If you ever had your cat pick between two bowls of cat food with one labelled "Bitcoin go up" and the other "Bitcoin go down" that would fall under "providing advice on crypto-assets" and the cat must register Cheesy
Do the rules for cats apply equally to frogs like you, or are you safe from that side as well?   Smiley

Here's the official Dutch list, with currently 136 compliant services in the EU.

What are these entities?
I also find this number strange. They should be small services, maybe only local.

It's good to see OrangeFren is not affected by mica rules at the moment, but they can always change them in future...

I think this mica rules are just preparation for introduction of CBDC aka regulated stablecoins.
Big tech including g00gle, Visa, Stripe, Mastercard, BlackRock, Coinbase and many others just joined together and created OpenUSD stablecoin.
This is big red alert for me.

It's quite startling that something united ALL the fiat giants. All the cards, all the largest banks, all the remittance companies...

What's the best stablecoin, that's also censorship resistant nowadays? DAI?

But CBDCs have to be made by Central Banks, as the name itself indicates.

What these companies did was create another stablecoin, which they can control. They are issuing the revenue that other companies generated and are making a lot of money from this business.

Now, without a doubt, CBDCs will emerge soon. Most likely, the first major one will be from the European Central Bank, which in recent months has been talking more and more about the so-called "Digital Euro".

What's the best stablecoin, that's also censorship resistant nowadays? DAI?

I find it difficult to associate stablecoin with censorship resistance.
If it's a stablecoin, it's pegged to a fiat currency, therefore it will always be subject to any restrictions imposed by the governments that control that fiat currency.

Wait, why would OrangeFren have anything to do with MiCA? All they do is provide referral links to other exchanges. They do not provide the exchange services directly.

My understanding is that the MiCA policies such as maximum anonymous trade need only reply for the actual exchange brokers, not the affiliates.

Correct. Nothing we do falls under MiCA, but regulators seem curious regardless Cheesy

probably the same as Bitcointalk has with mixers, or as Samurai wallet developers have with the Lazarus group.

For "small" services, there is always a potential problem in the announcement when there is a rule/regulations that are subject to different interpretations.

But CBDCs have to be made by Central Banks, as the name itself indicates.
Central banks are private organizations, and look it up, BlackRock serves as a critical technology provider and investment advisor to central banks worldwide  Wink
You know who was contracted during 2008 and 2020 by Federal Reserves in US? Blackrock.
Similar things apply for European Central Bank and for the Bank of England.

Wait, why would OrangeFren have anything to do with MiCA? All they do is provide referral links to other exchanges. They do not provide the exchange services directly.
Strictly speaking and legally someone could argue otherwise, since they have guaranteesfor some exchange services.
I don't think they should be affected by mica at all, but I am bias, and I don't like mica crap.

Lol, these people no longer have any shame in them,  Undecided I would imagine they would come for the forums the services are being posted in next.
We really have to keep fighting back this ridiculous regulations that are just meant to bully honest service providers so they can soften the ground for their predatory  and evil CBDCs

That's a very annoying and unreadable way of sending an email!

Let's analyze: first, they assume you're a man or a woman in English, but after 4 words, they switch to 6 French words, followed by it's abbreviation, and another abbreviation. The next paragraph refers to the first abbreviation, throws in some numbers that to them no doubt mean something, another abbreviation, but this time they can't even make up their mind if it's "MiCA" or "MiCAR", and it keeps going. Who writes emails like that?

Legalese is a completely different language from English. It's like an American English speaker trying to understand Pidgin. Lol Smiley

I mean, if your service is big enough that lawyers have taken attention to it, then I guess that's a positive thing?  Cheesy Congtatulations on the guarantee milestone though, I guess.

It's the most expensive language to translate to and from too! Cheesy

A BTT user used GhostSwap directly (ie. did not use OrangeFren.com) and had his 12 ETH ($21k) frozen.

More info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5587469.new#new

Unfortunately, because the user did not use our link we are unable to cover his loss, but the user admits:
I want to give a special thanks to those who recommended contacting OrangeFren. After I reached out to them, GhostSwap became noticeably more communicative and cooperative. Today they told me: "I'll update you once we receive a response from the team today."

If the user used our link we'd be able to refund him already, but because he didn't we can only pressure GhostSwap to assist him. (Which itself is proving very effective!)

Make sure to always go through OrangeFren.com to enjoy full protection

A BTT user used GhostSwap directly ~ had his 12 ETH ($21k) frozen.
Let's check their website (I'm quoting different parts without giving them a backlink):
Quote
NO ACCOUNT · NO EMAIL · NO SIGNUP · SWAPS IN MINUTES
If that would be true, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Quote
GhostSwap is non-custodial, it does not hold user funds.
That's a lie. That's not how any "instant" exchanger works.
Quote
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which GhostSwap is established
If only they'd say which jurisdiction they're in....
Quote
GhostSwap is operated by GhostSwap
That doesn't really narrow it down....
Quote
No KYC Required
Swap instantly without identity verification. We never ask for your personal documents or data.
That's a lie:
I completed full KYC verification

If the user used our link we'd be able to refund him already, but because he didn't we can only pressure GhostSwap to assist him. (Which itself is proving very effective!)
That's a pretty shitty way that GhostSwap does its business to be honest. When their partners (like you) are watching, they play nice. When they are gone or can't see, they will perform shotgun KYC or confiscations or their liquidity partners will. And to the end user it doesn't matter where the coins are now and who is asking the questions. The money isn't in the end user's pockets.

Another example of a crypto user allegedly being punished for publicly available data that blockchain analysis companies use to come to their silly conclusions. Because the history of the funds point to Tornado Cash, they must make his life difficult hoping he won't be able to answer their questions so they can steal his money. The user claims he got the coins as payment for a sale and he shouldn't care where they were and what they were used for in the past in the same way that no one cares what the history is of the physical bills in their physical wallets.

If GhostSwap is to be believed then I think what happened was that they got a green light from their AML score provider, but then sent the coins to another exchange that they resell for whom the risk score was too high. This seems plausible considering AML scoring is akin to reading tea leaves and different witches see different things
