Paypal is known to eat people's cash. Ebay made it mandatory for every seller/buyer to pay with Paypal so they can take fee out.

If a seller is caught accepting other currencies like BTC, he will be warned or possible banned.

eBay and PayPal are ridiculous.
I sold an item for £420. Got charged quite a bit just for the listing. eBay then took almost 10% and PayPal took another chunk too?
Ridiculous! eBay needs competition NOW!

Doesn't have to be a bit coin auction site though. Those are ebay fees and how they make their money even if they accepted BTC it would still be the same.

They're making way more cash than they need to. Paypal is owned by eBay now so basically they're double charging like greedy idiots. The sad thing is they're the only widely known site where you can sell things, basically what every business does when they start to get big. They have no loyalty to their customers.

I got charged today 16€ paypal + the refund to the buyer because he cancelled his credit card after I shipped the item. Now I don't have the money, I have to pay 16€ to PayPal, and the buyer has the item.

Reading stuff like this make me want to puke.
Its almost like Ebay encourages new buyers to scam good, established sellers.

They are removing the ebay paypal relationship or considering removing it
That's like killing their golden goose and the reason people are forced to use ebays and pay the fees but at least they realized that their leader position is seriously threatened.

I dont think they encourage it, but if you know their policies, you can easily scam by abusing the system.  I've been buying and selling there for years, usually the policies work well.  But there are some wierd rules that can be easily abused, such as PayPals no digital goods policy.  Overall the system works well, but they dont ever seem to try and put their foot down and stop fraud.

Yup,  ebay hosts the auction for you and makes their money off of FEES.

Frankly, sometimes it is worth it seeing as how much time spent/lost on trying to sell local or on other websites. At least with ebay you can reach a larger audience and simply sell your item and not let the fee weigh down the time you saved.

Exactly, the exposure makes it worth it (even if we hate the fees). Do to the scammyness of gumtree and craigslist both buyers and sellers are funnelled into a premium environment which even eBid can't compete with.

And that doesn't even take into account that sometimes you are scammed because of Paypal refunds.

Lost waaay too many $$$ from Ebay's extortionate fees, final straw was having a large payment reversed by Paypal.

Back in the day, the fees were nowhere near as high as they are today. This is exactly why we need marketplaces like Open Bazaar.

paypal is only good if you are a buyer.

Very true. I feel pretty comfortable using it to buy stuff, but dread getting paid in it as I'm always dreading the fated chargeback. Will be interesting to see if paypal ever encorporates bitcoin and how they habndle it and stuff like chargebacks.
