Don’t make it seem as if a person should avoid investing because they have only one source of income, that’s ridiculous because i know there are people out there who have only one source of income but are still able to be financially prudent with their investment decisions.
Having multiple incomes can certainly give you some level of flexibility with your investment but it is not a prerequisite for long term bitcoin investing.

If a guy can take care of his essential expenses and still have like $50 or $100 left with them, i don’t see anything inherently wrong with investing part of it as long as he’s not sacrificing his necessities or creating cash flow problems for himself just because he wants to invest more.
Having a source of income doesn't still mean that one can invest in bitcoin, you can have a source of and still can't be able to figure out any discretionary income to invest in bitcoin, so what an investor need to invest in bitcoin is their discretionary income, I have seen low income earners still invest in bitcoin, with one source of income one can still invest in bitcoin if he can figure out his discretionary income and still be sourcing for how he can increase his sources of income to sustain his investment for a long time.

Well if a person can’t figure out their discretionary income, that’s a different question and i don’t think that such a person should be thinking of investing in bitcoin, rather they should be ongoingly trying to increase the cash inflow and perfect their money management skills.

It’s not rocket science to know that you have to learn how to walk first before you can learn how to run; prioritize what is important first and then you can invest when it is convenient, what’s the rush about.
If someone cannot separate their essential expenses and discretionary income, then it is definitely important for them to learn that calculation. It is important to be careful that this argument does not become a reason for waiting, especially for beginners. I do not think that it is difficult for a person with common sense to understand what part of discretionary income is after all the essential expenses. Some people may not understand it.

A person may have only one source of income, but if he calculates it, he can understand whether he really has any discretionary income or not. If he does not have any discretionary income after his calculation, then he will have to increase his income first or else he will have to focus on reducing his expenses. But if someone has discretionary income after all his essential expenses, even if it is small, then he can start saving Bitcoin regularly with a small amount if he wants.

Your discretionary consumption is very important as a long term bitcoin investor and shouldn't be neglected because investing in bitcion isn't punishment but a way to build wealth without depriving yourself from those things you will need to use part of your discretionary income for. Discretionary consumption is what you use part of your discretionary income to buy for yourself.
No one is looking for fault in investing. It's true, as you said, that we can't help but pursue our desire to continue investing, but we don't meet our daily consumption needs at all. This isn't a good thing, and I think it's better to avoid investing for now. The reason is quite clear: consumption needs are far more important than achieving maximum investment returns, but these needs are difficult to meet. This is one of the mistakes we make, especially when investing long-term.

Unless we have more than one income, that's a different story. The goal of prioritizing wealth is no longer a problem, as adjustments can be made. Many investors have set aside other sources of income to meet consumption needs, while only a small portion of them continue to focus on their goal of achieving wealth through their long-term investment plans.

Don’t make it seem as if a person should avoid investing because they have only one source of income, that’s ridiculous because i know there are people out there who have only one source of income but are still able to be financially prudent with their investment decisions.

Having multiple sources of income doesn’t necessarily guarantee a successful investment or a better cash flow.
Sometimes we think that it’s every one who has multiple sources of income that automatically have easier paths to investments and better cash flows but the truth is that isn’t always the case.

A person can have multiple sources of income but finds it difficult to sort out their investable discretionary income either due to luxurious lifestyle or lack of financial discipline while another with one source of income can comfortably sort out theirs.

Multiple sources of income are certainly a good thing because they provide additional flexibility and reduce dependence on a single source of income. However, that flexibility is most beneficial when it is backed by financial discipline.

Having one source of income should not discourage anyone that wants to invest in bitcoin the only thing to consider before investment in bitcoin is the amount of money you have when you subtract your expenses and your left over income. From the illustration you gave it the person has his own personal business that brings him income on daily basis he can decide to be saving some part of his daily profit for it to be used for his investment. If he is able to plan well that savings 5ft he set aside for investment purposes only can serve as his discretionary income because he planned for it to be used for the investment only.

With good plans even with one stream of income you can decide to set some amount aside for it to be used for investment while you also have some savings for more business transactions and daily expenses it all depends on your business and the plans you make.

You are a little mistaken here, discretionary consumption does not mean unnecessary luxury, and it is not right to consider it as a competitor to investment. I consider myself a long-term Bitcoin investor, if I now pour all my discretionary income into Bitcoin, emergency funds and reserves, but do not keep anything for myself for small natural desires, then I may question whether I can carry out my plan in the long term. Because at some point my life may feel like a punishment. Investing is not a punishment, nor is it worth taking mental pressure. I see Bitcoin as a way to build future wealth. But while building that future, I do not want to put my current life under such a difficult pressure. Because it may go against my own plan. Even personal expenses in such a situation can force me to close DCA, break reserve, or sell Bitcoin at a bad time.

I am trying to understand what you meant by competitor investment. Using the term discretionary consumption is somehow  because this can complicate things for newbie about discretionary income and discretionary consumption and why we are using terminology we should be very mindful else you confuse yourself too and see yourself doing the wrong thing. I do not think using emergency funds and reserve funds to front load during dip is bad if someone has means of covering those loophole.
Using Emergency funds to buy the dip is a reckless idea. Reason is because the emergency fund only purpose is to handle unexpected expenses or situations. What if you later bought the dip with part of the your emergency funds (let's say you used 50% of EF to buy the dip, bearing in mind that you said as long as you can cover the loophole) and unexpectedly you need an urgent cash. But if you were unable to re-save the amount you spent on buying the dip on time. That might put you in a bad spot, especially if the amount you need to solve the problems is around 80% . I still agree if you use part of your reserve fund to buy the dip, at least it won't hunt you, unlike the way using your emergency funds does and provided it is genuinely excess money you can afford to deploy.

Even if the person is probably getting profit from his business, that doesn’t automatically make such profit to be their discretionary income. The money to use and invest in bitcoin is a discretionary income and not profit from business. I’m not saying that they can’t make use of it but before making use of it they should ensure that such money is their discretionary income which they can be able to invest without needing anytime soon. And even if it’s not on a daily basis, they can still get to invest either weekly or monthly depending on when their discretionary income is usually available. There’s no point saving the fiat or profit when they can easily be using it to buy bitcoin no matter how little provided such profit is their discretionary income.

Yes, I agree with you, even if you have multiple sources of income, sometimes it is not possible to spend it on investments. There is a common saying that the more you earn, the more you spend, so this does not happen. There are many people who invest in Bitcoin who are surrounded by a limitation for one goal in their life. Even if they want to, they cannot spend more than a certain amount on their investments even if they have enough money. People whose cash flow system is developed and good, they can buy aggressively during the decline, but they do not do it. Because they are very calculating in nature. However, I think such people know about the risks and they know where they have to stop and where to start.

The Bitcoin journey becomes much easier for those who have multiple sources of income. They can also increase their portfolio very easily. Despite having a single source of income, the market does not help those investors who are lazy in managing their emergency fund and being aggressive, just like a poor investor does not want to be in the field. However, those whose main goal is long-term investment never wait for such opportunities and never move away from investing.

Having multiple sources of income is undoubtedly possible to live a secure life, but keeping expenses under control is natural for everyone because if it goes out of control, income and expenses can become equal. Having multiple sources of income is an additional benefit because even if one of your sources of income stops, you will feel it much less due to the security of your other sources. Therefore, having multiple sources of income reduces risk. Building an emergency fund with proper planning is important, keeping enough money for investment in the long term is an effective step.

I do not think using emergency funds and reserve funds to front load during dip is bad if someone has means of covering those loophole.
I don't understand why you will say that an investor can use his emergency funds to frontload his bitcoin investment when that's not the purpose of emergency funds. I hope that you know what you are saying because your statement can mislead a brand new investor to think that emergency funds is for investing when it's your backup funds to your bitcoin investment. It's only your reserve funds that you can use to buy during the dip.

However, if you have a good amount of money that came as a lump sum as you discretionary income and you want to frontload your bitcoin investment, you don't need to wait for a dip that may not come. Just frontload when the money is available and forget about timing the market because if it's me, I wouldn't be settled till I use the money to frontload immediately. If you frontload with your emergency funds, you will get burned and might even go back to zero because when a real life emergency play out and you don't have any emergency funds, you will sell your bitcoin if possible at loss if the price if below your entry point and that can discourage you from the continuity of your DCA. There's no point involving yourself in actions that can discourage you from accumulating bitcoin overtime. Don't let the greed of buying too many bitcoin quick affect your long term decision and investment goal.

so it will be better to find a way to make sure everything is balanced financially before we commence investing through dca.
You don't need to be financially balanced before you can DCA because if you have a regular discretionary income which is as low as $10 or more, you can keep your DCA ongoing overtime while, you look for other means to increase your income for an increase in discretionary income and your DCA amount.

Multiple income is important. Those who have multiple incomes will not find it a problem to spend a little more time maintaining or sorting them out. Although he has to face some problems in calculating money when cashflow is coming, it still creates mentally good feelings. For me the benefit of multiple income is that it reduces the pressure on cashflow and increases the ability to create discretionary income. If investor can meet all his expenses from his main income, he can invest a larger amount in Bitcoin with the additional income sources that he has. In addition to investing in Bitcoin, he can also invest in other sectors if he wants, which will strengthen his financial capacity. Suppose you have a salary and rent, food, Bitcoin DCA all depend on it. If that income suddenly stops, the entire financial structure will go under pressure. But if there is a second income even if the main source temporarily weakens the entire cashflow does not become zero. Then maybe the DCA amount will have to be reduced but it may not be completely stopped. And I think of multiple income as an extra backup fund. I don't think Bitcoin will give profit because of multiple income. But it helps to make investment in Bitcoin more strong. If there is a financial problem with only income, then the mental stress that would be created will not be created if there is multiple income source. Reduces one source dependency helps to sustain DCA.

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

[edited out]
....Further, for an investor who is still in the early stages of his investment, he should pay more attention to building a safety net, that's putting more priority to his back up funds, while gradually buying using the DCA.

I don't see why a newbie bitcoin investor would give greater priority over his back up funds rather than his bitcoin investment, unless he had pretty strong senses that his income was going to go down and/or his expenses were going to go up.

Of course, there may be some needs to account for the totality of the newbie's individual factors, even though it seems the most important factor in regards to being worried about having a sufficient back up fund would relate to strength of income/expenses.

I could imagine situations in which the newbie bitcoin investor gets his back up funds up to a couple of weeks of his expenses, and then thereafter from the pool of investment/savings portion, he allocates 75% to his bitcoin and 25% to his back up funds.  That does not seem unreasonable at all, unless he happens to know about situations in which his income is going down and/or his expenses are going up... .. ..

And is he is able to build it(back up funds) to a reasonable high standard,

Why does he need to build his back up funds to a reasonably high standard?  You are hardly making any sense.  You think that there is value in holding a lot of cash beyond the ability to make sure that we do not have to tap into our bitcoin at a time that is not of our own choosing?

I will agree that the larger the bitcoin investment becomes then the more justified the bitcoin investor would be in keeping larger and larger portions of cash, so for example, if the bitcoin investor had put 1 or 2 years of his expenses into bitcoin, and maybe even bitcoin prices went up so that the bitcoin holdings might be worth 3-4 years or even more of the guy's expenses (whether we are referring to spot price or more accurately thinking about the 200-WMA value), then yeah, he may well be justified to go up more and more in his cash holdings and also he might even start to want to hold some of his cash holdings in other (cash related assets) that are also going to give him returns, even though they may well be related to various cash assets rather than to bitcoin, and this can also be considered diversification, yet fuck off with diversification, since we do not need to be getting distracted by diversification for quite a long time, especially if we are still fairly early in building up our bitcoin and our cash.. so there is no reason to be overly allocating in cash when we are supposed to be striving to build our bitcoin holdings.

then he can prioritize his investment a bit more. Thus, everything largely depends on his level of discretionary available.

You sound distracted.  Sure getting more discretionary funds can help to invest faster and even  to save faster, yet the mere fact that there might be more discretionary funds does not justify keeping more of the discretionary funds in cash as you seem to be wrongly advocating.

Guys do what they want in the end, and so they choose how much to balance in each area, yet there is nothing wrong in emphasizing bitcoin investing, even if their cash back up funds might be growing at a slower pace, and surely it is likely good that both the bitcoin and the cash backups are ongoingly growing, yet there is no reason that the cash should be growing faster than the bitcoin, especially once the cash gets above a couple weeks of expenses.

1) Self-Custody is a right.  Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Therefore, having multiple sources of income reduces risk. Building an emergency fund with proper planning is important, keeping enough money for investment in the long term is an effective step.
The most important consideration in the long term journey of Bitcoin should be a discretionary income. To live a financially secure life, it is good to have multiple sources of income that keep the cash flow flowing. This cash flow will keep you financially stable and will keep you regular in Bitcoin. You are right that having multiple sources of income can provide an investor with many benefits. On the one hand he will be financially secure and will be able to easily build up a backup fund to protect his Bitcoin holdings in the long term. Sometimes he will be able to buy more Bitcoin stacks during price drop.

Having multiple sources of income is good for staying consistent in accumulating Bitcoin for the long term and reducing investment risk, as well as helping you manage your funds wisely.

In my perspective Having multiple sources of income is crucial. It won't be a problem for people with multiple incomes to put in a little extra time to maintain or organize them. Even though he has to deal with some difficulties when cash flow is approaching, it still makes him feel good mentally. The advantage of having multiple sources of income, in my opinion, is that it lessens the strain on cash flow and improves the capacity to generate discretionary income.

The investor can use his other sources of income to invest more in Bitcoin if he can cover all of his expenses with his primary income. He can increase his financial capacity by investing in other industries in addition to Bitcoin, if he so chooses. Let's say you have a salary that is used for things like food, rent, and Bitcoin DCA. The entire financial system will be under strain if that revenue abruptly stops. However, if there is a second source of income, the total cash flow does not go to zero even if the primary source momentarily wanes.

The DCA amount might then need to be lowered, but it might not need to be stopped entirely. Additionally, I consider multiple sources of income to be an additional safety net.Due to its multiple revenue streams, I don't think Bitcoin will be profitable. However, it strengthens Bitcoin investments. The mental strain that would result from a financial issue with just one source of income won't occur if there are multiple sources of income. helps to maintain DCA by reducing reliance on a single source.

Let's not bore ourselves out giving more attention to the sources of income rather than the investment itself.

It's not always about the number of sources of income, rather the quantity of discretionary income you're able to identify with after attending to your expenses. If you've discretionary income, you can always follow up your investment with consistency and build backup funds to protect it. If you manage your cashflow properly, you might as well find ways to reduce your expenses which would make available more discretionary income to follow up your investment. As long as you're not being overaggressive, you've no problem.

Additionally, if you feel you'll be better off having more than one source of income to make more discretionary income available so you can increase your buying amounts, it's on you as the investor to do whatever you consider appropriate to sustain your accumulation journey and reach your target faster within your holding period.

However, it strengthens Bitcoin investments. The mental strain that would result from a financial issue with just one source of income won't occur if there are multiple sources of income. helps to maintain DCA by reducing reliance on a single source.

It's always great to have more than one source of income especially when it comes to financial stability and risk management. But I think the important factor is not so much how many income streams you have it's the amount of real surplus you have after subtracting out the expenses you need.

When one of the income streams is cut but cash flow is still generated from the other the strain on finances is greatly reduced. In such a situation you may have to cut down on DCA but you won't have to stop investing altogether. The best thing about having a few income sources is that you'll have some money coming in even if you don't have the other ones. However having more money doesn't necessarily mean you have more investable money. First you need to have money for your out of pocket expenses and an emergency fund. Any surplus money that can't be used for other purposes should go toward Bitcoin investments.

Hence I feel multiple income streams are a boon not only for investing in Bitcoin but also for financial stability. Diversified income means not relying on just one and decreases financial stress which makes it easier to maintain a long term investment strategy.

So many income streams means you can't reap the rewards of that extra income without you having spending control and financial discipline. In the long term it's sustainable income controlled spending real discretionary income and disciplined investing that counts.

Having multiple sources of income is crucial like you said, it helps you accumulate more faster and also it helps you build a bigger emergency funds. Infact it is very advisable to get multiple sources of income when you are investing in Bitcoin. Don’t let it be Barrier between you and investing in bitcoin but if you can get it then it vey okay. We have seen people who don’t even have source of income still invest in Bitcoin, so no matter the little you have if your can get your discretionary income from it, then start your Bitcoin journey.

Don't get it twisted because it's not crucial for a bitcoin investor to have multiple source of income before he can be successful in his bitcoin investment in the long run. Some people only have one source of income and it's big enough to cover all their monthly expenses and basic needs and they will still have a big discretionary income left. It's only if you don't have a good job and you are living from hand to mouth that's when you must look for means to get multiple source of income.

For example, a contractor income is always big enough to cover his basic needs and monthly expenses for up to six months and above. Since, he has a good size of discretionary income after taking care of his needs over a given period of time, he can invest with DCA and keep is accumulation ongoing overtime.

It's somehow difficult to get a second job these days in a country with low job opportunities so, this shouldn't discourage anyone from investing into bitcoin because he doesn't have multiple source of income. Provided that you have a discretionary income, you can start your bitcoin investment and build your portfolio with DCA overtime no matter, how little it is even as low as $10.

The profit gotten from a business has so many things that will be involved and can not be seen as discretionary income. Once people are able to understand the meaning of discretionary income, that is when they will stop making the mistake of thinking that they can easily take money from their business and invest in Bitcoin. This should not be encouraged at all due to the risk of affecting the business if the income generated from the business is not well calculated or structured.

Discretionary income is what is left after you have paid for all the necessary bills covered for the business and what is left can be known has discretionary. Out of the discretionary, you will have to keep fund for saving, keep fund for emergency, and also have miscellaneous fund that you can keep somewhere.

Discretionary income is what is left after you have paid for all the necessary bills covered for the business and what is left can be known has discretionary.
If your primary source of income is the business, then this isn't your discretionary income, from the profits, you'll have to carve out what to reinvest into the business and what to pay yourself. Then from what you'll pay yourself, you'll take away your personal expenses before arriving at your discretionary income if available. This is from where you'll invest into Bitcoin and build backup funds.

You omitted funds for buying Bitcoin here. The accurate division of your discretionary income is investment fund which is used in buying Bitcoin, savings(comprising of emergency fund, reserve funds, floats) and discretionary consumption. Emergency fund is part of your savings which are your backup funds.

Emergency and reserve funds are largely the same thing, so they do not fit into two different categories since they are both forms of back up funds or savings or cash or cash cushion.

The three categories are invest, save, consume.

Think about it.

You have options in regards to how to use (or keep) your discretionary funds.

Invest

Save

consume

If you are describing emergency funds and reserve funds as two separate categories, then you are wrong, since they both fit into the save category.

There is no way we can take away the part or role of discretionary spending and/or consumption in out attempt to allocate our discretionary to different areas of usage. As much investing and back up funds are important, consumption is also important. So making a list of how our discretionary income is spent as an investor, and excluding consumption as @Abbatty pointed out is totally wrong.

Perhaps, in context, we would describe both emergency funds and reserve funds as one since they are both oart of the back up funds that an investor needs to guard his investment and avoid unwanted tapping in difficult financial period.
Further, for an investor who is still in the early stages of his investment, he should pay more attention to building a safety net, that's putting more priority to his back up funds, while gradually buying using the DCA. And is he is able to build it(back up funds) to a reasonable high standard, then he can prioritize his investment a bit more. Thus, everything largely depends on his level of discretionary available.

Discretionary income should be viewed in terms of investments, savings, and discretionary spending. However, if a new investor has a fairly stable income and expenses, and has enough cash to cover a few weeks of expenses, I don't see any particular reason to prioritize his backup fund over Bitcoin just because he's new. Suppose someone has $100 after meeting all their essential expenses and already has enough cash to last a few weeks, then it's not wrong for him to keep $75 in Bitcoin and $25 in backup. If his job or income is fairly stable, I don't see much need to build up a large cash fund unnecessarily. On the other hand, if his income is irregular, if there are big expenses ahead, or if there is uncertainty about his job, then it is certainly reasonable to keep a little more cash.

The real function of a backup fund should be to prevent situations where you suddenly have to sell Bitcoin against your will in order to get money. Cash like three months of expenses may be a good position for some, but there is no need to make a hard rule that it has to be met first for everyone. Especially when the amount of Bitcoin is still very small, spending too much time just increasing cash can unnecessarily slow down the process of building your Bitcoin position. Later, when the amount of Bitcoin and wealth is large, the cash fund can also be increased according to the situation, there is no particular reason to do the opposite from the beginning.
