How else would you suggest eBay/paypal make their money?
q I don't think anyone resents the fact they charge fees, it's that they are quite high. Granted they corner most of the market, so many people just put up with it, a better site will come along one day I would expect. Cloakcoin is solving this issue with their OneMarket implementation. Anon decentralized marketplace integrated into the wallet. If you want to test out the platform #Onemarket on IRC freenode. http://www.cloakcoin.com/onemarket.pdfwww.cloakcoin.comhttps://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=637704.0Alot of coins have been implementing decentralised exchanges, sounds good.

the worst is how ebay and paypal double dip on you
you have to pay to list the item then get fees taken from the item sold then you have to pay the sold listing fee then your money goes to paypal and guess what they take something
just goes to show you can buy a company and then keep it aside so you can take more money in ebay owns paypal and its a win win

We've teamed up with a couple of suppliers for the launch. We will be providing the bulk of the products, however we've made sure there will be a bit of diversity. I am confident we can convince other sellers to join up. We just need you guys to tell your friends and bring the customers! I can't tell you the domain yet but all will be revealed shortly. We are just preparing for our beta launch hopefully next week.

The multiple fees are the very reason many people HATE Feebay and the other rip off payment processing site. Final value fee of 10% of your gross sale!?? Plus the fee they charge you for accepting payment thru PP makes it close to 15% when its all said and done - Its criminal. I know people will say, "You dont like the fees, dont use the site" but thats not the point. Its sketch on so many levels how they squeeze money from their customers... American capitalism at its finest. Shameful-

Shameful- Definitely with you guys on that one Paypal is a rip off Ebay is a giant rip off its just a bad taste of crony capitalism Everyone pays each other inside their own ecosystem. Then sometimes they offer free listings for ebay to draw some in but they still get to dip a few more times.

I really hate PayPal, good thing I found out about Bitcoin, my life is easier now Welcome aboard. iVory1 Im not sure how many years it will take, but PP will not last long (in its current state of operations). I cant wait for that day...im a former power seller on Feebay... I get misty eyed when thinking about how much money they have squeezed from me with their BS triple charge scams... Dont even get me talking about their one sided policy on Buyer protection. Being a Seller over there was like getting taxed by Mafia goons in the 30's

Seems like what ever the get their hands on the'll fudge us up the a hole some way or another, probably will charge higher fees just to use bitcoin.

I think it's inevitable that eBay/PayPal will accept bitcoin. There has been talk of it for quite sometime and just yesterday Wall Street Journal posted about Braintree (PayPal subsiduary) accepting PayPal. You can read that article here - http://online.wsj.com/articles/ebay-payment-unit-in-talks-to-accept-bitcoin-1408052917I just don't see them passing the savings onto the consumers to be honest. If they did it would eat at PayPals core business.

Not sure actually. Ebay really drives home the message that Paypal is for buyer protection. Perhaps that is a clever way to pave the way for other payment methods? Escrow services is pretty important in the Bitcoin universe.

That's what I guess too, there could be some minor changes in fees if they integrate Bitcoin into their system their but obviously not as big as their savings will be at first. Braintree already did so to a certain extent anyway and there was no advantage for the consumer. One can argue that the protection they offer is worth the cost, but it will be interesting to see what happens when people realize that with btc you can have such service in a more convenient way. I think anyway they will have to lower fees to stay in the game and they will have to redesign their platform to accomodate such changes.

Well it's your fault, read the fees before selling. It's riduculous, and nobody likes it.
We really need to make a switch. Someone make an eBay for bitcoin.

The sooner we have decentralized markets the better, probably be a few years til they reach the mainstream but when they do Ebay will be irrevalent.

It's also good for scamming buyers in case nothing goes wrong and they want there money back. I now ship everything tracked with signature. I have been increasingly getting a lot of paypal claims.
