The poor performance of the super eagles doe not hit me as a surprise anymore cause it is obvious that these guys have no zeal in them whenever they represent Nigeria in any competition, cause nobody holds them responsible for any failure,

They all belong to various clubs in Europe that pay them heavily hence they do not care how Nigerians feel whenever they underperform cause the badge of the national team holds less value to them than that of their various European clubs.
If you say no zeal in their performance dont you think something is wrong that is why the interest and seriousness os not their. Every player in thw world honours their national team and feel great to represent and if you see Nigeria players in the opposite that is to tell something is wrong. If heavy pau can make thrm represent thrur clubs very well it means the club is doing the needful and if the same should be done in the super eagles, the players will put more zeal and seriousness.  I which this can be look into very well because it is even becoming worse .

There is some truth in what you’re saying. There is no more iota of zeal in the players again, everyone is now playing for the money which is not a good thing. Firstly, if you’re been taken care of well by your country, you’ll feel happy and be more proud playing for them but if not catered for as it should be, the zeal will be lost and the performance will all be poor.

We are lagging behind and a lot of things needs to be done to correct the wrongdoings so far. National team is not an easy call up, and players use to hope they are called up and get to play for their national team even once in their career. That’s to show how big playing in the national team is.

When Politics mingles with football, the exact result is what we are seeing in the National team, there is nobody to hold anybody accountable, the officials are not checkmating each others move to ensure that they are in line, they are just doing as they like. The players know better how bad the system has become even better than we the supporters because they are the ones with the firsthand experience of the inner dealings, we only know the surface. See the state of our stadiums and sports auditorium, see the support shown to sports men representing our country even in other sports, the system is just poor, and as long as bad government continues, I do not think we will see any changes in our football. I am waiting for them to start blaming the coach, when we all know he is not the problem.

Before football was being played for passion and whatever they get in return they take it with all smile, to them what matters most is that they’re representing their nations on the international stage. But now, with the influx of money and business in football the narrative has changed and most of them when they get to the top they don’t play for passion again, they put money first. The problem here is that if a player gets injured while playing for his country in international duty, it’s the club that will take the full responsibility of the players treatment and most of this clubs before releasing their players especially the African players who they’re aware they have a very bad pitch will caution the player to play safe and not involve in a serious tackle that will lead to injury, sometimes the club even try to block some of them from going to represent their countries and even if they release their players they still have to write to the national coaches not to play them in all the games or better still they don’t play full minutes. That’s the situation most players here find themselves and except the countries football federation and management sit up and do the right thing in terms of the welfare of the players it’s going to be hard for this players to compete.

Perhaps if the hunger is no longer there, I still believe there are thousands of players in the local leagues who are hungry to represent the country and make names for themselves. We don’t have to be over reliant on our foreign based players.

We have Sampson SiaSia, we have Austin Eguavoen, we have Emmanuel amunike, these are Nigerian finest coaches that are still very much alive. You need to understand the kind of quality players Sampson SiaSia brought to the national team, these guys understand the terrain more than a foreign coache, I don't see what Eric Chelle is doing that our local coaches cannot do even better, let's start the corruption fight from there, because the needs to bring in a foreign coach bring more money into the pocket of NFF and that is why they always sort for them.

I never support a Nigerian coaching the Super Eagles. It is where favoritism and tribalism will begin again. The Super Eagles coach is doing his job. If you noticed, the loss to Guinea-Bissau was the first loss since he became the Super Eagles' head coach.

The names you mentioned are obviously former Super Eagles coaches. I think their time has passed. If we need a new coach, it has to be one of the new coaches in the system, and I will prefer someone who isn't Nigerian.

You don't have to blame these players because they are not treated very well as Nigerians that are playing for their own country.
The corruption in the NFF has made so many vibrant players to leave the league to play for other countries due to the respect and allowance they are getting. If the Nigerian government does not fix this problem that have been making players reluctant to deliver astonishing results, it will gradually affect the players that are striving and playing for the national team  when their wages are not being settled to make them motivated to play for well the country.

Having a home base coach is not the sole reason why favouritism and tribalism exists in the national team. I think the selection  comes from the top, if foreign coaches has been doing better why hasn't Nigeria been playing differently from what it has been. The last time the national team won a trophy was when a home base coach was the head coach, Stephen Keshi who's a Nigerian helped the Super Eagles win the AFCON in 2013, I as a Nigerian, I believe strongly in home base coaches. If they can get the right man, allow him to do his job, pay and treat him the way they usually treat foreign coaches things will take a different turn for our team.

That is where the highest level of corruption will happen, it takes little to bend a Nigerian man who desperately needs the job. I see nothing wrong with the current coach, at least not to the extent where he needs to be sacked.

Our players are the main problem behind our recent underperformance, they were poor in the last game against Guinea-Bissau, the pitch was also part of the problem, but we can't keep giving many excuses, our performance was terrible, both as a team and individually.

The problem starts with the NFF, but it doesn't end there. We have had issues where bonuses were paid late, poor logistics, selections made based on political influence and all. This has made the Super Eagles neglect the team they were suppose to pay the price for because the entire system kept failing, this doesn't exclude the officials.

Other African countries like Morocco and Senegal run their federations with a plan, the coach are given time, also a criteria for team selection, players know their bonuses and conditions are settled before they travel. In a settings as this players don't need to be lectured about patriotism. The all commit to their nation because the system respects them.

If you get a home based coach and foreign based players, what difference will it make relative to what we have now? Till tomorrow, we are a nation that don't value local product be it players or coaches and most times, the respect is always missing with home based coaches or players. The international guys will not submit 💯 and that's going to give the coach serious work to do.

We need to talk about our players that have chosen to be nunchalant and unserious even when they are playing key games. That sense of entitlement that makes them believe that they always have a spot in the team ought to be dealt with first before any other thing.

The system and structure is never short of what you have said. Maybe it is something the national football body needs to look into to further forestall any move made by a local coach upon assuming office as the head coach. Such act does not promote sportsmanship and unity because other tribes who are in the team would frown at it.
Yes we have good coaches of our national origin but they would definitely be tribalistic to some extent which I would not argue with you but in other to checkmate such activities, there should be a proper supervision of activities including the schedule call ups to ascertain how open minded the technical team including the head coach is.

Well I think Morroco is ever ready to host the nations cup anytime they’re called upon because they have the standard facilities, that’s what it means to have a working government. I think if Nigeria have what it takes to host the nations cup this would have been an opportunity for them to qualify for the competition automatically because as it is right now they’re not in a good position to qualify for the tournament and it will be a really big shame to miss out again in the nations cup after failing to qualify for the last two world cups.
If the Nigeria government had the intention of hosting the Africa Cup of Nations they would have made all the necessary arrangements and build standard facilities that will qualify them to host the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Since any country hosting Africa Cup Nations automatically qualify for the competition, I even like as Nigeria didn't have what it takes to host the Africa Cup of Nations so that if they fail to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations after failing to qualify for the World Cup it will show that this current Super Eagles players aren't ready to play for Nigeria so new players who will be willing to defend the Nigeria badge and get excellent results should be added into the Super Eagles team.

I won't blame who is against Nigeria coach towards our team because overtime they have not show good result, one will think it's arrangements to take bribe rather doing the sole called real work they chose to, we are know that our coaches easily get issues with the players on the ground of invitation where some Will be chosen to be invited while those who undergoes constant training is benched, I heard a fans who claimed to be closer to a member of our football team who complained of improper selection even in the mist when they needed all odd to ensure they secure a qualified for competition. Our coaches as indigenous coach are not doing well not as result of professionalism but been affected by the system where things refuse to work as powers by corruption.

Nigeria will not be allowed to host the African cup of nation if they have all the required standards because the country is facing a lot of insecurities they will not be voted because other African counties will be scared of coming in with their players to stay that long because of the fear of kidnappers and bokoharam which the country is facing for a very long time. Yes they get automatic qualification to be in the competition because they are the host nation but you think they can start building a standard stadium within few years don't you think they will also swallow the money meant for the stadium like they do to the millions of dollars they get from FIFA for the development of grass root football, the super eagles is not the problem of the national team the NFF that is using the team as a form of business is responsible for the poor performance of the players.

Do you think the Nigeria government has the intention of hosting the Africa cup of nations? If they are really serious, they will have to build standard facilities, make sure they work on the security of the country, but our leaders are not going to do that, that’s why I believe the African cup of nations cant be held in the country for now. If you see the kind of facilities we have, then you will know that the African cup of nations cant be held in the country for now. The government will prefer to embezzle the money instead of building standard facilities.

A country that haven’t been able to fight insecurity in the country, how will the host the African cup of nations, are the going to endanger people from other countries life, it’s going to be so shameful that kidnappers attack players from other countries. With the situation of the country now, hosting the African cup of nations is not what am expecting soon.

I think you should make a re think of what you said saying you will never support a Nigeria coaching of the Super Eagles, you see this Favoritism’s and tribalism are not the only major problems of us Nigerian’s coaching even those foreign coaches have their problems too everyone has they own problems too….

The lost to Guinea Bissau was not an intentional act by the coach, anyway where is it written that a first loss means the coach is not doing a great job? At some points we just need to understand that regardless results go beyond just one game, some time the players might be lacking….

It best to understand that the former coaches have ruled their times but you made to understand that bringing in another foreign coach would not solve the problem in fact bringing a foreign coach who those not have an idea of our culture in football…With some little knowledge I think all we need is a a modern Nigerian coach who understands the players, the pressure, and with a good understanding of football game and the system will connect better with the team…..

We have had this debate over the years, and I have never heard someone mention tribalism as their reason to support foreign managers. Football is the one thing that unites us as a country. When I’m watching Nigeria play in any tournament, I am not thinking about what tribe the players are from. It wouldn’t matter to me if the entire starting XI are from one family as long as they are winning matches.

Right on point. When it come to us as fans we don’t care about any tribe at all. Our goal is just to win, this because it football that unites us together. But if we look at it the truth is, the true problem it not even about the coach but the NFF and their politics. If a foreign coach is being bought fourth NFF just use it to do business. If local coach is being use officials will want to dictate the players he must invite, when he refuses, to frustrating him they will to owe him his salary.

Tribalism would be a problem if the team is made up of players that are not up to the standard yet are played because they are well known by the coach and the staff. We have lots of talent in the Nigerian League that will play for the national team with all their might.

I don't mind either if the entire team is made up of one family, provided they are winning for the national team. However, the result is the opposite. The players familiar to us on the national team are not making the nation proud at all.

I think the major problem of the NFF is politics and not even tribalism because at the end, the politicians would want the manager to be answerable to them and field whichever players they want him to field without considering if those players can fit into the manager's plan for the particular game. Choosing the NFF executives too are political and these people also determine who becomes the manager and the player recruitment.

Bringing in a foreign coach does not give any assurance that there will be an improvement overnight. So it's better to allow the manager to do his job since he looks more promising right now even after the loss. I'm not against having a local coach too because the last AFCON was won by a Nigerian coach so it's possible if the NFF can leave politics while making the choice of who becomes the coach.
