Look how all our Nigerian superstars are having a good time at their clubs, but when they come for international duty, it will be a bad result.
Awoniyi scored for Coventry yesterday, Tolu also scored for Ajax, Osimhen as usual always scoring/ Josh Mbeumo scoring for Le Havre this week.
Nigeria have quality players. I don't know how they keep messing up when they come home.
Truth be told, our Nigerian Football Federation is poorly managed, and likewise they lack the substantial financial capabilities to be able to run its affairs without compromise. Because if I'm not mistaken, I could remember one time one of our Super Eagle players was complaining of he using his own money to book hotel when they were to play an away match in a different country, of which we all know that this would have been the responsibility of the Nigerian Football Federation. And we all know that things like this can demoralize players from giving their best when its not been appreciated by both the goverment and its organizing agencies.

I guess you are referring to John Mikel Obi because he was the one who made that claim even though Samson Siasia disputed the part of him paying for flights but paid for accommodation and feeding. Whichever one he paid for it was really embarrassing to hear that because Alex Iwobi also said that most of the players do book flights for international duties with their own money which isn't supposed to be so. The NFF really needs to be sanitised because their is a lot of bad people in there that doesn't want the progress of the team that is why they always deny them the enabling environment to feel comfortable to that they can be able to divert funds to their personal wallets.

I hope we will all agree with me that if there is going to be a checkup on every system or setup under the government, we are going to discover a lot of abnormalities going on, and this could be so disheartening, that is where sometimes we may even choose to stay put without interfering to some affairs because we won't be pleased at what we are going to discover along the line, I don't know if I am to blame the generation or the kind of mentality people have over doing the wrong thing than going for the right one.

After the end SARS killings everybody is playing safe in Nigeria, when it comes to protest matters, nobody wants to die or be arrested for a cause that doesn't directly concern them and I don't think that a lot of football lovers will come out to protest about football matters. Numbers counts when there is a protest in a country, if after a lot of hypes about a protest and on protest day you see a few people on ground to protest live it wouldn't drive home their demands, it is mainly the organizers of protests that ends up hitting the streets to protest, many affected Nigerians will just relax. The worst of the matter is that our corrupt politicians and officials doesn't care about protests, the level of corruption in the country have given these criminals audacity to do what they like because they believe that nothing will happen to them.
I don’t really see the need for Nigerians to fear simply because the end SARS protest didn’t go as planned, if you even check well the end SARS protest actually sent a clear message to the government, it made them very scared to know that Nigerians could wake up one day and fight for the truth, this Nigerian government are not ready to do the right thing both in sports, education, security and the economy, every Nigerian is feeling the hardship in different sectors, are Nigerians really getting the best of life? So why are they afraid to come out and speak out.

No country changes without a protest and revolution, check most great countries of the world, they one time in the past had a protest, revolution or war, you can’t defeat a strong man without some form of pressure, to me any sector that isn’t getting good welfare from the government should stand up and speak out, i believe that with constant pressure the government will definitely do the right thing one day.
That's true; no country changes without protests and revolution, but in our country, I don't think it will actually work because of the different religions and tribe we have in the country, people not believing and accepting the same motion to make the country better without bring tribe into it.

Let me put it to you that religion and tribe differences are what are killing our country up to today. If Nigerians can learn to do away with those things, I promise you that our country will be a better place because people will have one mind to bring down any government that is not working in people's favor without being sentimental about tribe and religion

Can you imagine? Because it's really embarrassing hearing that our player will have to book his flight with his own money, pay for hotel accommodations, including feeding just to play an away match while representing the country. Whereas all these were supposed to be paid for by the Nigerian Football Federation. And these are the kind of poor welfare that discourages players from not giving their best while playing a game, because moreover they already know that they are the ones to pay back their flight home without any financial assistance by the Federation. So until our football Federation get things right that the welfare of players is one thing that could never be overemphasized. It will always be hard seeing these guys giving out their best. And the funny part is that government is not doing anything about it, or either ready to do anything.

And on top of that you’ll still find out that this players are being owed about 3 months salaries and other match bonuses. Several case of players not being paid their match allowance or salary have been reported and one keep wondering why the Federation won’t pay their players their bonuses not that the money isn’t there, they have the resources needed to make this players comfortable to enable them perform really well and build a strong national team capable of winning the World Cup, but they won’t do it because of their personal gains.

I'm surprised that somebody who is living in Nigeria is bringing an opinion on protests. Protests have never worked and fixed anything in Nigeria, it is better not to bring people to disturb the streets for no reason, Nigeria is playing a dirty game, same with the NFF.
You have just simply put it. There's not been any period where protests have worked for us. It has always been politicized and lacks result. Anyone who goes out there saying they are protesting for one thing or the other are just wasting their time to me and do not have any solution to offer. Or are simply being used as political tool to drive people's attention away from the main course. What's happening in NFF is something which needs to be addressed internally by the powers at the top or the authorities never by any form of protesting or kangaroo agitations.

The thing is that, if you've sat down with any of these NFF staffs, you will see that there is a lot of bottlenecks in our administrative process. The ability for the finance department to release money is always an issue, you will see that sometimes money that has been budgeted for has not been released by the CBN. Sometimes even what the ministry might budget for would not be released to them completely, so a whole lot of complex issues that has to do with the government also interferes.

Bad government has been responsible for most of the loses we have been experiencing from the super eagles performances in previous matches and we are going to see more crazy scenes in the future if their is no change in the government by January election. We have great people and skilled players that can make Nigeria the number football team in the world but corruption has affected every sectors of the country.

It's a known fact not to be arguing when a finger touches oil it affects the rest, everyone government as leaders must have words of encouragement in all ramifications, through financial support, words and logistics including their prayers and presence to give the call motivation, how many times have you seen our president attention vital match of super eagles right from buhari regime, only goodluck who really wants the growth and well being of the nation was doing it and Peter obi, it's Peter obi that even propelled the government to send bice in of the match he attended, countless time that supper eagle players support their team for logistics, remember Mikel obi suppsor their team for world cup else Nigeria would not have been in the world cup who NFFand the rest of the body are there embezzling, if we recall one of the athletic sports Nigeria attended it was recorded they Nigeria need to borrow bicycle from another country for their representative to perform in stage how will you expect good results in such management, I won't blame any of Nigeria team because Nigeria happened to them check many of Nigeria outside if they are performing no body will be good where the people are not given you what you want until our government as well management NFF stand right the system won't change but worsen.

I wonder how we got to this low level in this country where corruption is so bold that the NFF will not fulfill their obligations to Nigerian players that are representing our national team, I wonder how they get away with this level of corruption because I'm sure that there must be allocation from the federal government to the ministry of sports. It is a big shame to hear that Nigerian players are paying their bills to represent this country, it's not as if the country cannot afford to treat these our heros with respect. If the federal government and the ministry of sports are keeping mute then you should know that they are part of the problem because they cannot feign ignorance about what these our players are passing through. Don't be surprised if the super eagles never performs uptimally again because there are no incentives to motivate them.

It's all corruption. Greater percentage of the bottleneck is still the middle men who has to sign before funds get released. I think the problem is that everything concerning financing is always seen as a business without considering the necessity of the task they will use the money for. They delay it unapologetically leaving the players to suffer. During the WAFCON 2024, I gathered that even their training kits could not arrive Morocco until during their semifinal game. They had to manage themselves and still got a result for the country.

Most of the government promises you read online is not always kept and when a promise to one player is not kept, the next player will already understand that if it gets to his turn, he will also face same treatment.

It is absolutely wrong for a player who is representing a country to be treated badly. It is a very big shame for them, because we cannot continue to be draw backward due to greed and selfish interest. Players are meant to be properly taken care of, but it seems to be different in our country. Honestly, I don't blame them anymore, because there is nobody who would feel happy when they are not treated well - you must definitely feel bad at all times. At least they should make everything easy for them and see if they will remain the same.

Woah! This is really sad and embarrassing. Like aren't these guys ashamed of themselves, what a horrible representation of Nigeria.

Our women's team should be well taken care of because those ladies are trying. They're playing with passion and love for the game and the country, unlike our men's team.

Normally, they don't pay salaries in the country side—especially on the men's team—but yet, the designated budgets should be allocated—and maybe that's why they don't play with much zeal. That's why I don't blame them that much, but yet, it's not like we're the worst in terms of budget allocation. In some countries out there, their players sometimes sponsor somethings too you know, even Messi has done so—and not just him.

Yes! I don't agree with our government et al, but I don't like how nonchalant our senior men national team players are representing us out there. I know they can do better—they've been displaying it in their respective clubs—but they rather not, why do they even bother to come?

Playing for the national team shouldn't be about money, it should be about pride, about glory; it should be a bragging right. Don't get me wrong, I don't support the government but I'm really repulsed on how our boys are representing us.

it's really embarrassing hearing that our player will have to book his flight with his own money, pay for hotel accommodations, including feeding just to play an away match while representing the country. Whereas all these were supposed to be paid for by the Nigerian Football Federation.

I don't think it has gotten to this extent, most times the reason why you are seeing a player doing all those things by themselves is not because the club cannot afford a flight tickets for all the players but however comfortability is usually the reason because is not all the plane most players would love to board so actually for those who has money would get the one they would be more comfortable on, in terms of accommodation definitely the club might not also give them the best suitable accommodation because of their greed for money so actually for those who wouldn't like the place they gave them would prefer to get a different one for themselves so this is the reason you are hearing that some of the super eagles players pays everything with their own money.

Protest in this country is not worth it anymore, when the talk of protest cones up, the same people would sabotage the protest and in some cases they would also form a protest to counter the same protest they were part of. The protest thing is now like a business were the  sabotage themselves to the agencies and politicians just to gain favour on cash and in kind. This is why it seems protest is no longer reliable in the country because it is a waste of time and it will mean a lot that time wasted on protests when used for business and other meaningful activities, it would yield positive results.
You know the painful problem in all this protest of a thing is that the fact that it was the people vs that government but now it has turned from government to people vs people….

And the most uncommon thing I see people seeing doing now is that they are the ones shouting we must go and protest but the next day they collect money from the organizers to even counter the pros test against the same protest….

The sets of people who does such are not really in for whatever protest they want to organise or have already organised all they care is what they can get out of it because they know they government would definitely infiltrate them and give them an offer so they would take advantage of such opportunity to champion any protest and still abandon it to form a protest against the mainstream after taking mouth watering offer. We've seen several cases of such on our society and when they are asked why hey turned against the mainstream protest they were part of they begin to say things totally out of place against their initial vision just because they got offers from the powers that be.

To send a message street protests is not even necessary, fans already voted with their attention.
You're not far from the truth, the lack of attention to local league sent a message to the federal government since the NFF leadership is so corrupt and unreliable, people simply abandoned following their league and maybe they lost sponsorships as well.

Quote
Millions of Nigerians youths tune in to the premier league every weekend, instead of filling local stadium or even supporting domestic leagues.
Actually, European leagues have gained more viewership in Nigeria since the leagues are more organized and entertaining, many people would always prefer to even stream it than streaming local league.

Quote
Empty stadium hit NFF right in their pockets 😊 until leadership run thing properly and fix local football
What do you expect, people got fed up with their stupidity. In my state, NPL doesn't have any reputation, so I'm sure their ticket sales, shirt sales and sponsorship greatly reduced as many people lost interest in watching live.

I wonder how we got to this low level in this country where corruption is so bold that the NFF will not fulfill their obligations to Nigerian players that are representing our national team, I wonder how they get away with this level of corruption because I'm sure that there must be allocation from the federal government to the ministry of sports.
You know that we naturally have this entitlement mentality that makes it seams like because most of the guys laying in the national team are doing well for themselves at the league level that they can afford to carter for their needs even when they are representing the country in this particular context. it might surprise you to note that most of the NFF official might be taxing them anytime they come to play for the national team. it is indeed a disheartening thing.

With all the resource we have, we can not invest in education, the military is complaining, the sporting sector is a mess and we want to see a team that is doing well? if the players are not getting the right treatment that is due to them, then just be sure that they will never put in their all while [laying for the national team.

It's possible that the NFF is taxing them because they're after money and don't care if things goes south. It's annoying to see that we are performing poorly and below standard in international competitions just because of greedy and incompetent NFF officials. I don't know why everyone is only after his personal gains when handling public office.

I can remember this when it happened, I think the senior player amongst them then which was Mikel Obi was the one that booked the hotel for them. It was such a shameful thing to be seen from the giant of Africans. The Nigeria Football federation lacks discipline and are corrupt and they are not accountable for their actions, these amongst others are what is causing all this we are seeing. The root of this matter is the whole country itself, no accountability whatsoever and so much mismanagement of funds have really affected every government parastatals.
