Well, I'm not going anywhere... I still believe in the VTC / MON community.  Smiley I'm not sure that many understand (other than us) how fast the block rewards are going down for this coin though and that it's going to be very rare in the future. It's not a BTC clone in regards to distribution at all.

I just wish the VTC community would see the potential in this coin. It's just a matter of perception and that's why it would be great if the devs could highlight MON as something else than a testcoin for new VTC features. It's much more than that, it's "Vertcoin Limited"... at least in my eyes.  Smiley

Yes, there is a great number of supporters of Vertcoin.  This is one of the strength of Vertcoin unlike many altcoins.  MON has its place in the Vertcoin community.  Unlike the big brother VTC, MON is deflationary.  It will grow in scarcity as time goes.

umm, aren't they both deflationary, since they will both get mined out eventually? They just have different approach to cutting block rewards, vert does it in  abrupt halvenings like btc, while mon uses a constant exponential decay like monero.

I have some of Monocles mined and didn't sell when price was good and at current price there is no point in selling . But now VTC is struggling and I hope if VTC recovers then MON might rise again.

Doubt they will remove MON anytime soon. MON will be the first to be used for testing once Lyra2 is out (in November?).  Polo knows this.  We can expect a spike.  There are those who speculating on a quick gain.

People are still buying MON on Poloniex :-)

Why they are doing it?

The answer is in the MON specifications

Specifications:

Premine: Zero

Algorithm: Scrypt-N, merge-mineable on the VTC chain

Block time: 2 minutes

Retarget: Every 12 blocks using BRNDF. Starting difficulty 2.0

Block reward: 25 MON per block, then decreasing by approximately 3% every 10080 blocks (2 weeks). First 1000 blocks ramp up gradually from 1 MON to full block reward. After block 1,468,415 (approximately 5 years and 7 months) only fees will be mined.

Total circulation: 8.4 million MON

TX fees: No free transactions, 0.01 MON base TX fee
Ports: Mainnet RPC port 6888, mainnet P2P blockchain sync port 6889. Testnet RPC 16888 and p2p 16889.

IRC: Freenode #vertcoin

Distribution over 5.6 years (after which time only fees are mined):

Initial distribution:

Cool specs bro, but where I can spend MON? Looks like nobody accept it at all and even Bittrex has removed MON from their trading pairs. Other than that - MON is definitely must to buy coin!

We will see  Smiley

I like the coins and how their developers started, there was a slight delay in the project, but hopefully things will get better!

For the protocol I have only 600 MON in my wallet, but I expect after 4 years each coin at least $ 10

Don't forget
2014-07-01 16:13:56   Sell   0.00006000   143634.36884719   8.61806213

Wow who the hell was this on Poloniex with 15% of MON currently in existance??

Please someone to make Rich list of MON WALETS
