I would like to discuss this here to understand how many people decide to take this step to find a mentor?

Yes i think a mentor or having a role model is important in life but from the start of life because when you look at him u feel motivate and also you have a strong reason to keep moving forward but choosing a role model is also very important like when you see their achievements and think to youself that yes i will also choose the same steps so having this kind of mindset will keep your mind positive so i think a person should choose it wisely and also a person should believe on himself.

If you can pursue higher education through formal education, you will have many role models in front of you. I prefer choosing ideal teachers for advice. It is better to choose more than one ideal person than to choose one advisor from the beginning of life because one person cannot be knowledgeable about everything.

When you try to imitate a successful businessman, they may not give you the right advice. If you imitate an experienced investor, you will likely not succeed if you do not invest through analysis.

In my opinion, even if you want to imitate others after listening to or reading their success stories, you need to decide based on your own knowledge and financial capabilities. Take advice from successful people, but analyze carefully whether you can follow that advice before starting.

In those days, in my country Nigeria you have to join your uncle or senior brother in their shops or business to learn a trade, you have to stay for 10 years under mentorship,  at the end ,the mentee will still not be successful,  after spending 20 years in the trade, it's just a waste for time and resources in this era, before it was working but now it doesn't matter again because of social media,  if you need to learn anything you have to learn them online.

In my opinion, the idea of a mentor is useful in the early stages, when a person is still far from being independent and doesn’t know how to find solutions, learn from others experiences, or analyze information.
All in all, it’s a great solution for young people (in high school or college). It also works well when someone is taking their first steps, so to speak - "at their first job" or "in a new position". But in all other cases, it’s just an attempt to have someone "lead you by the hand through life" - and that’s a sign of dependence and weakness on the person’s part, and it won’t end well. In adult life, you very often have to be able to assess situations on your own, look for solutions, and take action.

I think at any stage of your life and career you still need mentors whom you look up to in certain areas of your life. Truth is at the early stages you will be dependent on them to guide you and walk you through over certain journeys you will be taken just as you have said but even when you become a man and can take care of yourself and handle your own business and responsibilities you still need these mentors in different areas because when you are going higher in life you will see those who was there before you your ability to let them teach you on how far you need to do to achieve that level they are still mentoring you.

By working in the wrong place, your energy and pain are wasted unnecessarily. It will be a very bad situation for anyone to come across a bad mentor, i will not say that bad mentor did not exist, because sometimes you get closer to someone before you can know what he or she can do.
