el salvador is continuing to hold a bitcoin reserve at central government level.. and yes they beat trump to first place, 3 years before trump even made an announcement, so more proof trump is not a inventor of idea's of a bitcoin reserve like some promote him as

but things are not looking good at citizen involvement level ever since the bad experience of LN being the backbone of chivo in 2021-22.. chivo dropped direct compatibility of LN with their chivo wallet and instead used alphapoint centralised exchange as their chivo backbone.

more recently el salvador revoked the rule that all merchants had to accept crypto aswell as dollar.. and instead made crypto a voluntary choice.
the amount of crypto usage by citizens in el salvador has declined...

People that sees bitcoin as threat to the USA currency are mainly those who don't have rough knowledge of why bitcoin was created and what it serves. They see it as a replacement of the US dollar instead of an alternative currency that serves as hedge towards fiat devaluation due to inflation.

Even myself I am yet to understand how bitcoin can simply replace the US dollar, or maybe those sponsoring the fears about bitcoin replacing the dollar upon approval of the reserve could do us the  favour of explaining how. Many are not envisaging the advantages of this reserve to the US economy for not  but in the future they will.

Generally I have a knowledge that fiats system has their functions so do Bitcoin, for anyone to even think that Bitcoin  will replace the dollar which is the currency of a country i think that's insane mindset, both Bitcoin and US dollar will work in line but will serve different responsibility that's what I understand and beside people having the fear of bitcoin replacing the US dollar should know that Bitcoin is not made handy yet and i don't think there's such plan on ground since it remain a digital currency.
I think some persons are bent on creating unnecessary fear among citizens without understanding things they way they ought to be, first off people should understand what's meant by reserve, resverve is just like preparing for future alternatives not for the purpose of replacing a nations currency as some people thinks, so for me it doesn't make sense when people just create misfeeling among individuals without good understanding and clarity.

Great news coming from the Czech Republic. Investing 5% of the country's reserve of about $146.13 Billion is close to $7.3 billion which is not a small sum to invest in Bitcoin. I guess more countries will keep proposing or making policies towards establishing Bitcoin reserves.

But I think many of them are waiting for the US to take the first step since it is the biggest economy in the world. The US move will determine if these proposals will be accepted or rejected in most countries. It is also possible that a brave European country might take the first bold step.

again the basel committee (whom drafted regulations for the BIS(bank of international settlements)) are recommending that from jan 2026 (previously drafted to execute/implement jan 2025) want banks of its membership(which czech is part of) to publish their bitcoin holdings from jan 2026 and once they reach 2%, to then only hold.. and then to mitigate risk, when the fiat market price of the hoard reaches 5% of their reserve they have to start selling some coin. so 5% is the upper limit of retention, 2% is upper limit of initial purchase
