othe's guide to investing in Monero: 1) Buy 10k XMR 2) Place two bets for 5k each at monerodice 3) Donate the proceeds from one win to development and "reinvest" the winnings from other bet into dice 4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you somehow own more coins than actually exist 5) 6) Profit! ROFLMFAO! Good one!

What do you think about https://forum.bitcoin.com? They opened Altcoins subforum and there are Ripple, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin subforums for discussion. I think if we want Roger Ver will open Monero subforum too. I like Monero discussion here but another option would be good too. They will probably get different userbase. We should tell about Monero to newbies. I don't see anything wrong with more exposure to Monero. Agree, if someone already has an account there, please send him a PM.

Crosspost worthy from the official forum: If anything is funky/not working as expected with those pages, please let me know. You can also save the webpage and use it offline (or at least locally in case the online version got compromised).

does "total transactions" include the block reward? Or actual transactions?

Boolberry vs Monero Chess Challenge and CryptoNote technical discussion https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1190988.0Lets make color assignment fair. The first person to reply to this thread and state which team they are on (Monero or Boolberry) earns their team the white pieces.

is there allready a date for the fork? will it happen together with the 0.9 release?
can somone give any news on how it wil play out in detail? will there be a "smooth" hardfork like you planned where old blocks wont get rejected immediately? i did not have time to follow unfortunately.
thank you

The code will be included in the 0.9 release. The details of the exact process/schedule for activating the fork are still being worked out but it will be some sort of process with advance notice and looking for a minimum fraction of hash rate on the network being upgraded.

Does this also deal with the second hard fork in MRL-0004 to require a minimum mixin of 4 after 2 years?

Does this also deal with the second hard fork in MRL-0004 to require a minimum mixin of 4 after 2 years? It doesn't right now. The plan is to feature freeze the forks six months in advance (I think there is a thread on this at the getmonero forum). There are certainly other important features that will need to be forked in like multisig and others, so there will be more forks (unless development stops of course, but let's face it, if that happens the coin is in pretty big trouble).

Yes I am aware of the thread. https://forum.getmonero.org/4/academic-and-technical/303/a-formal-approach-towards-better-hard-fork-management; however this does not mean that the code for the mandatory mixin of 4 after the appropiate delay could not also be included in this fork.

True, but from a practical perspective the way the code works each time there is a fork the block version number gets incremented. Currently there is code "if version > 1, enable the minimum mixin 2 rules". We don't even know how many forks there will be in two years, so we wouldn't know what version to use nor when that fork will happen. We could pick some arbitrary numbers like jump to version 10 as of some future block height (and possibly change them in a future update), but that is somewhat messy. I'm not saying it couldn't be included, nor do I really have a position on it, just explaining how things are being done currently.

The code is checking for hardfork version rather than block height a second time, so it is simpler and less prone to error to do it this way.
