Since OP yinyangteam recently posted, why people are saying the devs are gone?  Excuse me for noob questions I am trying to cut through the FUD to see if depositing some BTC into an exchange to catch falling knife is worth it or not.   With MintPal showing a bull trap with general downtrend, my confidence in this coin is eroding.

I just looked at the main.h file and it has plenty of PoS stuff in it.  Though I oddly don't see where they ever defined the minimum stake age which probably isn't helping.

Shows the level of testing they have conducted before releasing a coin, which was supposedly going to be used for financial transactions.
mogonzo admited on IRC that the premine was dumped by the dev. The market has lost confidence in WC. Sell and move on

As I said
All PoS-coin Wallets has such functions like Coin Control Features (Expert Mode), where you can glue your transactions.

For example, Darkcoin:

The same Blackcoin, Novacoin.
Where is this function in WC ? Nowhere.
So it's just a fake, not a PoS-wallet...

A quick update and an attempt to respond to the various questions and comments I've seen:

1. Re logs on "51% attack" analogy. These are accurate, but I was trying to explain to people how these would essentially be the democratic metrics we need if we're going to fork the coin.

2. A plan to fork the coin are underway. This will not be done without consensus and hope in the meantime the devs will appear.

3. Yes this is real. Yes the devs appear to be gone. Yes I am a real person.

4. We believe for now that the network and blockchain is secure, I am awaiting an additional updated report on this matter.

5. We have taken this action not to take control of the coin for ourselves, but because we were faced with either completely walking away from this.... or offering the community an opportunity to rally and take control of their coin in the spirit of crypto's original design. We will be handing control of whitecoin over to a transparent and accountable foundation unless the devs appear, or community consensus swings away from performing a fork.

more updates as soon as I can give them.

Can u explain why a fork is needed? No PoS?

I'm not a dev myself, but as I understand it the initial conclusions of those investigating is that the code needs major overhaul to make PoS work. Coins should have in fact staked within the first few days according to my understanding. If this is correct, the devs would have known this and that would explain their vanishing act.

The (the not whitecoin) coindev I spoke with suggested it could be a very time consuming process to make the current sourcecode work. When diff was checked, it turned out that WhiteCoin was a ghostcoin clone that had only a handful of lines of code in difference. If true, this dev suggested a simpler solution would be to fork on github to a source we know works, fork the coin, inject the blockchain, and send up the updates required. This could reduce the cost necessary for the procedure, because in my opinion the only way to make this work is to have reputable people who will identify themselves work on this. People like that need to be compensated for their time and effort.

As a note on that, I will not be asking for compensation on this and chunkypools is not profiting from the emergency blockchain protection port (which is 3377 BTW).

more updates I as I can

If not blackcoin, then CINNI.  No premine, competent dev, working multipool that supports X11 and scrypt.  Multipool here: http://www.cinnipool.co/

Exactly. At this point, WC is either going to zero or the relief rally will be huge if the problems get fixed. Could go either way. We'll see.

Seriously, this type of bullshit almost always happens when there is a premine or IPO.  When will the BTC community learn that 0 premine and 0 ipo = best?

AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM WHITECOIN

AUTHOR: Mogonzo

I stepped in as head of PR only a couple of days ago, and it's been a wild ride. Unfortunately it's about to get wilder for all of us.

After multiple reports of problems with WhiteCoin not staking several people began investigating this issue, among them two of the whitecoin pool operators. As the person responsible for communicating both chunkypools' and whitecoin's message, I've found myself in a pretty uncomfortable position.

I've submitted requests for clarifications to the devs on this issue, and have yet to receive a response.

What we've learned

The investigation into the staking issue is ongoing, however we have learned of a vulnerability in WhiteCoin's blockchain that will require emergency action by the community.

Chunkypools offers port to protect WhiteCoin against 51% attack: PORT 3377

If you want to protect your investment, rather than crashing the doors of mintpal I suggest you visit whitecoinpool.com, create a worker if you have not already, and point to port 3377.

It's my job to communicate for the people who contract my services. However, that contract exists with the public as well... and I must give it to you straight. Currently it would not take much hash to take over the blockchain and perform a hard fork.

One of the most important purposes in crypto is that if the devs get sick, hit by a bus, or abducted by a UFO...  the community will have an option to take over maintenance of a coin. WhiteCoin can easily recover from this problem if the community rallies to protect the blockchain with hash until an update can be performed.

ChunkyPools offers hard fork and the facilitation of an update if the community requests it

If the devs do not re-appear ChunkyPools and others have offered to facilitate the hard forking of whitecoin and the release of an updated fix. It would not take long. But it does require your support and consent.

I have a great deal of experience with online communities, and I'm here because I see the potential in this one. All we need to do is rally behind a port with our hash and make our voices heard.

The Whitecoin Community does have an option

There is enough community interest and exchange volume in this coin for us to turn this around immediately. I've been working tirelessly for weeks promoting this multipool and developing a re-branding that will blow away every single one of you. I will do everything I can to help you -if you want it- even if it means creating a WhiteCoin foundation as a community. Escrow services to raise funds and consensus based decision making systems are not very hard to implement.

I will try to answer as many questions as I can for you here.

Sincerely,

Mogonzo

As I said
All PoS-coin Wallets has such functions like Coin Control Features (Expert Mode), where you can glue your transactions.

For example, Darkcoin:

The same Blackcoin, Novacoin.
Where is this function in WC ? Nowhere.
So it's just a fake, not a PoS-wallet...

UTC didn't have any of that stuff.  They've been out for 3 months and just released a wallet that had coin control last week.  It should be expected, but by no means does it mean this one was fake.  As said above, most of the POS stuff is there.  It seems when modifying it from another coin, they didn't do it quite right.  There are pieces missing and comments matching the old code, but it definitely wasn't fake.

Sincerely,

Mogonzo

How many accounts have you got on BCY mogonzo first you post from UncleIro then from yingyang then from mogonzo ?

Uncle Iro is not mine I believe it is a misguided supporter. That situation should be handled. I was granted access to yinyangteam as part of my duties while head of PR for whitecoin, as that acccount had the op. This is my personal account.
