Fiat price of XMR has dropped a lot lately, does any1 know what happened? Was it the FUD or is just everyone moving into BTC and ETH?

You should take a look on the whole Qubic shitshow and to the risk of 51% attack they are trying to create, if you want to know the reason of the current FUD wave.

I can't think of any good reason to move anything into eth Grin. Shitest shitcoin example number 1

Bitcoin is same Ebay in the 95-2000, good company, quoted. But, i think, that Monero will be same Amazon after the 2005. Bitcoin has sold out to its masters. Now all exchanges require KYC and tax code. And so all holders become traceable. Privacy is completely out of the question.

There is no doubt that the attack happens, there are many articles about it and the attacking pool hash rate has been published, for example it was visible at https://miningpoolstats.stream/monero (but no longer)

After the attacking pool operator stopped publishing stats via API, the stats can still be visible at:
https://explorer.jetskipool.ai/xmr-tracker and https://qpools.qubicdisciple.info
According to their own stats, I have seen that they have been able to exceed 51% and on their blog https://qubic.org/blog-grid they say:
"On Monday, August 11, 2025, history was made as the Qubic protocol successfully completed its attempt to dominate the Monero network.
After a month-long, high-stakes technical confrontation, Qubic reached 51% of Monero's hashrate dominance, successfully reorganizing the blockchain."

"The malicious entity would cause the blocks of other pools to become orphaned. This evidence would appear in the visualization below.
A malicious entity with 50 percent or more of total network hashpower could attempt deep chain re-organizations by mining an alternative chain. Alternative chain are like orphaned blocks, but are more than one block in length. Alternative chains should appear in the visualization below."

Though I am not good at reading that diagram in order to tell at which point there is a problem and how significant it is.

It seems unknown at this point, but analysis of consensus data shows that there have been many large reorganizations lately. You can watch it here https://moneroconsensus.info/. This is not a good sign, and I see that some services have increased the required number of confirmations already. I don't know what is the plan to deal with this.

You've posted moments before me, but I'll add that it is pretty significant even if they don't have the full 51%. They are a malicious entity, nobody in their right mind would attack Monero if they cared about any ideals behind crypto.

Pretty interesting activity indeed. Hey thanks for sharing those links. Obviously more hashpower needs to be thrown at the network by the good actors.

LOL. "Come from beyond" Grin.)

Thankfully, I had forgotten him. Unfortunately, I've had to remember him. He's always been a douchebag.

How can someone have been exposed to the greater Bitcoin community for as long as he has been, and certainly have collected up some wealth along the way because of it, be such an insufferable bastard?  Instead of being humbled by the circumstances, he's always tried to manipulate them, and he's always lied. You can go back and find posts. He's always stirred up trouble. That's always been his modus.

I don't think the claims that he is making are legitimate, but I spun up a couple lowly 5950 miners to help anyway...

Have the Monero devs considered significantly increasing the block-reward maturity time, like to 12-24 months? This would probably be an easy softfork change, and AFAICT it'd disrupt the feedback mechanism driving the current attack. It'd also be in-line with Monero's goal of discouraging large-scale mining operations: people seeing mining as an investment worry about cashflow and financing, and would hate to have their block rewards locked up for 12-24 months, but people mining casually with spare hardware wouldn't care quite as much.

I have not seen this idea floated.  But it has merit to consider in my opinion.

1-2 years might be a bit much...

And I think there are (game theory?) Considerations around incentives to be worked through....

Hmm.

I wonder why XMR was picked as a target, as if it didn't suffer enough already. It has a real use, unlike the sh1tcoins that would deserve it, such as DOGE.

The hash rate of XMR is puny compared to DOGE. A mere drop in the bucket. That's why.

You'd need to look back at the history of the shitcoiner who is behind this FUD to fully understand.  He has always had a thing against Monero.

He is pretty much a criminal and liar in my opinion.

Own your XMR, it is one of the rare cryptos that fit the crypto spirit.

I don't go for others just because it will make you money for 3 days. I'll continue with XMR.

Monero was not 51% attacked. This article debunks CoinDesk’s report, revealing how Qubic’s hashrate claims were faked to mislead the crypto community.

Dear Coindesk,

We are writing you to express serious concerns about the article “Monero’s 51% Attack Problem: Inside Qubic’s Controversial Network Takeover,” published on August 12, 2025.

While the article brings an important topic to light, it appears to have uncritically published claims from Qubic, leading to the misleading conclusion that a successful 51% attack on the Monero network is underway.

This article, in its current form, is of low journalistic quality as it presents unverified claims as fact. By providing a platform for Qubic’s unproven assertions, it risks damaging the reputation of a legitimate project like Monero and causes significant concern within the broader cryptocurrency community. The alleged “attack” by Qubic is not a real 51% attack but rather a marketing stunt based on falsified numbers.

We have evidence to suggest that Qubic’s claims are misleading and their hashrate numbers are not independently verifiable. This action damages legitimate miners and network participants for the personal gain of a single entity. It is unacceptable for a reputable publication like CoinDesk to provide a stage for such bad economic actors.

Hmm.
It might be a considerable amount of time but it would effectively ensure that only real community members and individual miners mine the coin. I would seriously consider such a proposal. Something must be done, we need to stop the possibility of an attack and limit the amount of FUD that can come with it.

Hello. I use the monerojo wallet on an Android phone. Everything worked fine. Today, the coins came to the subaddress, I periodically checked the number of confirmations, and then the wallet stopped opening. It says: unable to connect to the node. The newly created wallet works fine. I tried to view the keys, but I couldn’t, a message like “Invalid wallet” appeared. I have a backup copy of the wallet file, it contains the keys wallet.keys (seed phrase is missing). The password is also correct. I am trying to restore the wallet from the file, but the password does not work. I tried to do this on the computer, but the password does not work either, although literally before this case I entered the same password and everything worked. I think this is some kind of wallet error, maybe some default password? I don’t understand how to restore the wallet.
