Hi Guys, I am new to the thread. Please can you help me sync my karma wallet? I downloaded the wallet and installed it but it says ""No block source available" 174 weeks behind... I want to buy some karmacoins from yobit before it skyrocket like Moon coin. I saw the new nodes and that the explorer is now synced and running but still I cannot get it runing on my pc. I don't have .conf file in the folder /appdata/roaming/Karma I am sorry for the stupid questions but I cannot figure it out Thank you for your support and understanding.

is the development still active
It depends, I guess. Karma is at an "almost dead" state but there are still quite a few people who follow it, so that means something. The coin was taken over in 2014 by a few members of the community and EastEagle has kept it on life support since. (Thanks, East and everyone!) Although I have very little time these days and am not a developer, I am willing to invest some $ in the coin towards development over the next year, simply because of 1) the potential for a coin like this to do good things; 2) the name; 3) the community. But of course it would have to be as professional as I attempted before, and even moreso. Karma was unique because of its vision, but in 2014 there many more transient developers and scams (and nefarious exchanges). The situation in the crypto world is less 'Wild West' now but still in early stages. The future could be bright for Karma, but this requires a small team of developers. I envision Karma having simply one clear goal and one clear vision: to be a way to reward people on websites, starting with a Wordpress plugin that acts as a simple wallet (focusing solely on rewarding bloggers and commenters on blogs). Once we can be the default for that, there's no stopping Karma. The wallet needs reworking, as would some of the specs. There appear to be too many coins in circulation (although I really don't think there are, since many were lost). Personally, I think there should be a 1,000,000:1 exchange, but maybe that's not a good idea.

Regarding a simple wallet (in your browser), I think it's best because the average person won't want to bother with the blockchain. They just want to pay for stuff. They don't care about the technology behind it.
It sucks downloading a new wallet (such as Reddcoin or Dogecoin) and having to spend a week (like I did for Mintcoin) processing blocks. Out of 5 wallets I downloaded recently, 4 crash repeatedly. Things like this will frustrate the average user, and that's a severe limitation towards mass adoption.
In my opinion, crypto needs to become a hybrid of decentralization and centralization. There needs to be a central authority for Karma that keeps the ledger together, but anyone should be able to clear transactions by themselves.
In other words, digital coins should function like paper money.
You have a dollar in your pocket. Therefore, you are able to exchange it for something else of value. Not only that, you can clear the transaction yourself without the need for a bank simply by handing it over. However, the bank has the power to issue the money (by fractional reserve) and every dollar has a serial number on it. A hybrid.
[As a sidenote, who's to say that a coin can't function in the same way? For example, people depositing Bitcoin with the KarmaBank and a certain multiple of Karma can then be issued to others, just like at a bank. The Bitcoin is then used to develop the coin, with a % kept on reserve. Just an idea.]
With crypto, everyone becomes the bank. Good idea in theory, bad in practice. The older cryptos get, the more inefficient they become. (Case in point: some Bitcoin transactions now take up to 30 hours. And can you imagine the average person waiting for 5 confirmations to pay for a coffee in a cafe? Not going to happen! The more popular Bitcoin becomes the more it will be used for larger transactions. This means that small transactions will take longer to process, I think) This is the pink elephant in the room.
What is the value being exchanged for Karma in this case? Social recognition. You hit the "Give Karma" button at the end of a blog post or blog comment and your name and Karma profile link are displayed.

I just realized Karma is still on an exchange. That's good It's quite cheap now. Can't get any cheaper. But I suppose it's at the right price now, considering there has been no development on this coin.

EastEagle spearheaded this effort and, while I think it has some merit, consider the Counterparty offering to be a derivative of Karma, not exactly Karma itself. If we go ahead with this coin (rescuing it for the second time .. heh) then we'd have to agree on some fundamental changes to the wallet (and number of coins in circulation, etc) In effect, we'd have to make it kickass.

Correct, Kosmost. I agree there are changes that needs to be done, especially on the wallet and the millions of coins...1:1 000 000 sounds good.
I hope you will finally have the support to put things in order.

I've always found that volunteerism doesn't actually work to get things done. If you want action, you have to provide financial incentive. So, either Bitcoin or cash would work, I think. If it was up to me I'd run Karma like a for-profit business, incorporate, have a board of directors, and hire people to do what needs to be done. I'm not too sure about offshore work, but I suppose it could work for a couple of non-vital positions. This may turn some people off (as it did before) but it's just a matter of staying competitive and crushing the competition (in a good, Karma-like way of course!) (A bit of history for the newbies... Karma was the first coin to incorporate as a business, among other firsts)

I noticed there is some activity on Yobit for Karma.
Please note that the work here has never been PnD. From what I know about most of the old faces here, the good work has been all about community and purpose rather than money.
What's more interesting for me is a slow and steady rise over the next 6+ months as we get development going again and pumping new life back into the coin, consolidate the vision, lay out the plan, update the wallets, etc.
I'm hoping for at least 20 satoshis in January 2018, conservatively. (If we go the route of the wallet browser plugin, I think 50+ is very possible)

What is the current price? Exchanges list it at 1 satoshi, but almost no one is willing to buy at that price. You said you see KarmaToken as a derivative of Karmacoin. How so?
