If given a choice to walk away with either Bitcoin or gold of equivalent value, what would you pick? Asians and Westerners were asked in Taipei in Chinese and English if they would take Bitcoin or gold home with them that day, and the answer might surprise you... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6GiC8dqN9AWe just shot a video outside the Taipei 101 skyscraper area here and gave people a chance to answer if they would walk away with either Bitcoin or gold- and why. If you were approached and were offered the same deal, would you walk away with Bitcoin or gold in your pocket, and why??? If I were offered bitcoin or gold of the same value, I would pick gold. The value of bitcoin is extremely volatile. I will pick bitcoin as its price will rise faster.

... The sense I am getting from this thread (and others re gold & BTC) is that gold is the better, and certainly safer, asset. Yet most of us here (this thread it seems) own both! For reasons I have discussed earlier, I think that Bitcoin and gold are "orthogonal" (prices tend to move independently) and so are both good holdings. Perhaps the better discussion would be: What percentages of one's (net) assets should be in gold, and what percentage in Bitcoin?A reasonable start to this might be my own rough holdings: nearly 10% in gold, nearly 1% in BTC. BTC is very volatile, but does have the potential to be a winning lottery ticket...

But we can expect some some ten time fold of appreciations from bitcoin for the same period of time. Better pick and hold both bitcoin and gold. This will pay you back some what reasonably.

I think Bitcoin is the Best ever, Because its value is more Fluctuating than any currency or Gold. You can easily Trade BTC, Every where, Unlike the Gold. I will always Prefer BTC, Because No thief can get my BTC easily,

Currently less priced 2. Chances of getting doubled on mining reward halving. 3. Easily hide-able and transferable. This list is so long for the new investors who wanted to conclude between gold and bitcoin. May be 70% and 30% on bitcoin and gold investment a suggested investment.
