There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Hard fork, soft fork, user activated fork, miners, hashrate...
If only there was a coin where users themselves generate the hashrate instead of outsourcing this job. Oh wait Wink

 Huh

Ok, I am getting interested in NXT as I have heard of it for a while now but don't hold any. One question is how safe is the
online web wallet? I noticed that if I create a NXT account I can log in easily. I read somewhere on the NXT page that if someone has your NXT address
they can log into your account and view all your activity.  So if somebody types my NXT address into the login screen, they can view my activities and account info?

I assume they cannot transfer my funds without the passphrase? correct? I am used to the Waves platform where another user cannot see your activities without having the
password to your account.  I will do more homework and perhaps buy some NXT in the next few weeks.

 Huh

I had my account hacked due to a weak password I was told. It has be re-secured and a stronger password implemented. Hacker was posting malware links using my account. Always use a very strong password.

Blockchain is transparent so everyone can see your activity on the blockchain.
Logging with the account is just made for convenience when you want to track your account but not send transactions. There is no threat in someone logging with your account id as they can see all your transactions on the blockchain anyhow. Keep your passphrase secure and don't lose it, it's the key to your treasures.

It says "no valid keystore". You probably accidentally deleted the key used for the SSL API.
Updating is quite easy actually. Delete all files but nxt_db & keystore.

FYI, newcomers!
Did you know you can mine NXT (and buy Ardor with it on the Nxt Asset Exchange!) in the Lucky node project?
Computational and bandwidth requirements are very low - some users run it on a Raspberry Pi.
Run the node 24/7 or as often as you can while you work or play.
Join in with the over 100 nodes that are already in the project.
