so, according to math and statistics, the final will be Brazil vs France

Yes, it definitely doesn't look like a leak, because even if they think the Brazil-France final is the most likely, there is no point in publishing this prediction since the probability of this event could be 5% or less. Maybe this is the most likely final compared to other combinations of teams, but when compared with the total probability - 95% of other options, then there is no point in making such loud predictions so that later everyone points out the mistake to you.

I don't think they do, it's probably just an internal data.

Some people are trying to understand how Google calculates these probabilities and it seems it's all quite private.

At least there are some explanations in that link that might help understand the model a bit better, but we really don't know how accurate it is from outside Google.

maybe I'm just playing the devil's advocate here but don't you think all teams go with everything they have to win?
I mean, of course some have best chances, and some have more desire,
but in the end, no team goes to the field thinking it won't be the next winner

@Sithara007 you’re correct because France is over relying on Pogba, who even though hasn’t played much this season will get a walk in the playing 11 provided he’s fit, and that will further create discontent between the player’s. Also Brazil has Casemiro, Anthony besides Neymar so they’re very strong heading in the World Cup, lastly I don’t think that even *Argentina could beat them in the World Cup (*if they clash during the course of the tournament).

I never expected that Argentina could be that eager this year. Italy has been unbeatable for a long time and it may be at risk because of its current standing. It seems that Argentina has prepared well before facing Italy which their opponent never expected as well. Let's see how Italy will defend its status but I'm rooting for Argentina to change its record.
