I can express it simply as freedom against our government. A government full of corruptions and oppressions. Bitcoin gives us freedom from earning financially without the control of government, organizations or burglar politicians who steals money from us/people. That what freedom means for me, it let us control our own self and not under by someone or anyone.

Yes ,bitcoin provides us freedom from fiat currency,but unfortunately not everything is possible in bitcoin,you cannot spend everything in bitcoin and government officials are arresting innocents for using bitcoin in a few countries.Some of the Banks are not even aware of bitcoin(not Central Bank,other local banks ) . Because banks know that ultimately every individual has to come to a bank one day.
But whatever the reason bitcoin has been created it may or maynot fulfil its promise,because i cannot assure you about bitcoin's future,but for sure hell it will create a huge impact on this world.

Bitcoin is certainly freedom in one regard. Obviously we do have to trust miners and people running nodes that they are not jeopardizing the system in a bad way.

There is still some trust and hopefully we all are still on the same page and miners stick to validating transactions because it is in their economic best interests. Once it isn't, that is the part where I get afraid...

I've checked the thread date and make me realized where I have been to this past few years (2014). Freedom may present at those days as bitcoin is just starting making its name but now (2016) that freedom may just a myth for more and more countries has legalized bitcoin and implemented rules and regulations. I don't say it's a bad thing either.

They are not actually into crypto's but they are adopting the blockchain technology. But I have read some banks that they are trying to adopt bitcoin and some other major alt coins. This is a good news though because they will add demand to bitcoin but the bad thing is bitcoin will be taxed and we can't live with freedom anymore.

What is up with you guys about hating taxes? For people who don't know Bitcoin earnings are also taxable under income tax, and if you are earning Bitcoin even online it is taxable within your country. The point about paying taxes is you become oart of your country in terms of development and progression. Not sharing your part of the burden will only hinder the development of your own country it will even create a ripple effect that will soon affect you.
