You all still think it's a good idea to bring in an Arsenal defender for GW6+?

Our defenders will probably have more work to do in GW4 (North London derby) with our midfield challenges with Rice suspended and Odegaard with the sprained ankle, Caliofori not likely to play too, and some uncertainty with Timber. Tottenham have all the advantage, even the advantage of playing at home. We can still win them though, but I doubt we will do it with a clean sheet.

Then in GW5 against Manchester City, they are a very good attacking side; even better this season, I am not sure that we will be able to stop them from scoring.  Our GW6 fixture is against Leicester, GW7 against Southampton, GW8 against Bournemouth. Arsenal defenders will be able to keep clean sheets in these games.

They are certain of Rice being able to hold his position and return when the ball is against Arsenal but Timber has never held that position before. Caliofiri has yet to sync with the team, it will be a difficult task at first for him unless otherwise. With Odegard on injury and no information yet if he will play in GW4. I don't know if I'd agree about Man City been better than Arsenal, I know it's all going in a positive direction for Man City right now but their usually heavy squad depth have taken a significant hit offensively mostly, Rico Lewis is doing the heavy lifting of Kyle Walker alone, Foden hasn't been fit, Julian Alvarez is gone, what happens should Haaland pick up a knock or need a rest, Gundongan as a false 9 would then be their best bet ?

Man City might be having it all go their way right now, but I don't think they're far from becoming really vulnerable in the blink of an eye.

Now I am getting confused. What you are talking about is absolutely correct for regular transfers, don't do them early in international breaks or CL weeks. WC is different beast and international break is actually quite nice spot to use it. You have 2 weeks to earn money on price changes, you can actually bring players before they rise and then on last day decide to keep them or not. Maybe even actually make some money. For instance during this break you could have sold Watkins for Joao Pedro and then back to Watkins and earn 0.1M in the process. Probably few defenders as well.

I made early moves to Joao Pedro and Salah before price rises and falls for the guys I had in my team, saving myself 0.3M. In case some other injury happened I would have used WC since I would like to sort my defense anyway. Have Barco and Hall on the bench who are at this point basically non factors in FPL but as it stands I will have to look at them for few more GWs.

Not saying it's bad choice, but I've seen managers hit the WC in the first week of the international break; why not wait until the second week or after all of the games? I'm not obsessed with player prices, and I don't enjoy trading players for profit; I just afford what I can and deal with that.

I have 80% of the WC drafts I've seen; the only part lacking from my team is Salah. I have a solid team for GW4, so I'm rolling my FT and hoping to grab Salah in GW6, or use my WC if necessary. Captaincy delema this weekend.

Because you are only gaining by hitting it as early as possible if you are 100% certain you are gonna wildcard.

If you are not, than by all means wait and see what injury situation will be like at the end of int. break. Or do it like me, make few early transfers and then decide on deadline day if you are gonna wildcard or not. Currently standing at -8 and 50:50 chances to use it. I sort of think 0.5M gained is worth -4, -8 not so much. But then I want to keep WC for GW6 or GW7.

Oh, with the amount of knowledge that is also at play with keeping the books here, perhaps in the future there should be a little allocation for the most expensive squad at the end of the season, at least there will be something else to fight for that doesn't require getting when Haaland or Salah is going wreck havoc right.

Otherwise you will get people just looking price predictions and making money without any regard to the game. When you check most valuable squads they are always from the players way down the ranks that are taking hits every week to catch those changes.

Otherwise you will get people just looking price predictions and making money without any regard to the game. When you check most valuable squads they are always from the players way down the ranks that are taking hits every week to catch those changes.

You got a point on that since a player would just take all the points hit in the world to get certain players in each week, but If the prize is set just at let say the buy-in fee, it's going not to make any sense to play the entire season monitoring and just making transfer with zero interest on the primary goal of the game.

I didn't think I'd be faced with such a heavy indecisive mindset after the international break, I'm really so caught up in between using the wildcard and playing with transfers as passively as possible, and while it's seeming like a moot point to use the wildcard given the uncertainty with a number of players for this week, the need to structure my team for the next 3-4 game weeks is paramount and 2-3 transfers for this game week would not help as I might still need to pull the WC trigger next week.

Hits are bad, everyone knows that but I feel like everyone is a bit to afraid to take them. Maybe because all the content creators are dead set against them.

I look at it in a different way, hits just to switch some player that is perfectly fine like Eze to Madueke are plain stupid. But if you made a wrong call like I did when I went with Hall and Barco are justified. I am missing squad depth and that -4 for Hall to Dunk should pay off themselves in next two games.

Also I am always more inclined to make hits early in the season to catch price rises and rectify mistakes. Later on we have more info and it is easier to plan ahead.

I took a shit load of points hit last season and I don't think it's the way to go but you are right majority of mine last season was from one healthy player to another simply because I believe the other he's having a way better fixture, I don't recall any of those transfers ever justifying the 4 points hit.

I’m finding it hard to get the full glimpse here, if it’s about the future which no one knows just yet which player could be the next to get injured or fall out of rotation again I suppose that’s where the free transfer comes into play since these players aren’t going into your starting lineup, would it not have been better to use the future free transfer to get them out rather than pay -8 points for bench players if the wild card is apparently considered too expensive and more so when you’re just one or two game weeks away from using the wildcard anyway, or maybe this where it all balls down to individual approach/strategy and plan for each chip/free transfers.

There is no solid update on the issue from any source, and as per Guardiola press conference he said it's yet to be known if Haaland will be mentally available for the match, my guess is he will play.

Luis Diaz played for Liverpool even when he had some family challenges. I know Diaz is different from Haaland, and each player has different ways of handling things and reacting to serious situations, but it is possible that Haaland plays and then makes sure to score a goal in honor of his close friend who he just lost.
