Doesn't have to be a bit coin auction site though. Those are ebay fees and how they make their money even if they accepted BTC it would still be the same.

There is one: cryptothrift. I'm sure there'll be many more that spring up as well. FTC also has an eBay-like marketplace on their site.

It hardly costs anything to list anyway. I think some categories might be free if they're auctions, but they always make their mark-up on the final value fees. It's pretty much pointless selling cheaper items on there once you factor in postage costs as well.

They have gotten rid of their listing fees, but now charge a higher final value fee, even on shipping costs now. Also, you have to pay the PayPal fee on the total sale, not the sale amount after eBay fees. Its ridiculous how they rob people.

Listing fees are still there on the UK site, and I think you get 100 free auction listings, but BIN you have to pay for. Final value fee is 10% usually.

What actually happened to bitmit? Why did it shut down? It wasn't a bad site but neither is cryptothrift.

You're right, they haven't gotten rid of listing fees, they just give you a certain amount of free ones. Ebays 10% + paypals fees can add up quick though, and after you pay for shipping it makes it harder make decent money. Coingig was a great bitcoin alternative to eBay also. They shut down a few months ago too.

And don't forget the risk of charge backs and item damages upon return. They get 45 days (somestimes more) to use what you sell, then they can create a dispute for "item not as described", send it back to you and get their full money back

problem with cryptothrift they dont do much in marketing and getting themselves out there, they need someone and something that can make them different. They probably don't have that much business and therefore money to go around splashing it on advertising at the moment, but I'm sure they'll see a natural growth over time. If you want to see places like these succeed then do your bit and keep telling people about them.

It's not the prettiest of sites, but it works fine and is simple and easy to use. I'm sure the design will improve over time. I think they might have mentioned they were working on a new look or site aswel.
