I'm not sure if you guys noticed but you can withdraw XMR from Poloniex directly to your bank card, check the announcement at the Poloniex homepage. You have to buy XUSD and withdraw it through Coinomat.com

The fees are hideous, but it's a cool service and idea.

The fees are not unreasonable, considering that they will pay up to 3.5% to the card.  That's just the sort of vig that crypto is so close to decimating.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day.  Give a man a Poisson distribution and he eats at random times independent of one another, at a constant known rate.

we should probably be buying DRK as a hedge as well.

It might be interesting to link DRK and MRO via side-chains.

I was doing something else to remind someone that DRK isn't and hasn't been full of Monero trolls, and then this ^^

Just a thought......

DRK has around 1,000 decentralized Master Nodes - servers. Those Master Node operators get paid to have a robust DDoS set-up and prove they are who they say they are and not thousands of men in the middle by putting aside 1,000 DRK (most use cold storage to reduce incentives to attack Master Node servers).

Those servers could be used to support the growing Monero block chain too without you having to figure out a similar mechanism?

Why do that? Your fees are too high? I can just exchange it and send BTC to my wallet and go buy something - less fees. I can even exchange my BTC to USD or EUR or whatever - less fees

Any update on the status with cryptsy? If I recall correct, somewhere end of july a member stated that they were in the progress of adding it.

Privacy matters, use Monero - A true untraceable cryptocurrency

Anybody know what's up with extremehash.com? Website is still up, but last block was 6 hours ago, miner won't connect, and their IRC channel isn't showing up right now. My mining proceeds are just above the 0.2 threshold on their site, but it hasn't paid out -- usually it's quick. I just contacted strangewildthing. Waiting on a response.

Every pool should have some channel for support (thread, IRC, email, etc.). Suggest contacting the pool.

For sure. Last time he posted here was back in July.  Like I said, their IRC channel is down. They also have a chat page on their site that looks blank right now. Hmm, I can at least see their channel on their site in IE. I'll see if anyone is alive there.

I don't think I've seen wildstrangething on IRC in like 3 or 4 weeks now. I used to use his pool, but seemed like it was devolving, and apparently still is. He told me he was a grad student in physics/engineering at very high ranking school, maybe he just doesn't have time to mess with it anymore.

Now I mine at the pool that hosts this comparison between all major and major minor pools Smiley http://minexmr.com/pools.html

Their IRC applet on their site still works. I just chatted with him. They are apparently under a DDoS attack right now. He can provide a direct IP address to access it if you give him your address to verify.

XMR volume was solidly #3 today behind BTC and LTC. Only DOGE beats it out for weekly volume.

smooth's Monero quick-start bundle for new installs (Windows 64 bit, Mac, Linux 64-bit)

Easy one-step download for new installs via BitTorrent containing the current version of the application (0.8.8.3) and the blockchain as of 2014-09-07!

For updates download the application from the original post. To update you don't normally need a new blockchain.

This is an unofficial bundle and unofficial service. Blame only me.

If you are a BitTorrent user, please try these and let me know via PM whether they work. I've gotten conflicting reports about whether my permanent seeds are functioning properly.

Please include information about your BitTorrent client, NAT status (if you know), etc.

I am new to Monero and hope the community here can help me with a important question. How can I make a Monero transfer? With bitcoin you just put the bc address and then send it but with Monero it is more complicated. This is what is says on the site where I am trying to make the transaction

"To fund your account using moneros, you need to send an amount via wallet using following string:
transfer 0 45VChYME906HhzHzkcZXdJWXazQNRqy8ZKM3zSTiovzbAbhM9873zQsY3kFjtCNfX9x2Wy9NRRKcxv9 M249hUV4bQGaD92c
{amount} 956e38e39040e2c9f6c32025158b1b9a109488edcfceb5e221534a4b3fbf961
copy command or create a new payment Id

You must use both payment id and wallet address!"

I am trying to fund my account and I am having a hard time finding my payment id and wallet address.

Thank you for any help

The syntax is "transfer {mix in} {wallet address/account} {amount} {optional, payment ID}". So 45VC... is the address and 956e... is the payment ID.

Please use a mix in of at least 4 to take advantage of ring signatures. For the moment the transaction fee is constant, no matter the size of the transaction, and a larger mix in hides you among more others. So mix in = 0 means you are the only one signing the transaction, so it is just as transparent as Bitcoin who sent the money. Mix in = 4 should be sufficient for all common transactions.

I used magnet url on Windows 7 32-bit,
Vuse BitTorrent client 5.4.0.0 downloaded 55% on speed about 1-4 Mbps
It works. Unfortunately i don't know NAT status. Sad
I see two sources of peers in my Vuse BitTorrent client.
100% downloaded at right now.
I checked hash:
blockchain.bin  &  monero.win.x64.latest.zip
sha-1: 8c23da70c1291a61444090d8d5127dd6c12efa81
sha-1:   7b89c14891cab57aa292d3826227c99bd2c8e203
It's the same like on OP.
I opened TCP-port & UDP-port  in my router. I pointed this 2 ports in Vuse. It's works. I didn't switch on UpNP.

Do transfers with higher mixin values take longer to confirm?

^ Nope. The transaction confirmation time is the same for any level of mixin'.

Is there anyway to copy and paste an address into the cmd window? Typing out one of these addresses will guarantee errors.

There is no context menu in 0.8.8.3. CTRL-V does not work either.

EDIT: Ahhh I found it. Click on icon in upper left corner of pane. edit -> paste

You may get an unwanted space in your address and I think this may be due to it wrapping onto 2 lines.  It's not always easy to see.  It happened to me while setting up my miner so it didn't work at first.
