Right at this moment I'd say this is a super solid play: should go post it in their thread with the caption *cough* just sayin i wouldn't do it because i don't have the constitution for trolling but it would be funny. They don't need super Masternodes anymore!

Can wallets be created that disallow "View Key"-generation?
a) So authorities can't force someone to generate one. (In sense of plausible deniability.) b) In case of multiple peoople shared wallets someone doesnt leak a view key to authorities/competition.

Not currently. The view key is just half of your private key. You still need it to identify your transactions even if you don't share it. There might be a simple modification that allows it though, for example, if the view key were just the spend key + 1, then you couldn't leak the view key without also leaking the spend key. Obviously this is a half-baked idea, I have no idea if it is viable without looking more closely at the math (or more likely having an actual mathematician do so). In the case of b) "sharing a wallet" is not really a good idea, since there would be no accountability at all if the coins were spent. A better solution would be some form of multisig. I don't know how view keys would work with that (good question).

I have no idea if this has been brought up before, but just as a heads up to people, if someone knows your public address(es) that you are using to mine on cryptonotepool.org.uk, (or, for that matter, any other pool that goes without a username and password) then they can plug your public address into the pool and see how much XMR that you have mined to that address, for the entire history of the pool. This could be a privacy concern if you are wanting to mine XMR completely anonymously.
Obviously, you can just set aside a particular address for mining and not publicize that address anywhere else, or, slightly more tediously, create a new public address every so often; but I just thought that I'd mention it to people.
With that being said, might there be a way to allow a miner to clear their pool payout history for a particular public address, *if* they could demonstrate that they own the private key to the address in question? Is there a way to do this with Monero, to, say, have them provably send a small donation from the address that they own to an address owned by the pool, which would then wipe the payout history for that address?

Same with most of the other pools. Good advice about keeping that address private.
I can't think of an easy way to do this currently, but proof of ownership of a particular public address does seem like something we might want to have.

MoneroX GUI screenshots:
This GUI is from last century? Windows 3.1 MoneroX is entirely written by a 17 year old. What were you doing when you were 17? Oh, my bad - let me rephrase: what will you have done by the time you turn 17? And if that isn't to your liking, then maybe the Monero Core GUI is more up your alley. You can even compile the code and play around with the GUI (incomplete and not wired up, but fun to play with) - https://github.com/monero-project/monero-coreHere are some screen shots from this century: ... Best of all, the GUI is native (Qt) and NOT a cheap hack using HTML. i tested it on ubuntu 15.04. compiling is ok if you use qt5 sudo apt-get install git git clone https://github.com/monero-project/monero-core.git cd monero-core/ sudo apt-get install qtbase5-dev qt5-default qtdeclarative5-dev qml-module-qtquick-controls qml-module-qtquick-xmllistmodel qmake make ./monero-core and you can make your opinion. (mine is done, gui is not for now but it will be great , congrats devs)

Regarding Payment ID's (which I personally don't have an issue with), could a feature be added to Monero so that the owner of an address can register that address so that the Monero client will not accept transactions onto the blockchain to those addresses, if they don't include a Payment ID?

No, how will a node know to reject a transaction with no payment ID based on the destination when the destination is seemingly random? The solution to this problem are the serialised stealth addresses we're busy developing.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

In order to address the claims of Alit / primer- / Poloniex-trollbox-BCX that Monero's anonymity has been broken by ChainRadar and Monero requires a hard fork I whipped up a little snippet you can use to test transactions and see if they have been correctly unmasked. Code: https://github.com/fluffypony/chainradar-checkerPremiseChainRadar has suddenly started displaying a "From Transaction" value for transactions with a ring signature. By making a series of test transactions and then putting simplewallet into RPC mode, those "From Transaction" values can be scraped from ChainRadar and then checked against the transaction IDs of your spent outputs. If it is correct then the transaction will appear in your spent outputs, although there is something of a chance of a false positive. For large test samples in large wallets I would expect to see anything up to 5% false positives. ResultsI tested 19 transactions, some mixin 4 and some mixin 20 (excluding my own signature, so mixin 5 and 21 according to ChainRadar). For these transactions none of them were completely compromised by ChainRadar, and ChainRadar got 0 out of 157 guesses correct, not even an accidentally correct guess or a false positive. Absolutely zero. Output Scanning transaction 377be6161fbbf7c77f89787a7c60f1b318f06bda22447f4b8caa46ee233b79e7... ChainRadar says there are 1 inputs with a mixin of 5. Total transactions checked: 19 Total transactions completely guessed by ChainRadar: 0 ConclusionChainRadar is either "accidentally" showing From Transactions, or it is trying to appear to have compromised Monero. Coupled with the sudden appearance of a troll claiming 20/20 transactions unmasked it is clear that something dodgy is going on. Avoid ChainRadar, and always check the data for yourself before buying in to what the trolls say. As one of ChainRadar's authors , I think I need to give an extensive comment about what actually happened. I should have done it earlier, but I had miscommunication with the rest of the team. The guy who's monitoring the support, did not do his job well. If you've checked out ChainRadar recently, this bug has been already fixed about 24 hours ago. I also apologize for responding 4 days late to your initial claims. The project is not our full time job, so sometimes we're slow, but we're doing our best to ensure that ChainRadar is both user-friendly and informative. First of all, this behavior of "from transaction" field has been exactly the same from day one and for absolutely all listed currencies. So this affects not only Monero. Secondly, ChainRadar is not possible to determine the exact inputs for any given transaction. In case of CryptoNote it is absolutely, undoubtedly, mathematically impossible. If there is mixing of 5, then any of the parental transaction has absolutely the same chance of being a real one (20%). If someone tells you that he can determine the exact sender, then he should be lying, as there is no better way than to guess randomly. Luckily, the math is neutral to everyone. So coming back to ChainRadar, I've made a bug while working with transaction inputs. In case there is a set of them (mixin > 1; several signers in the ringsig), ChainRadar just chooses the first one in the set and displays it in "from transaction" field. For mixin = 1 this is exactly correct, as there's no mixing in this case. However, for cases of mixin > 1, the information was absolutely irrelevant. I repeat, there is no way anyony can identify the exact sender in ringsig, this is a minor bug. As of now, the bug is fixed, no information is shown for transactions with any mixing level more than 1. Once again, I deeply apologize for this misunderstanding and I hope your faith in ChainRadar should not fail due to the dev bug. I've put a lot of effort into the service that would provide a comprehensive overview for the most significant CryptoNotes, and I hope that it is still helpful. I really hope for your understanding. Updated my post to avoid misunderstanding.

... Honestly, don't get me wrong, but I am very surprised that you as a core dev do not educate your users on how Monero works, but actually reinforce silly FUD. Luckily, the math is neutral to everyone. ...

I have always learned to beware of what comes after a opening like: "Honestly, don't get me wrong". And I don't know what you are getting at here but the post you quote is him doing EXACTLY what you say he is not doing. As well as the recent interview, missives, website, and general forum presense. It is the constant onslaught of trolls which distract some of the core team from better things because suddenly a bunch of sheep being led by wolves are chanting "Monero is broken" because in PART of a bug on YOUR site. So, Honestly, Don't Get Me Wrong, but I don't really see you having a place to criticize people in the community for being steadfast in doing things you claim they are not. I really hope for your understanding.
For me it will take a little more. I do NOT understand yet what your real position is here. But I am watching.

The math is neutral if you only look at that very transaction, you're right. However in the bigger picture (by looking at the entire blockchain), you might determine that all other inputs have been spent with no mixin, therefore revealing the last input that must be the correct one. There is some quite fancy way to infer information probabilistically too, all developed in the latest Monero Research Lab article: https://lab.getmonero.org/pubs/MRL-0004.pdfSo nobody was reinforcing FUD, it was simply thought that apparently chainradar was trying to infer (heuristically) the correct input. Though on the basic math level, again you're right, there's no way to tell, and that was never questionned of course.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

Not intend to offend you, but YOUR "bug" + Trolls = escalated. Fluffypony's time to prove the trolls wrong = extinguished. What I don't know for sure is if you are on the side of the extinguishers or the escalators. Seriously. Perhaps folks like Ricardo will be more patient... but I have signed no contract to be. Keep digging.

Keep digging. My bad, sorry. I edited the post so that it's not offensive. I'm not in the situation, not following the forum recently, so from my perspective there was no need to test anything with ChainRadar, as the answer is pretty clear: it is impossible. Secondly, I repeat that it is the issue from since the start of the project, and for all currencies, not just Monero.
