Looks like today is MD Shamis day in the ongoing match. He has taken 4 wickets and is bowling his last over. I felt he can get 5 wickets today, which he did in his last over. India has maintained the pressure on the Australian batters, a few disappointment on the field as an important catch of Warner was dropped. The target for India should be below 280 runs which is actually good to chase on Mohali pitch. I feel the Indian batters would be able to chase this target as Mohali has been always a high scoring pitch.

Since this year's World Cup will be held in India. As the Indian team is currently in their best performance. Besides, the team's bowlers are performing exceptionally well, so it can be expected that India will do something great in this World Cup.

With the performance shown by India in the last Asia Cup, none other than Australia could have been imagined as India's competitive team for the World Cup. But from what we see in the Australia - India series, there is no stronger team than India at the moment. Indian openers have been batting well in almost every match. They also showed great performance in bowling. In Australia and India series, India beat the target of 276 runs set by Australia by losing 5 wickets and winning the match with 8 balls in hand. There is a high probability of getting the same result in the next match.

The second match in this bilateral series has started. Australia won the toss and opted to ball first. Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins are not playing today. They have been replaced by Prasidh Krishna and Spencer Johnson.

I think giving rest to the star bowlers of respective teams was a good decision. Testing new one before the world cup keeps them ready for the actual action. India has already one the first match and would like to seal a victory today to win the bilateral series. Australia would try to level the series by winning today's game.

Yeah.. just checked the scorecard and realized that he didn't played in QF and SF matches. I might have got confused with some other tournament. The pace attack for 2011 tournament was led by Zaheer Khan, with Ashish Nehra and Munaf Patel backing him up. These bowlers were quite efficient and Sreesanth got a chance only when one of them got injured. BTW, this was perhaps the only major ICC tournament where three of Australia's fastest bowlers bowled together - Brett Lee, Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson.

Happens sometimes, at least you didn't say that it was only Dhoni, who was solely responsible for winning the WC for India lol

We are living in an era of franchise rivalry. Dhoni vs Gambhir vs Kohli vs Rohit and so on. Tbh, it's a very toxic environment in social media due to the PR ecosystem and that's why these sorts of comparisons dominate the narratives.

The game is controlled by the Indian batters, Australian bowlers are looking helpless. In all cases, if nothing goes wrong India will give Australia a big target to chase. I do not think it will be easy for them to chase a big target considering the bowling attack India has against them. Shubhman Gill should try to play till the end of this match, if he does then he can get a double century.

The game is controlled by the Indian batters, Australian bowlers are looking helpless. In all cases, if nothing goes wrong India will give Australia a big target to chase. I do not think it will be easy for them to chase a big target considering the bowling attack India has against them. No matter how much Kohli and his proxies like Hardik and Rohit tried during their respective captaincies, they could never achieve what Dhoni achieved.

You cannot compare anyone to MSD, he was one of the best captains in the World who showed he can take a young team to a major event and win the first T20 World cup when even the hardcore fans had zero expectations and the best India will have in a very long time, once in a generation kind of player.

Australia needs to improve his bowling strength because they lost back to back 2 series one from South Africa and now one from india. India has a very strong team in bowling and batting. The Player of the Match Shreyas Iyer has been a brilliant batter at No. 3 for India and scored 105 runs in the last match, with five fifties and a century in his 11 innings amazing player he is. Australia has lost 5 consecutive ODIs in a row. I think Australia has the ability to come back stronger and win the 3rd ODI Match to Avoid Whitewash.

The way Shubhman Gill has been batting I don't think Babar Azam would be able to hold to the number one position in ICC ranking. After yesterday's century he has 5 centuries already this year. SKY has shown a lot of improvement in one day format. Another back to back 50s from him and yesterday he was in his actual self. 4 sixes in a over was too much for Green to handle.

I was impressed with the batting skills of Abbott down the order. He made those sixes & fours so easy in the end, a total of 5 sixes were hit by him. He was not so good with the ball but was impressive with the bat. A one sided match and with this win India has won the bilateral series.

Yes, everyone is waiting to see how the Pakistan team performs against New Zealand. The New Zealand team is playing a bilateral series against Bangladesh now. They are leading the series, which can change as Bangladesh is playing in their home ground. The warm-up match between Pakistan and New Zealand would be played in India, it would be a different scenario for both the teams. I am eager to watch how Pakistan's new bowling attack looks with the inclusion of new bowlers in the team.

Babar Azam is the key to Pakistan batting there is no doubt about it. The opening pair is not reliable, I accept it. Still, Pakistan has a good middle order, Rizwan and Iftikar can create havoc. What they lack is consistent performance, they both tend to forget sometime that they can rotate runs. What I have seen is that they both have a habit to go after the bowlers. They don't rely on singles or doubles, they only rely on big hits, which causes them to lose their wickets.

I might be wrong in judging them as I am not an expert. I still think rather than the batting, bowling is a concern for Pakistan. It is a possibility that the new bowlers might be far better than those who have experience in bowling for Pakistan.

Hasan Ali is not in good form recently. They have included Mohammad Wasim Jr. as well in the squad, while Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf are likely to open the bowling for Pakistan. Spin department will be led by Usama Mir, Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan. Overall, Pakistan bowling looks quite decent even without Naseem Shah, but there are gaps here and there. And in the batting department, apart from Babar Azam, senior players such as Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman also need to step up their game.

In that previous post I told you that it is a big challenge for the BCCI to bench which player and which player to keep in the playing XI. 

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are not only praised, but these two batsmen are performing brilliantly after being completely out of cricket for six to seven months. Their batting looks like they have been involved in regular cricket for these seven months. 

Shubman Gill will make the biggest impact for India, with the Yuvraj of cricket's regular performances in the opening, it seems that batting in the opening is an easy matter for him.

There is too much confusion to choose from the named lot as to who will be the part of playing 11. SKY is aggressive and can come in the end, increase the current run rate, job done. KL Rahul is good as a wicket-keeper and shows a good temperament with spinners, he is in excellent form with the bat. Shreyas Iyer is another batter who is aggressive with the bat. Ishan Kishan is the backup WC, aggressive with the bat. You are right SKY does not hold a good chance of being part of the playing 11. Everything now depends on the coach, captain, and team management and in all probabilities, the team that played the finals of the Asia Cup would be the playing 11.
