I read the new FPL rules and first built the optimal protection in which 3 - 4.5m / 2 - 4m. But I came across an interesting and rather logical post on Reddit, and decided that we all still have to deeply edit our teams in the first five weeks (due to the current uncertainty of the rotation). And I decided to buy expensive players that I could, if necessary, rotate to those I need (since it’s easier to sell a Haaland than to get him when you need him).

Defenders were super nerfed last season by extended extra time, which both reduced shithousery during normal time and provided more opportunities for late goals. Defender value therefore fell off a cliff. The bps changes this season also compound this disadvantage.

That said, FPL pricing is linear, BUT points potential is not. The best value defenders (VAPM) are still the most expensive options at 6M and above (i.e. the outliers underpriced by the linear structure). It is therefore viable (and arguably optimal) to target e.g. a Trent/Robbo/Gvardiol defence for Liverpool's incredible start to the season.

Feeling a bit of FOMO without my fantasy password. Usually by this time I am already well up in drafts and tinkering with my squad. As it is I didn't even start with the research. Still plenty of time though and early drafts usually don't last with me anyway so no harm done.

I perceive FPL and creating drafts as a time killer (and I am often afraid to go to reddit because as soon as I start taking with drafts, I don’t notice how 4-5 hours pass).

Still haven't decided what's better... to have a good defense + haland and salah or to have minimal defense for rotation but strong midfielders and forwards. With the change in scoring rules it's become a dilemma for me.

I don't know how that team would fare for the long run, I guess I'll bookmark this post and check the total points accumulated by each player here come the end of the season, I already have a good estimate for the like of TAA, Robertson, Salah and Haaland, but as for those differentials, meeh! From the result of the game, where Chelsea conceded four goals, it is not good looking for Chelsea's new coach, and shows he still has a lot of work to do in the team.

Whatever Enzo Maresca is doing with Chelsea, he has to do it quickly, their first EPL game next season is against Manchester City.

Did you follow Chelsea's preseason matches last season ? If you did, I'm sure you'll take whatever you saw from them in this preseason with a pinch of salt, they were quite superb in the preseason last year and the opposite during the season, maybe this could be an inverse to what happened last season.  I'd just rather wait for the regular season to begin and see what they actually have in store.

I'd want to point out that preseason form may have a significant impact on a team's morale and how they approach the season; I'm not sure about other teams, but Chelsea hasn't done well in three consecutive preseasons, which typically affects our early league games. We already have 90% of our first-team players playing in preseason, and I don't think the 10% who are still on vacation will alter anything if the other 90% are still struggling to adjust to the new game plan.

Arsenal is the king of preseason, and they frequently carry their winning form into the season, which is why they consistently outperform any of the top six teams in the first 1-10 fixtures of each season.

They are the only team in the PL in which I cannot be sure in more than 4-5 players as starters. Such an unusual thing in football, especially on such a high level.

When you're starting a new game plan with bunch of random kids with little experience it takes a lot to time and effort to get it working it's going to be a long season.

Manchester City is the first game for Chelsea this season in the EPL; luckily for them, they will have a friendly game against them first, which will be good to prepare for the coming season.

Pep likes to break records, and in my head, I know Pep will have the eyes to break the Arsenal Invincibles record to win the Premier League without losing any games, and he will like to start from the very first game against Chelsea.
