I sent a message to SimpleSwap asking them to provide an explanation of the situation, I haven't yet heard back. We'll have to delist them if they don't respond soon irrespective of this situation, because we don't keep services listed that we don't receive timely responses from.

⚠️ One of our users has swapped around $80k with ChangeNow. Their swap was frozen, but we managed to get it released, however ChangeNow are unable to reach this user to confirm which address to send the funds to.

If you are this user please contact us, we'll ask you for some proof that you're the person who created the swap and send the refund to your address.


User reviews and new grading system
We have transitioned from displaying KYCNot.Me grades to using the reviews from our users to calculate a score for every service.

Scores still go from 0 to 10.

Crucially, scores are calculated by considering every successful swap as a positive review and comparing their size to the size of swaps tied to a negative review. Unlike on other platforms positive reviews cannot be bought, and although an exchange might simulate a lot of happy swaps, the scaling we apply to negative reviews is such that it is extremely costly to do so and would ultimately lose the exchange a lot of money.

Thanks for the report. We'll look into it. Some exchanges don't provide us with any minimum amount and this might be the reason for this issue. If no minimum is provided we just assume it's 0.

Many exchanges tie the minimum to the USD value, so the minimum amount in cryptocurrency can vary with changes in the currency's value. This can cause imprecise information if you use a different method to show such data, or previously known settings by the exchange itself.

Nobody actually uses that crap, but even that is higher number than Lightning Network 0.77%
On many websites I always see monero and bitcoin are always on top, for obvious reasons.

WizardSwap are fine. They just didn't register someone's deposit, but a reboot of the node software fixed it.

I don't want to tell you how to run your business, but if you've identified that the error occurred in your backend, I don't see why the user should have to wait for you to investigate where the bug is.

If I understood correctly, the user sent coins to one of your addresses, so you are compensated and you will not have any loss, it is really pointless not to refund immediately. Especially when it's such a small amount.

How would it look if it were a more serious amount and if a similar mistake happened?

I don't want to tell you how to run your business, but if you've identified that the error occurred in your backend, I don't see why the user should have to wait for you to investigate where the bug is.

I think we are doing okay - the service has been in operation since 2014 and our existing client base is quite happy

If people believe that we "scam" them for 8$, they might not be our target client base anyway.

I got in touch with Exolix, the confirmed to us that this user was not one of our own so our guarantee doesn't apply. That said, if a similar situation happened to one of our users I strongly suspect we would apply the insurance. After all Exolix is fully at fault here (they even say so themselves!).

Issues with NeverKYC - Our support saves the day
Yesterday a user reached out to our support saying they sent 25 XMR to NeverKYC. However, NeverKYC claimed he sent only 2.6 XMR. The user shared screenshots of his communications with the exchange wherein they accused him of trying to scam them.

We requested the tx hash and the tx private key from the user and were able to verify that he was in fact telling the truth. He really did send 25 XMR to the exchange.

We approached NeverKYC and after some back-and-forth they promised to refund the user the full 25 XMR. A while later they followed through with their promise.

In their post mortem NeverKYC blamed the situation on their Monero node falling out of sync with the rest of the network (an issue we've heard many times from exchanges). Had this user not been one of our own it's quite likely he never would have managed to convince the exchange that he truly made the deposit.

If this rating was the same before this incident than I certainly wouldn't use it, even if they had better rate on paper.

Surprisingly that review is older, but yesterday's user said he was going to write one too, though didn't do so yet.

Because our review scoring system is weight based, with the amount serving as the weight, it would take massive volume without any negative incidents for NeverKYC to recover for a negative review referring to a swap of 25 XMR ($10k-ish).
