When the new wallet is released... What is the risk of someone using the old wallet. Will the old wallet stop working?
The risk is that the original developer may try to transfer his premined coins to another address, which will result in a fork. Those then with the new wallet are protected as their network/blockchain will not accept any transactions of those coins, but those with the old wallet may accept the other fork of the blockchain. Basically the same risk that exists with all forks for all coins. If that happens, they will need to take their wallet.dat, upgrade to the new wallet, and redownload the blockchain (it's not the end of the world, just an inconvinience).

In 2 months, when we decrease the PoS rate from 100% to 80%, the old wallets will continue at their 100% staking, so there will be a mandatory fork then, and the old wallets will become totally incapable of being on the right network.
pretty big risk. we already know these fucktards dont like risk and loss. how they gonna deal with this disaster when it happens.

plus we really dont trust the fucking asiacoin scam dev do we? what if he just read this and plans on doing this?

deadcoin/shitcoin/scamcoin/zombiecoin

Actually risk is low .. even if the coin hard forks, all you need to do to get on the right fork is download the new wallet, delete your block chain and redownload it the right blockchain.  Your coins in wallet.dat will be the same.

The only real thing to note is : don't use the old wallet until the new wallet is released and you haven't upgraded.  Once you upgrade .. you are grovy.

Please read the rest. Your question is answered in the text you quoted. It's not a big risk, just that it forces people who haven't upgraded, to upgrade to the new wallet and redownload the blockchain. Inconvenience, not a disaster.

If you're happy with our work on AsiaCoin revival, please consider giving us trust feedback and provide donations to the new AsiaCoin Foundation.

WOW, I was duped and thought AC had the most fair launch ever. I hope the new DEV team can turn this coin around.

The new wallet has been confirmed to work perfectly on windows by multiple sources. We are waiting for more exchanges to confirm. Maestro1 will let you know soon.

I'm sure this has been asked a 100 times already, but I have a real job and no way to read 43 pages to find it. How do I recover my 100k coins? They are still in the old wallet that has been running nonstop.
I have a real job as well. I didn't read all 40+ pages in one seating. Help yourself and at least read the first page or visit the website, www.thecoin.asia, for the news and FAQ.

Hi ORiN. Nice of you to jouin the convo. I appreciate you being such an ass, and in fact did read. I think what this coin needs in strength, not asshats. By first page you meant the original thread? or this one? or the faq? or the news? In fact man, I asked for a simple bit of help as I do not have the time to read pages and pages to keep up with one coin I believed in. I do believe in it still but asshats like you run folks off. Maestro summed it up, and told me all I needed to know. Thanks for helping asshat.

It's hard to believe the devs have come so far in reviving the coin and restoring faith once and for all, and especially in spite of the absolute shit cassius69 relentlessly continues to spit out. How anyone can be so diligent in spewing not only FUD but spiteful hatred is beyond me. Perhaps there's an agenda there?

Kudos to you guys who, in spite of the obvious lack of intent to do something productive, still address his posts.

Now it seems to me on what little time I have had to catch up on the coin, that no one should use their wallet in the current state. Correct me if I am wrong, but we all should wait for the 2.0 wallet. Unless ORiN sees different....

If I were you, I would hold it and wait for the new wallet to be released. I've tested the new windows wallet personally and it works perfectly.

I think u should hold for the longer term, i mean ppl just want to get money out, you guys should be aiming to help and ask to get more venders, better art, whatever ur talent is. I do not like this attitude of "Oh nice now i can get some of my money back", change ur mentality as Asiacoin itself is money.

Let them dump their AC.  The sooner they get transferred from weak hands to stronger ones, the better. :-)

Yes, the safest thing to do is actually not even TOUCH your old wallet (anyways you guys shouldn't take the risk because from a binary perspective we don't know what's compiled into it), as that was done by the original dev.

Instead wait for new wallet release ,download binaries (built by me personally).. this will protect you since you won't risk being on the wrong chain in the event that a fork happens.. anyways it saves you from redownloading the blockchain.  Booting up first time with new client will ensure that you have security patch running before connecting to other nodes/accepting blocks.

Btw, MintPal Jason is currently reviewing our changes right now.

Is there any risk that some ppl lose the coins they bought from dev tho?
