crossposting because it was posted in a moderated thread and 99% certain it will be deleted CryptoNote assets would be amazing!! If only there wasn't the bad 'smell' around the ~80% premine.
That premine could be a blessing in disguise if it were used to subsidize people who issue and maintain Assets like Bitshares': Assets tied to others. The 82% premine is indeed a blessing in disguise - they own so many of the outputs in the txoset that they can trivially deanonymise everyone's transactions. Let me say that again: as 82% of Bytecoin's outputs are controlled by persons unknown to the cryptocurrency community, those unknown entities (or entity) can deanonymise every transaction you make with Bytecoin. There is no way around this, there is nothing they can do to reduce the attack surface. Even if 1000 sock puppets come forward and claim to own a portion of those outputs it is still impossible for anyone to independently verify. Technical details of why such massive output ownership is a death knoll can be found in MRL-0001: A Note on Chain Reactions in Traceability in CryptoNote 2.0You crazy Monero developers / supporters with your facts and logic and science. Good call on the xpost!!

I found a more appropriate thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=740112.msg11034887#msg11034887 since the vulnerability is directly related to the premine / ninjamine of Bytecoin.

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

Hello, I consider to buy some Monero for the first time and took a look for a good wallet. I am wondering how secure MyMonero.com is? Is it like an exchange where all coin could be stolen without having the private key?
No, it's more like blockchain.info, the private key is only on the client side and never ever known to the website. In addition: MyMonero only has your view key, not your spend key, so no way to touch your funds without your involvement:)
PS: MyMonero is run by core developer Fluffypony Also, not possible right now, but I believe that at some point you will be able to use your mnemonic seed (or your keys, not sure which) from MyMonero on simplewallet. So in the case that MyMonero ceased to exist, you could still have access to your funds. meanwhile you can also create your seed with simplewallet (25 words with --generate-new-wallet) and use it on mymonero and/or simplewallet just be aware of : your login key will be twice as long (25 words vs 13), transactions previous your first login are not visible (will cost you 10 xmr if you want to import them but if it's a new wallet, you don't need to do it), working with english seed but not sure for other languages

There's no need spreading fud in the roadmap thread.
Calling out lying scammers for who and what they are not "fud", it is the duty of any person of integrity. Something you would know nothing about. use an unlock_time=9999999999 (seconds - 317 years or so) - for example, or even higher.
That's not quite burn, but close. The 317 year time-capsule has a value, and is transferrable. It destroys XMR for most functional purposes, yes, but it creates a new security, the XMR time-capsule. The effect on the float would be, probably measurably, different from the effect of a classic burn.

If you see fraud and don't shout fraud, you are a fraud.
Some caution is advisable in application. "If you see mind-controlled zombies who have replaced your coworkers..." you're probably just a paranoid schizophrenic.

The effect on the float would be, probably measurably, different from the effect of a classic burn. The highest I believe is around 1000 years; 500m blocks. As an unsigned 64 bit number the highest would be 2 64-1 seconds. Something in the neighborhood of 600 billion years. And it isn't so readily transferable because that would require private keys to be transferred and the buyer can't be sure of getting the only copy. Anyway, I think you can just set the output key to be something chosen as obviously not real, like all 7s. Possibly you can set it to something that is positively invalid, too, but I'm not sure.

Some caution is advisable in application. "If you see mind-controlled zombies who have replaced your coworkers..." you're probably just a paranoid schizophrenic. More harm would likely be prevented by not being so cautious. If you are actually a paranoid schizophrenic, you will likely be disregarded, but that's a choice for the listener to make. Silence deprives the listener of that choice.

No dice on tewinget's branch. I do see a lmdb out of space error in addition to the uncaught exception but there is well over 11gb of free space, not factoring in the 3.4gb blockchain.bin that monero already takes up.
Ok I'm going to need more info - 1. What Windows version, and 32-bit or 64-bit? 2. What is the LMDB error, is it something like "MDB_MAP_FULL Environment mapsize limit reached" ? 1. 64-bit 2. This is all I have for the log, nothing as it relates to the limit you described: 2015-Apr-09 18:59:09.839062 Initializing cryptonote protocol... 2015-Apr-09 18:59:09.840062 Cryptonote protocol initialized OK 2015-Apr-09 18:59:09.840062 Initializing p2p server... 2015-Apr-09 18:59:26.854035 Binding on 0.0.0.0:18080 2015-Apr-09 18:59:26.854035 Net service bound to 0.0.0.0:18080 2015-Apr-09 18:59:26.855035 Attempting to add IGD port mapping. 2015-Apr-09 18:59:27.901095 Added IGD port mapping. 2015-Apr-09 18:59:27.901095 P2p server initialized OK 2015-Apr-09 18:59:27.901095 Initializing core rpc server... 2015-Apr-09 18:59:27.901095 Binding on 127.0.0.1:18081 2015-Apr-09 18:59:27.902095 Core rpc server initialized OK on port: 18081 2015-Apr-09 18:59:27.902095 Initializing core... 2015-Apr-09 18:59:27.903095 Loading blockchain from folder 0x401c9c8 ... 2015-Apr-09 18:59:27.904095 Failed to open lmdb environment: There is not enough space on the disk. 2015-Apr-09 18:59:27.904095 Error opening database: Failed to open lmdb environment: There is not enough space on the disk. 2015-Apr-09 18:59:27.905095 ERROR C:/msys64/home/user/bitmonero-blockchain/src/daemon/daemon.cpp:123 Uncaught exception!
