looking at the fixtures that are coming up for the top spots especially for sporting and Benfica who are title contenders I think that sporting is in a better place to win the league because looking at the games that the two teams are built in having sporting is going to be facing Braga and Benfica and I don't see Braga as a team that will be a threat to sporting so the only tough match for sporting is going to be Benfica, While Benfica going to be facing Braga, sporting and Porto which is the top three teams so it will be more difficult for Benfica to get points from these games that are coming up

Hehehe, did you see how Braga played with all their might in this match?
Sometimes I get it right and I felt that in this final phase Braga are giving their all to get that third place

It wasn't just the draw, but Braga had more possession, 52% against Sporting's 48%, they had more passes but fewer shots on goal

Sporting Lisbon have become a an average team from my assessment. It is as if Ruben Amorim left with the glory of the club because they have been struggling to win matches since Ruben Amorim left. They are just lucky to be in the second position and that is primarily because FC Porto and Braga are not as hot as they used to be else they would have been struggling to make it to champions league. They actually had a great start and that is another thing that have also helped them to remain at that position. All they are doing now is maintaining their position because I don't see them taking the league title from Benfica.

I don't think that sporting is an average team sporting is still a big team in the Portuguese league what you need to know is that it's not easy for a team to get back to her feet when there is a change of management and sporting is a victim of circumstance because a new coach means new philosophy , new style and new approach to the game so it will take a while before sporting will come back to the sporting that even won Manchester City earlier this season.


I see sporting coming back stronger next season because as far as this season is concerned they are just trying their best to finish up the season in a position that will be favorably because it's not all teams that are lucky to start getting results when there is a change in the teams management.

Yeah, the problem Sporting CP encountered this season was the departure of the coach to Manchester United. I could still remember that after he left, the club started to decline. Yes, change of management really do affect teams especially during the season. Again, I will say this management even tried to still be just two points behind the league leaders at this stage of the competition.

I have not actually been adding Portuguese clubs on my betting slip this days but however based on the analysis I did for the yesterday match this three teams, I wasn't sure of the side that might win but what I did was that the ones I feel that were better from the way I picture them, i use them to either give me a draw if they cannot win, and I was fortunate enough to come right on time for those games, I almost regretted having SC Braga in mind to draw or win  Sporting CP because the early goal was leading to the only goal of the match before the draw came in.

FC Porto 1 - 4 Benfica

Not even a minute had passed and Befica scored the first goal. I started laughing at that moment because the game was just starting and we were supposed to see goals after many minutes. Benfica could have scored more goals, but they wasted good opportunities. Fortunately, Benfica scored the second goal in the 42nd minute.

Porto also wasted some good opportunities in the first half. The third goal that Benfica scored in the second half also made me laugh. It was an incredible pass from Di Maria. Benfica football team won the match one sided because all players gave excellent effort in this match. No team could win any match due to only one player and always team work needed for every success. Pavlidis was top performer of this match because he did alone 3 goals in this match and he did his first goal at the start of the match and he did goal at 1 minute of the match and after this goal, we saw another goal from that player which was at 42 minutes and that was in the first half and they made pressure in first half and after that ,we saw more goals in this match. Pavlidis did his second goal at 69 minutes of the match and he made match one handed by doing back to back goals and Porto team could not handle the pressure of match.

For me it was a bit boring game, especially most part of 2nd half as there wasn't much action. As you said, Sporting was better team on pitch, but they wasted some good chances. And that Braga goal was from nowhere.
Still, don't think that this result bring big advantage for Benfica in title race. For me it looks that everything will be decided in remaining game between Benfica and Sporting.

Average Club you call a team like Sporting Lisbon? If you are a frequent follower of the Portuguese Primeira division you will know that Sporting Lisbon is not an average team but one of the professional teams in the Portuguese league. Porto and Benfica have dominated the league more but after both teams, Sporting Lisbon is the next so will you still refer to them as an average team?. Sporting Lisbon won the Primeira division title last season and currently they are second in the table with only 2 points behind Benfica who is the league leaders and you still call such a team average?. I know that Sporting Lisbon is not as strong as when Ruben Amorim was coaching them but the club still have prestige and energy regardless of their little flops. Having a great start is not the issue but keeping consistency is what is more important because the Sporting you are calling an average team has only lost 2 games out of 28 games they have played in the league which is the lowest amongst all because even Benfica that is topping the table has lost 4 games so far and Sporting has scored more goals and has more goal difference than Benfica who are at the top of the table. 2 points gap is nothing, Sporting has every possibility to overtake Benfica and win the title because it's just a match away. If Benfica loses one match and Sporting Lisbon wins, that's all.

I can imagine Benfica lifting the Liga Portugal trophy after the recent results...  Sporting shouldn't have lost points there.

Benfica aren't joking at all. If I didn't check it wrong, they have been winning for 9 games in the league. This form is way better than Sporting's. Benfica deserve the title more. Moreover there is still a Benfica - Sporting game to be played before the end of the season. This is quite likely to determine the champion if it isn't yet until then. Benfica are really good at being victorious in this kind of tight title competitions. We have seen an example of it earlier in a title race between them and Porto.

Unarguably, sporting Lisbon have done something unusual this season, just a few months ago in 2024 when their  head coach, Amorim left for Manchester United leaving them half way in the season, they had to struggle because at that moment a new coach came in with a new philosophy and with a new style of play but they managed to get back in their feet and now they are stable and with just few points below league leaders which leaves them with a lot of chances to contend for the title incase the leaders flop at any point in time.

So the championship is always this close? I didn't know that story. This makes both the championship and the bets more interesting. But if everything goes well, Benfica will win this one and everything leads us to believe that it will be as close as any other championship.
