any hope for this dead coin?

Aww, the coin's not dead, not by a long shot. Just becuase there's no action here, doesn't mean its dead. Just give it time if you want innovation. 20% PoS is still paying 20%. Price is stable and maintaining. Nothing wrong there.

If you like action, check the first page of bittrex but be warned, it's a harsh market outside of OC. Wink

Do you know if Jim_Rambler is still working on it?  He hasn't posted here in a long time.

He hasn't posted anywhere or messaged me in a while, but he's still online everyday. He did say he needed OCdev to help wrap some things up, but idk if he's still got more coding to do as well, beyond what he needs wrapped up.

it's reasonable for investors to expect the people behind everything to update them once n a while... and then im not even talking about holding people's hand every hour of the day.
But just pop in once n  a while, explain the situation, it's mind boggling that when someone wants to create a serious coin with preferably a market cap above 1M+, he neglects the people he needs the hardest..

I can only conclude this is incompetence, or that the will to create a great coin is not there.
im a big holder, and would like to be updated on situations, and im sure most other investors think the same.

it's unfortunate that such an important aspect of a coin and it's community, is not being taken care of here.

I agree it reasonable, but if you'd like to attack the devs for their lack of public appearance, dedication, and communication, that's fine, but I feel you are aiming that statement towards me as well, I feel there's not much more I could do for the coin without taking control myself and that's not going to happen. I'm only the admin at OCS.info, and I created the contest program of my own doing and that was supposed to be my job here. I've become the spokeperson/PR guy since I'm the only one here as a focal point listening to everyone - which, I didn't sign up for - but I care about all of us here and is why I didn't mind being everything I've become, so that's why I feel you are attacking me as well.

A couple of community members have come to me and are willing to devote time and OC, but as we have discussed and agreed, we won't do anything until OCdev returns. It's the same reason I haven't run any contests. Why PR a coin if the dev isn't here putting in the effort? I have a contest for us to fill time, but that's exactly what it is, a time filler and I believe it would actually do more harm than good at this point to attract attention.

This is purely pointed towards OCdev who has pulled this stunt before. Why would i blame the PR guy who is dependent on the actions of some dev, and in the end cant change anything about a situation like this. I was going to mention in the post that I wasn't directing this at you, but i thought it would be clear.

Also, pointing out that the dev is not being involved with the community, is hardly an attack. Let's call it an observation.
Don't get me wrong i like this coin a lot, and like I said am holding a significant amount so its not like im trying to harm oc at all.

Thanks, I know you were directing most it toward the dev, but what threw me was the second line: "and then im not even talking about holding people's hand every hour of the day." -- because that's what I do. So, I didn't know if there was an underlying message from your statement. I am a little high-strung and defensive yet from my personal life yesterday, so I apologize, and thank you for clearing it up, if anything to put my mind at ease.  Smiley

Just so everyone knows, I've messaged the dev 5x in the last 24 hours on twitter. So we'll see.

I said "tweet something more than an advertisement or log in here and say hi.", in one of them. So if we see that effort, we know he's still on board. Also told him the price.

Been with OC since the beginning but left coins on exchange...IDK why.

Downloaded wallet today, used nodes provided on OP. Wallet synced for maybe 20 mins(did not sync all the way) then went dark. Zero connections.

Anyone have suggestions or additional nodes?

Yeah, there is a bug in the 1.0.4 wallet that the devs are aware of, concerning this issue. What users did was keep shutting down the wallet and restarting it and it eventually syncs. Do a search "Orangecoin 10000" in the bar up at the top of the page and you'll find more info.

You could try re-arranging the order of the nodes in the .conf as well. Don't know if it's going to do anything, but it's another thing I try when I get stuck. My thinking is: just in case the first node in the list is active but wrong or slow or whatever. Like I said, not sure if it makes a difference or not.

What happens with OC if it will get delisted on bittrex? Is then over and out?

Sad thing that orangecoin does not show up.

I am out atm. Sold most for 200 satoshi and 100 satoshi.

Perhaps I will re-enter  when there are bigger amounts of Oc  for a lower price.

@Halofire

Thank you again for the response. Late last night i tried the shutting down and restarting the wallet and it worked. It seems the hang was blocks 10k, 10.5k & 11k and then smooth sailing from there.

I thought I would post my findings this morning....  Wink you beat me to it.

Thanks anyway though.

I remember when OC was released and anon was the new thing. I bought into OC because it seemed the dev was ahead of the pack.

I'd really like to see the dev more active and OC still has a chance as most coins that claimed anon have still yet to incorporate it and many were PnD scams anyway. Supercoin comes to mind as one of the successful implementers of anon. As a matter of fact, SuperSoin even licenses SuperSend to other coins.

@ Dev (if dev doesn't login to btctalk maybe Halo can forward the below.)
With the amount of bs PnD scam coins that have hit the market in the last 45day the older coins are getting a second look by investors. OC was poised to be an innovator upon release it has just fallen by the wayside due to lack of activity. A successful anon implementation, whether something you have coded yourself or using someone elses successful anon, would revive OrangeCoin and propel the value at least 10x...maybe 100x.

Get active both coding and with social media and bring OC back. We believed in you, dropped our hard earned BTC on OC and are still holding. You hold the key to OC's success but the window of opportunity is closing...the next move is yours.

Community: If we get delisted, we can always try to get listed again, but will take more work and we'd need to prove to bittrex we have the community to back up Orangecoin - which is the volume of .1 btc/day. Even we buy and sell to ourselves, the fees on .1 btc/day are .0005 or 50k satoshi just for a one way trade to oneself. I'm sure we can cover that. Even if we collect BTC from faucets, it will pay for the volume needed.

It just seems so strange that we were so close to having a successful coin and OCdev disappears. It's not even like the MN aren't coming because OCdev wasn't the dev working on it, and Jim's still online everyday waiting for OCdev. We have all the basics, services, a community, and a foundation to build from, ya know? Coins works fine except the 10000 block bug, which isn't detrimental - just annoying.

I even turned down a limited opportunity to sell my sig for 50 posts for EDEN-DICE for .05 btc yesterday because I'm still OC loyal. So that tells you where I'm at. The coin does have a future if we decide it should have one, but I'm not doing this alone, so community: give me feedback, ideas, questions, concerns, etc. I know frustration may be running high because of the dev, but please try to keep positive and constructive when posting.

I will remind the community of what we have:
20% PoS, ~52 million coins
Tor network connection capabilities
Testnet
Fully functioning blockchain/wallet/nodes
Basic services done: explorers, richlists, website, forum, chart data, etc
PR "team" consisting of me and a few community members who are waiting for OCdev (or direction?) before we act.

Glad everything worked out for you, and you described exactly what happens for the bug. Thanks for having the patience to push through it. Smiley

I'll post a link to this message in a DM on twitter for you. It's about all I can do at this point in time.
Would you be so kind as to provide a link to the license thing for supercoin? I'm curious on how much it would cost and details. I'll check around, but in case I don't find it. I checked the OP, but it's so long I could have easily missed it.

Funny, this is the second time I've been informed of Supercoin. First time, I found out most or all coins can connect to the tor network, including BTC and OC.
Here's the link they provided at supercoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=618552.msg7614378#msg7614378
