Every successful person had a mentor

I would like to discuss this here to understand how many people decide to take this step to find a mentor?

I asked myself this question because in almost every book or interview with successful people I come across a mention of them having, or even currently having a mentor who guides them, helps them develop, and perhaps points out mistakes that will not allow them to grow.

And I was interested in how many of you at some point decided that you needed a mentor, how difficult it was to find one and how did he help you? I suppose that few people use this, maybe even out of fear, because for example I don’t even know who it could be and how can I ask my future mentor about this if I manage to find such a person.

And maybe some of you have been a mentor for other people? Share your experience too, if it is not too much trouble for you.

Having a mentor, someone that genuinely cares about you and teaches you everything that they know is without a doubt a massive advantage, but make no mistake, finding one is very difficult, as a mentor not only should be an expert on their field, a rarity, but also they must be willing to teach you what they know, and this is not very common, because if they were to do that then as soon as you leave them you will become another competitor, and no one wants to train someone that may eventually become their rival.

As humans, we are never free from mistakes, and not all problems can be faced alone. Therefore, mentors have their own role in achieving the success we dream of. Especially if we are still beginners, which means we still need direction and guidance from people who are more experienced. However, the position of this mentor must be in accordance with the interests and talents that you have, if you are struggling in the business field, then look for a mentor who is indeed reliable in the business field, and if you are involved in politics, then look for a mentor who is indeed a reliable politician and has a lot of experience.

And by having a mentor, with the experience he has, of course this can help us on the journey to success. A mentor is someone who will remind and direct us when we are wrong, provide solutions when we find problems. In what form of success is meant because if referring to the business journey then most people around me their mentor is none other than their father. Why do I say that because for some friends who do business initially they worked at their parents' place and they were taught business development patterns directly as their parents' experience and most of them succeeded even though some of them tried to develop skills with much more sophisticated methods that follow the development of the times.

At least we become mentors for children is more than enough because maybe we don't have the ability to teach many people in business. But if we talk about children then we all have a responsibility to ensure they can live better while pursuing the process of life running any business.

Not everyone relies on the so called mentor.Mentors varies,and at every stage of one's Life, you'll always need to be guided and protected.

Their job is to admonish and help you set a foundation on yourself that's related to your dreams and aspirations to life.Having a mentor can be of several benefits to someone's life.Despite all of these,each and everyone of us serve as a mentor unknown to us.
We're never free from learning,and it should be fine to actually have mentors even to old age

Generalizing this is wrong, most successful had a mentor that inspired them but not everyone falls under this category. There are lots of people that became successful on their own without any form of guidance or mentorship, they trusted themselves and relied only on their instincts to make it. Having a mentor isn't a criteria for success but it can only facilitate the process to be successful. There are people that stood in their without looking up to anyone, these role models are humans and they also make mistakes, having this thought would make you reduce what you expect from them.

One thing you need to realize though is that a mentor does not always have to be a professional one. A mentor can be found in all aspects of life. It could be your parents, a teacher, friends or even your boss. Anyone you admire and look up to can be a mentor even if it is not official. Doesn't seeking out advice from someone make them a mentor already?

If you find someone that you really respect and value opinions of, just ask them to teach you about certain things. You need to have a good relationship with whoever this is though because you do not want to be taking advices from someone who could potentially put you in harm's way.

Definitely, mentorship will give a boost to career growth. And based on my experience with my peers and coworkers, people with mentors are more likely to have job satisfaction and faster career advancement, definitely more chance compared to their colleagues who have not undergone mentorship. Mentorship provides room for advice and feedback in personal and professional development that might not be possible otherwise.

That said, mentorship most definitely is not the sole path to success, and at times it may not feel right for anyone either. Some people find their way via self-learning, networking, or peer-to-peer mentorship as new dynamics of remote work shake off the tradition of mentorship. While mentorship therefore carries distinct advantages, this mix of exploration and support systems perhaps works more effectively at different eras in your personality and career.

For those you have guidance with their mentor or people who have wiling to help them it's a good head start to them as there someone give them a hand we know first step is hardest thing to do and we get confused with those things we can't deal with the problem. In some point there's some people like that but others they can stand on their own, doing self study, self engagement, and urge to learn more so they can learn from themselves and so if they can help others that struggles the same way they used to. Its not bad to have a mentor but at least you must need to stand on your own and not always being dependent.

When did I said having a mentor is bad? I said it's almost impossible to find one.

You need to know, the only one want you to be happy and successful is your parent, nothing more. Your close friend, your husband/wife, your cousin etc never want to see you to be successful than them, they just act happy in front of you, but sad/jealous inside.

Now I will ask you, have you trained someone? it doesn't need to be successful, but like helping unfortunate children from a beggar to have a good job.

Mentor is something almost everybody needs in anything they plan to do in other to be guided properly to avoid making a mistake, however we no that no matter how intelligent or smart someone could be but they can never know everything, so is advised that if somebody wants to go into a product of a certain material or manufacturing, is obvious that there are people who specialized on those areas with a lot of business experience, so those are the kind of people that would mentor you on what to do and after everything you would see yourself doing well on the business, so actually for me I choose a mentor based on the area I'm looking out and not just seeking for any random mentor who would mislead me because I have witnessed a lot of businesses who failed do to incompetent mentor, so if you are planning on having one make sure you have seen their success on what they do before anything because sometimes people can be very disguising.

I’ve had people in my life that I look up to & respect so I can see where OP is going with this statement. I think it’s important to look at people who you want to emulate, to see if you can replicate some of their success. Of course it’s not possible to 100% copy somebody but to take good attributes from different successful people & apply it in your own life can only be a good thing.

With the right modeling, questioning, and physiology a person's mind of how they do things can be 100% emulated. For instance, if you want to wake up early, all that is required is ask a person that does it well, how they go about it? What pushes them away from bed early in the morning? Staying with them and practicing exactly what they do, will immediately release the same motivation in you.

Having a mentor is not a must thing to attain success. To be successful actually start from you by setting your goals. Mentors are there to guide and develop you. Not everyone wants to get attached to a coach so, that's why you hear people having role models that just motivate them.

We now have a lot of  social media channels own by successful people where you can be coached and get guidance on your particular choice of career. Above all, being successful starts with me. I have to set goals, be disciplined, hard-working, consistent and have a good network of people.

I can say that smart person does not need a mentor to become successful, but smart persons knows how to learn from other people experience, success of failures. Only having a mentor is not enough, because a person will just copy or repeat what mentor suggest or did. But, to become successful, a person must be creative, so that that person will be able to surpass mentor. Mentor is just a person who will help to reduce number of failures, but be successful, a person must achieve everything himself.

I think becoming successful does not rely on one having a mentor. You can have a mentor and still not be successful like them, if you ain’t got the will, drive and determination. Cause if you’ve got the (will) in doing things rightly, it’s drives you with the determination of achieving success.

A mentor is like a backbone that fuels the zeal in oneself, building the courage and confidence knowing what goal is all about. And achieving it, is not giving up.

Hard work should be enough for success but even if you try to learn on your own to achieve success, sometimes the advice of others is useful but nowadays it is very difficult to find. A person who is more successful than you must know other successful people who will come to your need. Why there are so many self-help and self-improvement forum threads in the Economics forum? This forum is for discussing macroeconomics and global finance, not self-improvement.
You don't need a mentor. You need helpful information and self-discipline. Helpful information can be found all over the internet. You just have to search and learn how to distinguish the good info from the bad info.
The people, who need mentors think that the mentor is somebody, who is going to "spoon feed" them until they succeed. There are many people, who failed in life, despite having a good mentor. Having a good mentor doesn't guarantee success. And no, not every successful person had a mentor.

You do not need to have a mentor before you can become successful in life. There are many successful people in life that does jot have a mentor.

Some people only like after a role model and they may want to be like such people and work towards it.

But know that success is not about having a mentor or looking after someone as a role model. It is about how smart you are in achieving successes. Opportunity and exposure are also very important.

Likewise, people can also read books like Op alluded to both hard copy and online then build the kind of principle they want without necessarily going to one "godfather " ( what can also be called mentor) for some tutelage or direction about what to do in life and their finances.

Again, like you said, someone can build a moral character of success for his or herself by living a purposeful life, take their own adventural risk and survive afterwards. I have known of some stories of people climbing to higher echelon without support from people they know. What about the saying of destiny "helper " too? Destiny helper is not necessarily mentor but someone that can come in between the gap at a time of need and it may just be a random thing and one time thing. So, it is not always that people need mentors to be successful like you rightly said. Books like Rich Dad Poor Dad are instrumental to savings and building capital gradually.

That is not easy to find a mentor that will help you when you face a difficulty. Not many people who can honest to help others and always besides them to gives advice. But if you can get it from many people you know, you are lucky because you can solve the problem you have and you will have a chance to improve yourself. I think you can learn from many people and not just for one person because that will gives more knowledge and you will get more experiences from them. That is what I trying to do until now because I feel that having many people that can be my mentor will be better than just one so I can get more advices from them based on the situation that I meet.

I think that not all successful people have a mentor called, because here in our country there are many successful businessmen who do not mention a mentor, as long as the only common reason why they became successful is they just became patient and strategic so they reached success in life.

Maybe they had a mentor at the time when their life was moving forward, but it's not the case that they started having a mentor right away; it doesn't seem like that, and it's not a requirement to have a mentor to be successful in life.
