I do believe it was needed. Leaving rates as they were would have caused a downturn in the markets, but with this expected rate cut they have remained somewhat “meh.” We must bear in mind that the ECB has rates at half the FED, so this indicates at least the beginning of the path to lower interest rates.

We are also here to play the long game. Two more rate cuts are expected this year, which means liquidity will be injected into the system, and we know where most of that liquidity will go.
