Not entirely sure about it as much as you are, feels like there could be something that may change, and while we do look at it like Roma should be getting a win because they are getting better, Brighton has some amazing young talents that they could use as well.

So I do not see this to be something good, I just see it as a tough matchup, I believe that Brighton has a chance to win as well, so there shouldn't really be anything that would confuse them all that much. Most of the teams don't really actively underestimate their opponents, but it is in their minds that they believe there is a gap in quality and therefore the game has been decided before it even started. Getting the mindset right for these kinds of games is the job that the coach has to get done in my opinion. I fully agree with your point of view that a team that has made it into the round of 16 has to be taken seriously no matter what. But deep down in the minds of the players there might be a different opinion about the situation. However,  when you talk about Liverpool, I think that is a team that has the perfect coach to deal with these situations on the one hand, and on the other hand all of the players have plenty of experience and are long enough in the business to know that ignorance can be punished very hard in football. This should be one of the most toughest match in this round because both teams are high class teams and will give themselves tough time in order for one to prevail. Roma are use to to the league and have had more experience of the European competitions than Brighton has since their qualification to the premier league. AS Roma is a big team in the Serie A and have performed in almost every year’s European competitions, so I feel they have the experience and the talents put together to advance to the next round than Brighton will. I don't think Liverpool is at their best, to be honest. Their position is good, and they can score, but the team is a bit shaky atm. They were forced to play their academy kids and while the result is promising, their gameplay is arguably worse compared to before. It is understandable since they fielded a lot of new players with so little experience, hence why if nothing changes I believe the chance to defeat Liverpool is quite decent. Things will be difficult at Anfield, but if Sparta can hold them back, they will have a bigger chance to hit them back at home. This next month will be a fragile period for Liverpool IMO, even if they have a great mentality you can't really use that to fix a lack of coordination or experience playing in Europe for the youngsters.

AS Roma are in better shape than Brighton in the Europa League. Brighton are not in better shape currently, even in the Premier League. They have been experiencing bad times, although I cannot guarantee AS Roma winning as I don’t know what the match will be for them, but I’m sure they will deliver their polling unit positively because they have been consistently playing in the league this season, and obviously Brighton are even better than them in any way as long as the Europa League is concerned this season.
