Italy already found a defeat in recent year in elimination stage by Switzerland, can be this the second time?

On paper it appears that Germany and Italy will likely be the ones to qualify to the next round. But in reality, things might be very different. I have checked Italy and Switzerland H2H and surprisingly they have been in loggerhead draws except for one match which Italy had a win over Switzerland. However, with our observations during the group matches, Germany is one of the countries that has been formidable. Italy may still be the favorite, but if you look at how they played against Croatia, it looks like Italy will not easily be able to control the game against Switzerland. I guess, Switzerland might be more inclined to put pressure on Italy, but if the match remains a draw until the 90th minute, then Italy will be the winner because they really had a winning mentality.

Your prediction is not impossible but I will differ on this a little. I know that Italy had a very tough time in their last match but they were able to pull through to the knockout stages to face Switzerland, another strong team. The lessons learnt from the match between Italy and Croatia is enough to give Italy the courage and strength to win tonight against Switzerland. But their meetings have always produced a draw and it was only once that Italy won them. Base on the importance of this match, I think Italy might narrowly win.

The statistics look good and I think 8 times out of 10 this happens. Do you think you saw the wrong statistics for Italy? out of 20 games between the two teams, italy has won 7 and switzerland 3 and there have been 10 draws. And if i have seen it correctly, italy has not lost the last 10 games against each other. Italys lineup is "new" in 6 positions, which is maybe strange and 3 strikers... im hope we see a nice play, the game has started. Then Germany, that will also be a great game. Switzerland has been a better performer so far in this competition, when compared with Italy performances so far. People that are favouring Italy to win are probably looking at their past glory or possibly because Italy are the reigning champion, but Switzerland has been a more consistent team in terms of form and if they should continue with that they are going to win Italy.

Both teams have been played quite a good football and careful games during the first half and both did their best to not be the first team to concede a goal, but from both side's performance so far, Italy had a bit of opportunities over their opponent side and mounted some pressure over Switzerland, but unfortunately for Italy, Switzerland got an ample opportunity and were able to seize it; However, I still believe that Italy is gonna bounce back come second half.
