Another day another 3 PRs merged Smiley

According to #monero-dev another huge one is coming up *drum rolls*

P.S.: It seems like Wladimir van der Laan (bitcoin core dev) is also (occasionally) running a Monero node -> https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/issues/389

P.P.S: He already made a pull request once -> https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/pull/329

https://twitter.com/XMRpromotions/status/636800357172051968

I love seeing contributions from so many talented people

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

DO NOT DEPOSIT XMR TO CRYPTSY !!

It's NOT POSSIBLE to withdraw coins once you deposit!!! Their system is broken or so they say. Very suspicious!
I opened a ticket almost 4 days ago, still waiting !!

DAY 7 , STILL UNABLE TO WITHDRAW!

FUCKING CRYPTSY SCAMMERS!!!!

Day 9, gave up waiting.. Sold XMR below market price, btc withdrawn, cryptsy account closed.

This bothers me a lot because I was vocal about being happy they added #xmr

The more exchanges we have the better but based on their history of problems with other coins (that work fine on other exchanges) I do wonder about their technical expertise.

Feel free to retweet to see if it will expedite a response:

always timely, always right on time!

I just finished the content edits for another missive, so its ready for transcription if anyone wants the link.

i know, i know, at this point its like crying wolf, but really, I think missives will be released soon. The one that I just edited is sort of first in a series, so it makes sense for this one to be released first... and this series of missives isn't dependent on core development, so there won't be any of the other types of delays, which have been that we talk about how something is going to be released or finished, and then it turns out there's 3 months (or more!) worth of edge cases to fix or purple monkey dishwasher.

and I'm open for suggestions regarding hosting the file. I've heard rumor that mega's not the place to drop files anymore, so i came across this:

http://wikisend.com/

http://drop.io/

always wonder how these sites do it for free. Maybe they're using the slack model, where you become dependent on the data you've hosted with them and BAM they go surprise, you gotta pay for access now!!

The missive is around 30 minutes, currently we got G2M, MoneroMooo and me willing to transcribe. Anyone else that would like to volunteer?

I would be willing to help out with transcribing.

Send me a PM, I'll guide you through the details. Currently, we have 5 members (including you) willing to translate. Let's set the deadline on tomorrow night (00:00 UTC), after it passes we divide the total minutes with the number of volunteers.

Depends how big a missive is, but especially if you want to share only the last one, a solution can be any (?) cloud storage.
At least Dropbox and Tresorit have functionality to share links to files (or folders).

Do you have a ticket # or your username so I can look it up? I was only aware of 1 failed withdrawal which we processed last night

EDIT:

We did find one withdrawal that failed to process. We apologize it took so long to get it resent. We repaired the bug that caused it a few days ago but yours was not resent for some reason.

Thank you for your fast reply to my tweet Mullick. I think we are all happy to hear the bug has been resolved. The community appreciates being able to trade on multiple exchanges. Decentralization and liquidity is important.

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Is there a trusted / open source Monero vanity address generator out there?

No. Well there's a Javascript one on Mooo's/saddam's site. It's super slow though.

There's one written in Go as well:
https://github.com/ehmry/monero-vanity

Last commit was 1+ year ago, but I don't think it would break with updates. I imagine Go would be at least a little speedier than JS, but not really sure.

Interesting, checking it out.

That's my thinking. I really hope xt fails. They tried to get consensus and they failed, due to resistance from some really smart people (adam back ie). Now they are trying to coupe de ta? They are beginning to appear fanatical.

Sorry guys, I have my tinfoil hat firmly on for Bitcoin XT and that's why I don't comment on it much:

Create what you fear the most.

What could be more damaging to Bitcoin than a hostile fork that goes against the wishes of the community?

Why not create it early, and have it fail spectacularly?  This sets a very powerful precedent: hostile alt-forks that go against the will of the major players are doomed to fail.

I think its entirely reasonable to put on that hat. After all satoshi left because gavin began rubbing elbows with an alphabet and gavin is leading the charge on this. If gavin is well intentioned, than its unfortunate that he does not understand that there is something so much bigger at stake here than the block size. I find it hard to belive that he cant see that so that's another reason why im inclined to entertain if not outright support your metallic hat.

The alphabet will come in time. They always do.

They will come for Monero as well, so we should expect that.  Those of us who are public personalities (especially Americans) involved with Monero better start taking a hard look at our lives now and considering that we may one day be (or are already) objects of interest for the powers that be.

I'm ok with this.... well, not ok with this.  I understand this is a necessary evil and will conduct my personal life accordingly.  This way when I say I am merely a passionate hobbyist of bleeding-edge crypto who seeks to profit off it, it will be a true statement.
