UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Season

It was a amazing match between Atlético Madrid and Barcelona. Earlier in the day, I’ would said I thought Atleti would pass the turn, even though Barcelona would win, and that’s exactly what happened. I get it right every now and then, just a bit of luck! Now, Atlético will almost certainly face Arsenal, who play very well but struggle against very defensive teams, as they have shown on several occasions. I’m sure Cholo Simeone will come up with something special.

Seeing ATM conceding two earlier before pulling one back in the first half,  expected both teams to score more and hope ATM remain victor and move to the next round but I was thinking Barcelona had a better chance now, especially while knowing they are team that do well in the second half to get a win.

The game ended beautifully for me with ATM moving to the next round, and their opponent who is more likely Arsenal will be weary of them especially seeing how well they have dealt with Barcelona this season, knowing fully well that they have the attack to capitalize on defensive lapses or anything resulting to a good chance.

Knocked out twice by Atletico Madrid one in Copa Del Rey now in Champions League then twice they won the first leg and Barcelona played catch up in the second and failed (No Remontada).
Two times they received a red card given to a center back.
Simeone has really mastered the art of knocking out Barça, he’ll go back to the league now and lose his next game…. 😔

Barcelona fans were quite sad today as their favorite team was eliminated from the Champions League. From the first minute, Barcelona dominated the match with two quick goals, but unfortunately for them, they were so complacent about easily breaking through Atletico Madrid's goal that they forgot to defend well before Lookman scored.

Although Atletico lost today match, they won on aggregate and advanced to the next round. I thought Barcelona would easily pose a threat to Atletico madrid after taking a two goal lead, But unfortunately, their hopes were dashed in the 31st minute. Garcia red card certainly threw Barcelona's game into disarray, and they struggled to find a way to score after playing with 10 men.

Yeah, this is the pitiful reality of Diego Simeone, and I don't even blame him, he even made it easier for Barcelona when he removed Ademola Lookman and his son from the match, that greatly influenced there attacking prowess, and I don't know what's wrong with the Barcelona CB's, we say Cubarsi is too young, we bring in Eric Garcia who is older and still same scenario, this is just too bad

There's nothing Barcelona can do again to take this match to extra time as they have been given a red card which will slow down their game and stop them from scoring one more goal. Some few days ago, I said that what happened between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in the semi final of Copa del Rey will be what will happen in their Champions League semi final tie, and from the look of things it seems I might be right.

There has being several red cards in the game each time these two meets and once again, Barcelona gets to play with 10 men for a foul on a potential goal scoring opportunity on Sorloth. Once they were 10 men, of course Atletico Madrid got charged up, they knew Barcelona wouldn’t be so confident going forward while playing with just 10 men and that would make their defense the more stronger. In the end, they managed to eliminate Barcelona. At least Barcelona gets to keep the Laliga but, their champions league journey ends tonight.

We have seen a lot of red card in the matches between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid this season, and any team that's given a red card always end up losing the match but Barcelona changed that narrative today. Barcelona would have gotten a third goal in the second half, but Garcia's red card slowed down Barcelona play and give Atletico Madrid the advantage to mark down Barcelona players and stop them from scoring a goal that would have taking the match into extra time. I wanted Barcelona to proceed to the semi final, but after Atletico Madrid won them at Camp Nou I changed mind and support Atletico Madrid because I knew Barcelona won't proceed to the semi final.

In Barcelona match, things could have gone a bit differently if it weren't for the red card. I don't know why but Barcelona's players acted as if they stubbornly didn't want to advance, though we can't say the same for all of them, let's say some players behaved that way.

Looking at the bigger picture, this year's CL winner will be Bayern Munich, provided they don't hit a snag against Real Madrid. If Real Madrid manages to eliminate Bayern, then they'll go on to claim the title as well.

Barcelona did well in this match, they didn’t perform weak, they did their best to win this match. And trust me if not for the Red card, Barcelona was showing sign to win this match but the red card made them weak, they couldn’t get the win. It was a tough match for Barcelona tonight, Atlético Madrid couldn’t wait to see any opportunity to win the match, they used every opportunity to see that they advance to the next round of the champions league, congratulations to Atlético Madrid.

Bayern Munich in the other hand will be playing against Real Madrid tomorrow, honestly first leg was a very tough match for Real Madrid. Can’t say anything yet till we see how tomorrow match will end, but mind you Bayern Munich is a very tough opponent for Real Madrid, I’m giving Bayern Munich the favorite to win tomorrow match.

I am sad  too because they did really well and got 2 early goals which we all thought was what they needed to turn things around. It was a perfect game as they scored 2 goals at first, we all thought that's the end for Atletico Madrid but somehow they stayed alive and score a goal, Barca scored a third but was ruled out for offside sadly. They did well to not win.

The red card influenced the game today again, I am sure they would have scored another goal but with a man missing it was difficult. They have themselves to blame for all the red cards because I believe without them Barcelona would have won comfortably.

This is a terrible season for Liverpool but I am more disappointed that they couldn't score a goal in their own home, it's really terrible.

Not just Hansi Flick, you would find this to be the case with almost every team that is good at the front. They often tend to play the high lines at the back, living the goalkeeper open to any break out in a one on one situation. PSG has being able to manage this real good though, they’ve played it good going forward and also defensively. Barcelona didn’t have their way today, they’ve played almost did, was up to a good start but, Atletico is just one difficult beat.

Honestly speaking, for a team that sacrifices defense from attack, it was really a poor game from the both part of the tactics, literally, it's only Yamal that is the attacking threat in that team and Rashford would be clowning the whole match and like a magic trick, he gets an assist, it's wild that this same defense still made the same error after the previous leg.

But looking at it clearly, there was nothing Eric Garcia could do since Sorloth was on goal and converting that chance would still end the game. It's just a matter of what ifs

Are you a Barcelona fan? Cause only Barcelona fans will be feeling sad about the extermination of their club tonight in spite of the 1-2 they had on score sheet , the aggregate did them dirty.

The two clubs play in one homely league and are familiar with one anothers playing style and techniques. D. Simeone has lingered in the laliga for a decade and more, it is not shocking he knows Barcelona in and out on how to play them. Congratulations to Atletico Madrid for not disappointing.

Liverpool did not tried any best, their best should have been tired in the first leg not the second when there was nothing hopeful to play for given the calibre of rival they have. Serious teams sealed the job in the first leg.

I agree that Barcelona did not play poorly; they played a very good game and did not allow Atletico to have easy passage. Simeone is used to playing Barcelona; he just wanted to manage the game to the end, and he was able to do so.

For Liverpool, I expected nothing from them; they did not disappoint as they did not score any goals in both legs.

With the attention now turned to tomorrow's fixtures, I hope Arsenal is able to beat Sporting even with the new injury blow, as Rice will be missing that game, potentially leaving our midfield open.

Atletico is playing at home therefore, they wouldn't be too focused on playing a defensive game because they have learnt their lessons from the second leg of Copa de Rey though, that game was played in Camp Nuo. Tonight match might end in a draw or just a goal difference. Atletico should use this opportunity to qualify to the semifinals because they have all the advantages.

You know is funny in the Copa de Rey how they won 4nil in the first leg and came back in the second leg to lose 3nil, they were lucky because defending against a side that loves to press forward is very bad for business and if they feel they are done in this encounter in the first leg so they have to relax then they should think again because Barcelona are only seeing a goalless game even if Atletico Madrid are leading by 2 goals, this battle is still open for any of these two to get through to the semis so non of them should attack and forget to defend well if not it will end in a bad way for either of them who fail to protect their goalpost, I trust Atletico Madrid if they have the lead they will start introducing the system of delay tactics and frustrating the Barcelona players, I pray the actions we would see won't make the ref red card any player.

there is no way Barcelona will be seeing that two goals as a no goal draw, the truth is Barcelona right now is definitely downcast by that two goals, and again i trust Diego will never allow such a thing to repeat itself no not again, and mind you Atletico madrid is more desperate for this trophy than any of these remaining teams, so that two goals really count, and there is no way they are never going to score again in this second leg, the earlier we realize Barcelona is out of this tournament the better for us, they should go focus on the spanish la liga and leave the UEFA champions league for the ones the spirit has chosen for this season.

I agree with some of what you said but talking about Atletico Madrid as the team that is more desperate for the UCL title I disagree, if they are as you said what about Arsenal? For me these two teams are the ones that have it in mind like they are ready to do anything to win the title especially Arsenal because they have never won it before it became Champions League. Atletico Madrid will have to face Arsenal because I believe that they will eliminate Sporting tomorrow. Barcelona are seriously losing and at the same time looking for the 3rd important goal that could have given them a 3rd chance, that is what I love about them always pushing to get something and the opportunity they were searching for which is to play extra time but the way Atletico Madrid organize themselves things became different from how they played last week or even in both legs in the Copa de Rey, a different approach was introduced in tonight's game that is why it became hard for Barcelona. Flick tried to do something different which I felt would have worked if they are the ones controlling the game but Atletico made it clear that they are still going to play the semi final game.

It is really bad that Barcelona play with  a 10-man team in both the first and second leg against Atlectico Madrid, something i never expected to happen in the second leg. But Barcelona had a pretty good game from the first second until the last minute,  withholding possession and creating goal scoring chances.

Atlectico really did well with the quick response but I still think Barcelona deserved to move on to the next phase of the Champions League ahead of Atlectico Madrid. On the other hand, PSG also qualified with a 2-0 victory over Liverpool where the Reds failed to score a single goal in the first and second leg with a 4-0 score aggregate. Arsenal remain the only surviving English team as they take on Sporting in the second leg of the competition.

I knew Liverpool will not win the second leg, PSG scored late yet winning was very certain knowing they already had high chance after the first leg. The second leg only made things even worst for Liverpool because they were not competitive as other club as mentioned Chelsea aside Chelsea, Barcelona also had their moment and didn’t mess things up although Barcelona is eliminated but, they really showed up this time if only they had more advantage at first.

The red card was the main problem in both legs, Atletico Madrid has chance to be confident in the games in both legs after the red cards, if not, they might lose the position to Barcelona because Barcelona started well and keep fighting till the end; but for Semeone to have seen the advantage of the red card, he and his entire squad were happy because it was a lift in pressure for them, and at last they did it.

Hensi Flick should have studied the game well, and remember the two times Barcelona were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Atletico Madrid to take this match personal but he failed and they are out of the Champions League again by Barcelona in the quarterfinal.

Liverpool’s best wasn’t enough in this match, they were not creative in this game at al, they acted like average team and went down after all the tireless effort they put in the entire game, they conceded two goals in the last 20 minutes of the game.

The manager will only instruct the players not to allow the kid to find his way and the mistakes you said may...what am I saying, the mistakes must happen not only on Atletico Madrid side but to the Barcelona side too. From the first encounter both teams came out to play each other without fear but as soon as the red card visited the game, the atmosphere changed and it almost became a one sided affair. Both teams won't sit back and wait for the other team to attack and get goals, they must defend especially Atletico Madrid, they're good at that but ones Barcelona start doing that rubbish of a game plan the high line I believe Atletico will have to come out and aim their runs to get better chance to bury the game.

Now back to the discussion about Yamal and Diego Simeone. I hope you watched the match. Full-time, Yamal didn't have the opportunity to penetrate through that Simeione defense. I could count how many successful dribbles he had and the number of XG created from that right flank. Although he scored a goal, it was a goal of chance, a mistake made by Simeone's defender. We all wished for Diego Simeone not to go defensively today, and I'm happy it worked out just right.

The champions league is just one crazy game and how Barcelona was eliminated was a shock and even there fans and they were not happy and they are alreadybputtjng there hopes in the next season at least they still have the la Liga so it is not a total lose for them and this is just amazing and they fought till the end and I was curious when the game started and now the winner of the game is already known. And Barcelona was fight but the end was not in there favor.

And advancing to the next round means they still won it was not Something that seems to be know but Atletico Madrid would be happy because they did not do much in this game and even with the likes of them the best thing is to make sure you win your first leg to be on a safe side because and gradually the champions league is already coming to an end and the winner is going to be know soon and tomorrow is for Arsenal, let's see if they will cross to the next stage.

Barcelona played in about the first 20 minutes or less, then once Atletico Madrid came back to the game, we couldn’t see Yamal anymore. I have seen so many mistakes from Madrid’s players but Barcelona couldn’t take advantage of that as they had also the same amount of mistakes and weaknesses in defensive lines.

Today it was a game between coaches, Simeione succeeded in his goal, he didn’t focus in defense as always but knew and saw through the gaps of Barcelona. Flick in the other hand kept almost the same strategy that’s why the red card came just like in first leg match.

Again Barcelona is out of UCL like every year, that’s said to be honest but was expected. All fans now are waiting if Real Madrid will follow the same lead or surprise us.
