I think nothing is wrong with Watkins, it's likely the same case with Cole Palmer, these are just necessary precautions taken by the players as they're reported to be recovering from minor issues they were playing with, barring any new issues, then I don't think either of them is at a risk of not playing over the coming game week.

That is called "international team injury". In other words players skipping on not important games for national teams in order to nurse minor inconveniences or just get back to full fitness. I think Watkins will actually benefit a lot from this international break while many South Americans and Asians will have fitness problems. Some of them are playing on Wednesday night

Yes but i also think in this "first" international break is not so much important the rest you can get for not playing because is not so much the stress acumulated or the fatigue in this part of the season, but yes most in the middle of the season this breaks can bring back some player to full level.

I think South America and Asia are both on the same table here, because aside the long travels they often player their matches the latest too, when Europe are usually done by Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the latest, there formers usually play into very late on Thursday while some players won’t even be able to return to club side full training before the next match day.


Perhaps, I should also suspend my potential Joao Pedro move, and opt for another choice even if it’s just a 1-2 game weeks choice.

With Pedro Porro playing so advanced up the pitch, you would ideally have both of them but if you've got three premiums that is almost impossible without leaving the rest of your squad threadbare.

Can't have either of those + Trent if you want Salah and Haaland.

Young dude is bigger than I imagined. Bring him in, and I would absolutely play Bottler League 2.0 (table position is irrelevant; it's a new ritual for the second half of the season). There are numerous ways to lure him in. I'd like to see if his FPL skills are as awful or better than yours. It's only for the culture.

That sounds a bit counter-intuitive, no? You wildcard only if you have to, and with that in mind, it makes sense that during the international breaks is better for getting shielded from all these injuries than in between gameweeks.

Our defenders will probably have more work to do in GW4 (North London derby) with our midfield challenges with Rice suspended and Odegaard with the sprained ankle, Caliofori not likely to play too, and some uncertainty with Timber. Tottenham have all the advantage, even the advantage of playing at home. We can still win them though, but I doubt we will do it with a clean sheet.

Then in GW5 against Manchester City, they are a very good attacking side; even better this season, I am not sure that we will be able to stop them from scoring.  Our GW6 fixture is against Leicester, GW7 against Southampton, GW8 against Bournemouth. Arsenal defenders will be able to keep clean sheets in these games.

No- These are not just international friendly games; they are qualifiers, and for the past two seasons, the majority of injuries have occurred during international games and less in-between league games. Using a wildcard during a qualifiers international break is risky and not worth it.. Imo.

Now I am getting confused. What you are talking about is absolutely correct for regular transfers, don't do them early in international breaks or CL weeks. WC is different beast and international break is actually quite nice spot to use it. You have 2 weeks to earn money on price changes, you can actually bring players before they rise and then on last day decide to keep them or not. Maybe even actually make some money. For instance during this break you could have sold Watkins for Joao Pedro and then back to Watkins and earn 0.1M in the process. Probably few defenders as well.

I made early moves to Joao Pedro and Salah before price rises and falls for the guys I had in my team, saving myself 0.3M. In case some other injury happened I would have used WC since I would like to sort my defense anyway. Have Barco and Hall on the bench who are at this point basically non factors in FPL but as it stands I will have to look at them for few more GWs.

Goals galore indeed, both teams to score, yellow cards for fatigue...just not sure if the red cards can land because English league has some disciplined players.. otherwise seen alot of FPL targeting this game week for the wild card which I see to be a gamble.

They are certain of Rice being able to hold his position and return when the ball is against Arsenal but Timber has never held that position before. Caliofiri has yet to sync with the team, it will be a difficult task at first for him unless otherwise. With Odegard on injury and no information yet if he will play in GW4. I don't know if I'd agree about Man City been better than Arsenal, I know it's all going in a positive direction for Man City right now but their usually heavy squad depth have taken a significant hit offensively mostly, Rico Lewis is doing the heavy lifting of Kyle Walker alone, Foden hasn't been fit, Julian Alvarez is gone, what happens should Haaland pick up a knock or need a rest, Gundongan as a false 9 would then be their best bet ?

Man City might be having it all go their way right now, but I don't think they're far from becoming really vulnerable in the blink of an eye.
