Hello, I think the change in total coins would not be good for the currency, after the entry into Cryptsy that we mistakenly placed 50,000,000,000 coins and what that is costing people know that they are 15,000,000,000, tell them you are now 10,000,000,000, does not seem right.
Wonder currencies could reduce the cap by mining 10,000,000,000 and from there the following 5,000,000,000 that were using the POS?
That would leave the lid on the 15,000,000,000 coins and original step would apply a POS (which seems it is well accepted in the market)

Ah! Change the logo once!!!

What he means is: Cryptsy made a mistake in coin description saying there are 50 billion coin cap, when there's actually 15 billion coin limit.

Source code says 50 billion, so cryptsy is correct in what they added. Randomness of block reward accounts for difference in reality vs the code. I am still looking into it to be sure.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Have to consider what the reward for mining will be once max coins are issued. This might lower the security of the network significantly.
If we limit to 10 billion, adding a .01% inflation might be an option.

From a technical advantage side of the house, I can't think of any innovations that would advance us beyond the others. Updating to POS since it is the flavor of the week will have significant issues. Dif adjustment seems to be doing well enough, we have plenty of SAT on the market to allow for use as a currency.

Coin speed seems fine.

If the issues can be overcome, POS seems to be the best way to go honestly. Plus, limiting the coin's total amount would limit supply and thus boost its price I think.

Actually, making this coin entirely inflationary by making it POS with 2% annual interest isn't necessarily a bad call either. POS should definitely be the future of crypto currency I think.

This. +1

Possibly with less than 1% interest.

Ah! Change the logo once!!!

What he means about the logo is that the mac and windows wallets has the old cartoon logo, we would like to see the actual logo we use in the new wallets!

I agree that POS is a good idea. But the percent per annum shall be not more than 1-2%. A good example of Blackcoin.

Agreed. We can discuss and decide on a percentage.

Either way, the coin seems to be at a good place for a decisive change. Thanks dev for letting us know about the updates and giving us time to get ready.

I wonder if it's possible to do a pos/pow hybrid, then switch over to pos completely? Either way, update should arrive soon.

For historical reference for this thread.
https://github.com/Kryptoz/Saturncoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp
line 843

int64 static GetBlockValue(int nHeight, int64 nFees, uint256 prevHash)
{
    int64 nSubsidy = 0;

    if(nHeight == 1)
return 666500000 * COIN;

//Random block reward between 1 and 250000
    std::string cseed_str = prevHash.ToString().substr(8,7);
const char* cseed = cseed_str.c_str();

long seed = hex2long(cseed);
int rand = generateMTRandom(seed, 249999);

nSubsidy = (1 + rand) * COIN;

//1% chance for reward to be doubled
long seedtwo = seed + 14;
int randtwo = generateMTRandom(seedtwo, 100);

if (randtwo == 40)
nSubsidy = nSubsidy * 2;

//Block reward is 2x on first day, 1.5x on second day.
if (nHeight > 100 && nHeight < 1200)
nSubsidy = nSubsidy * 2;
else if (nHeight > 1199 && nHeight < 2300)
nSubsidy = nSubsidy * 1.5;

//Reward cuts in half every 30,000 blocks
nSubsidy >>= (nHeight / 30000);

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}
