The coin is bound by the code that makes up its codebase.  As I will not be auditing all of the code there is going to be some trust in the developers involved here.  David Latapie's state socialist views are a stain on this project, and he cannot be trusted around the codebase of an anonymous coin.  If he is not involved in actual coding then he would be even easier to replace.  I believe I have provided enough evidence that I am not a "troll", but it doesn't really matter.  I haven't and won't mention any other coins in this thread (and haven't posted in any others).

In the end you owe me no satisfaction.  I have and can drop the price....but only a little bit and the coin will recover or keep falling based on nothing related to me.  I still hold significant amounts and will buy no more.....so I have no interest in trolling or creating that dread FUD.  I am looking for a good exit, and will make sure I do so while turning a nice BTC profit.

If I remember correctly, David Latapie is not a developer anyhow, so I don't really know what your concern is.

More than anything, it looks like you're just looking for yet another angle to attack monero and spread FUD. Don't be surprised that your objections are met with a little hostility, because frankly we're all getting a bit tired of people coming up with stupid excuses as to why this remarkably fair coin is somehow untrustworthy.

The term "developer" is a bit ambiguous which is why we usually prefer core team, but often the term developer or dev is used to describe whoever it is that owns or manages a coin project. David is part of the core team but he is not a developer in the sense of software developer or programmer that is true. He is more involved with business development, branding and strategy, writing, managing some of the volunteers, plus other non-programmming tasks as they come along.

I agree the FUD and general negativity isn't really helpful, at least once you have made your point. If you don't like the coin, just move on, preferably quietly. There are hundreds of others to choose from.

It's more likely VB just skimmed DGA's post and didn't realize that it was Bytecoin that came out with the crippled miner. The soap opera involving Bytecoin, CryptoNote, Bitmonero, Monero, Quazarcoin, Boolberry, etc. . . is so tangled. And on top of that, there is the FUD spread by the Bytecoin scammers and sockpuppets.  It's not surprising that outsiders have a hard time appreciating why Monero deserves to be taken seriously.

I would be willing to chip in for an article about the history of Monero - just the facts. I would be willing to chip in recurrently if the article were to be maintained up-to-date.

dga's blog post is a great factual article about the history of Monero.  If some geeky kid with a massive conflict of interest accidentally misinterprets/intentionally misrepresents it, that's not our problem.

And pa, How Dare YouTM mention other coins in our narrow-minded Monero-only thread?  Don't you know how much butthurt will flow through the partisans if you even allude to the existence of Monero's Cryptonote siblings?

You must say 100 Hail Tacos for writing the forbidden letters ('bee bee are') in this sanctum sanctorum of the One True CN implementation.  Even speaking of [bee tee see] is completely off-topic, don'tcha know?   Grin

I think I am noticing this trend of late too. Just don't even mention BBR Wink The goal is to first convert people who then will do the proselytizing job for them.

The other day someone called CryptoNote whitepaper as Monero Whitepaper.  Roll Eyes

Yes, it's a trend to not specifically mention XCP, SJCX, BTM, QBK, DRK, QBK, STR, XCN, VRC, QTL, XC, VIA, REDD, DOGE, C2, AEON and even BBR in every single post in the XMR thread .. it's just a grand conspiracy to ignore everything but Monero in the Monero thread!

Here, we ignore particle physics, pornography, electronics, cars, acoustics, food recipes, games to play, carpentry, the weather and .. well .. pretty much everything besides Monero so that all the fans of every single one of those topics can get it in their head that theres just a massive conspiracy .. and one day come here to ask repeatedly and incessantly why nobody is talking about all those things.

We are the tinfoil hat factory!

I wouldn't worry about DTM, they belong to a set of users that have picked up dirt cheap mega Boolberry stacks (because they didn't want to pay market rates for Monero) and now are hoping for riches. DTM is never going to stop talking about his Boolberry.

You see this doesn't work. The only real threat to XMR monopoly is BBR, not the other angry list that you came up with. So I wasn't impressed by the attempted melodrama. My statement was valid in the context of the question.

Heh, it's interesting .. we now have another evolution of the trolling tactics. It's been nice to watch it evolve:

1: Barely readable community padding supporting another coin, conversations between a couple of sock puppets that ignore most everything else.
2: Slightly mare targeted community padding, putting down this coin and putting up another one .. posts still barely readable.
3: Slightly offensive community padding, putting down this coin and putting up another one .. posts starting to be readable.
4: Highly offensive targeted statements, well beyond typical subliminal community padding, including comments that would be downright illegal to make in public.
5: Multiple threads actively denouncing the state of this coin, with mostly grammatically correct english and structured in a way that involved a big time sink.
6: Fully-involved trolls, dedicated to trolling this community using multiple accounts. Great typing skills for the most part, and always seem to be trying to insinuate that people are horribly wrong about everything .. especially in their support of Monero. It's to the point now where those that are paid directly, and those that are simply holding another coin and are paid by just holding it are indistinguishable.
7: ..? (Possibly entire IPO's about some magic super internet coin highway and for made up reasons Monero's not invited)

I'm expecting to now see an evolution of 'Monero shilling tactics' to whatever bored troll decides they want to take the casual completely-opposite mirrored-post tactic? At least that'll be Monero related  Roll Eyes

The best way to approach this is to take on the mindset of knowing that that none of these people own any coins, and support nothing related to cryptocurrencies. They're about the same level of telemarketers .. sitting at a desk going from call to call waiting for that check at the end of the week .. saying whatever they've been trained to say. Typically, people just hang up on telemarketers. We should hang up on the telemarketers.

God this is all incredibly boring. Scrollling through pages of pointless political discussion and he-said she-said squabbling, hoping to find some news about Monero but never finding it.

Give it a rest please kids.

Hello all,

I'm interested in the creation of a Price Alert app for iPhone/ mobile devices.

The app will primarily service the Cryptonote community, with the aim of making it easier to monitor price movements of these coins without having to be glued to the computer 24/7!

If you're interested in joining the conversation the thread is here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=766212.0

I'm by no means technical, so would value any input the community can give to this topic.

Thanks a million!

Why the fuss!? The only threat to Monero, so far as I can see, is DRK. No other CN coin is going to fly due to lack of integrity or weak community support.
