What did you actually do to get this kind of situation?
I wondered this too, but I guess it's just LoyceV stuff. Just simulating what any average user would do.

Is your server rate limiting Bitcointalk's image proxy? I just opened 10 new tabs with images of last year's Bitcointalk pizza contest, and most of the images didn't show up. And since there are no height/width-tags, I didn't even notice the missing images until I reloaded each post one by one. I don't have any limitations. Are you talking about this topic? ~ What did you actually do to get this kind of situation? I started at this post, and then quickly clicked my middle mouse (opening the link in a new tab) on all 10 usernames. Try it in a private window, to make sure the images aren't cached.

I started at this post, and then quickly clicked my middle mouse (opening the link in a new tab) on all 10 usernames. Try it in a private window, to make sure the images aren't cached. Okay, I understand what happens. When you click on these ten names, you are not just opening the photos of that user, but all the photos on that page. Which means that you could be requesting the opening of dozens of images at the same time. By adding the 10 windows together, we are probably talking about more than 100 images, in a single request. Although the server is fast, there is always some delay sending all the data. In turn, the forum proxy, for security reasons, when it takes more than x seconds (now I don't remember what the value is) to receive all the data, it shuts down, ending up no longer displaying images. If you refresh the page, it will reload the page again in a new request and everything will appear again. Ultimately, they are the servers' security mechanisms, to avoid or reduce potential DDOS attacks.

Ultimately, they are the servers' security mechanisms, to avoid or reduce potential DDOS attacks. I haven't seen this on other image hosts. It's especially annoying since there's not even a sign there should be a picture. Usually, when there's a lot of images to load, I'd expect not all of them to show up at the same time, but they'd load anyway after a small delay.

The point is that the forum proxy disconnects from the server if it does not receive a response after x seconds. I believe the problem occurs if you are loading 100 images from the same host at the same time. I will try to see what I can do on my server, to try to minimize this situation.

Ddos will often tie up a server with requests on purpose for pointless reasons, letting it drop automatically seems a good idea to limit deliberate misuse. I dont know the fine detail but I got no doubts on the character endlessly chasing the destruction of what others have built. To me its not a maybe just a question of time till someone tests something to destruction, if there's leeway and a vulnerability people will want to use to win the game of knocking over a server for however long they can. I get that everyday, if hosting a game a never ending supply of random people who want to crash the server as fast as possible because that is the game ? Got to err on the side of caution surely. It is easy to test the limits though, I pressed ctrl and click 3 links and it loaded ok after a delay with a few images it was half done. I think my humble pc wouldnt like all 10 at once tbh. Its got to be a common problem, Im guilty of wanting to load all at once also and often it has to be limited even by big websites. The FT blocked my free account for endlessly using their graphs section, I was surprised Imgur had a problem with this site tbh as its mostly text so why did they even notice; it must have spiked in demand at some time. The thread all button brings up captcha on this forum I think and if I went to try and load up the entire WO thread for some bizarre reason some stats collate maybe I dont know; I would expect to be in trouble for trying, theres always a limit with reasons.

I believe the problem occurs if you are loading 100 images from the same host at the same time. Maybe. I don't know how long the forum tries. But I would have expected the see the "image proxy failed" image instead of <nothing>. I will try to see what I can do on my server, to try to minimize this situation. That's all I can ask for, thanks

Do you mean the error where the browser says "This site isn't working" or something similar and then when you refresh the page (or if it refreshes automatically) it loads the actual site?
Yeah I think error like this was happening to me several times, but I can't reproduce it now so it's probably fixed by joker_josue. PS I had to post reply in proper topic that is related with TalkImg, to avoid going off-topic in Ninjatsic topic.

According to some information I managed to gather, it was related to SSL certificates. The issuing company may have had some type of problem. I will continue to monitor the situation more closely. Thank you for understanding.

I see you posted here the most viewed image uploaded in your platform last month, hopefully you will post the most viewed entry in Bitcoin Pizza Day aside from the one that most viewed this month..

The idea is interesting, but unfortunately it is information that I have difficulty obtaining. The record is highly valued, and I can only know the images that generated the most hits from the forum proxy, which turns out to be very imprecise data. You can get an estimate, but it's never very precise to the point of being able to filter down to a topic level, for example.

In a separate thread, I'm trying to add these images using BBCode and all I end up with are these URLs, every single time. Could someone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? Tried multiple hostings like imgbb and now talkgimg as well, same thing everywhere.
Because you are still a Newbies member. And Newbie members cannot post images until they move up to the next level. You should wait a few days and continue participating in the forum, until the next level. Or if you don't want to wait a few days, you have to follow these steps...

Hi guys, In a separate thread, I'm trying to add these images using BBCode and all I end up with are these URLs, every single time. Could someone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? Tried multiple hostings like imgbb and now talkgimg as well, same thing everywhere. Thanks! There is a rule for forum newcomers that you may need to learn. It would help if you tried getting to know the forum better. New members using JPG links or BBCode will not appear as images in the forum. Go to the link and then see the picture. You are having this problem because you are a new member. There is an option for you: if you want to use images before becoming a junior member, you need to buy a membership mainly in BTC from the forum. If you purchased a Copper membership, you can upload pictures before you become a junior member in the forum with no problem. As far as I know, a copper membership requires a BTC payment 35$.

Statistics May 2024____________________This month, there was some instability in the service on a few days, due to some problems with the SSL certificates - which were unrelated to me. Fortunately, within a few hours the situation returned to normal. Everything else went normally, with hundreds of images of pizzas invading TalkImg (good luck to the participants). Here are the numbers for the month: | | Number of uploads in the month: 7 141 (+1 593 that in the last month)
| | Total disk space in the month: 2.72GB (+1.24 that in the last month)
| | Number of visits to the talkimg.com website in the month: 5 836 (= that in the last month) Estimated number of times images were viewed on the forum in the month (hits): 3 051 151 (+845k that in the last month) Bandwidth in the month: 541GB (+201 that in the last month)
| Top 3 Images ViewedThree images uploaded this month, which were among the most viewed (values merely estimates): | | | | | 1593 hits | 741 hits | 722 hits |

Hello,
just tried this service and it worked. I am used to using imgur and it would not work. I just want to know how to register for this service.
Cheers, Waya
