Good to hear GoldSeal. I too am holding out for higher values. I have mined everything I have...that's only about 90k though :/

At the current price it's ridiculously cheap.  I would buy all I could given this is such an excellent niche market coin with a great name, developers and even owns the domains.  Besides an Massive Hash network, That's as solid as it gets for an alt-coin.  $.002 for a coin with true potential and people are paying $14 per coin for a hyped up ShitCoin like DRK which has ZERO competitive advantages - just more copy and paste features.

If I can free up more BTC I would buy more but for now I'm very happy to have what I got at such a great price.

Quick question.

Anybody remember how many Satoshis CSC went up to during the last crypto boom, last nov?

Cause i think the next boom this summer will be bigger [and more sustained] and I think next year will be bigger than all the booms combined.

Thanks!

I looked at the charts but from my experience you can't always trust them.  But if you guys remember CSC hitting 20,000 Satoshi then that's good enough for me.

That would be a near 100 fold from here.  That's crazy to think about.  Amazing potential.  Let's lock up all the coins!  lol.

looks like all the net hash is currently on one pool, all the other pools listed on the .org website seem to be down, I don't see how this is a good thing  Undecided

Cant be good when one pool gets 250mh/s dumped on it all at once.. Edit ** I am only talking about the push pools.. I don't know about the p2p pools.. i have not had good luck with them.. I must have picked a bad one Angry

The Casinocoin p2pool is still going with at least 5 nodes. Hashrate is down to about 4 Mh/s though so we need more miners :/

Ok So I was looking at the numbers this morning and here's the tentative plan with regard to the changes that we'll put into the next release:

1.) Reduction in the total number of coins from 336 million to 63 million - This puts us 3:1 with Bitcoin, so it keeps the math easy for people.
2.) acceleration of block halving - Given that we&ve already minted 22 million coins, I'm thinking that we should cut this to 25 somewhere around block 500k and then further half the block reward every 1051200 (1 year) following this until we hit the cap of 63 million coins.

This should mean that all casinocoin are are minted within a little over two more years with the money supply effectively doubling in the next year.
Code:
Year Height Reward Coins
0 0 50 25000000
1 500000 25 51280000
2 1551200 12.5 63000000
3 2602400 0 63000000
4 3653600 0 63000000
5 4704800 0 63000000

Mind you that these are rough numbers. 500k block height is actually slightly less than 25 million coins. Ok, so this is what I'm thinking to implement. If anyone wants to weigh in on this, please give comments, offer suggestions, or tell me why we shouldn't do this. If general consensus is that we will go ahead with these changes, then I'll bang them out and we can coordinate the next release for maybe 2 -3 weeks out to give everyone time to get ready.

So, everyone - tell me what you think.

Do you wanna mint some 40 million coins in just 2 years?  That's really high inflation which will keep a lot of downward pressure on the price.

And this inflation would be a huge sudden acceleration from today's inflation rate.  That would be a big sudden negative.

And what about securing the network, in 2 years what's the plan, PoS?  PoS does not secure a coin as well as PoW.

Personally i would set it up a bit more gradual, give it closer to 5 years [or more] to fully mint.  That way people can mine Casino but they'll also have to buy it if they want it in larger quantities, and it would alleviate some of the selling pressure while also giving CSC more time to be secured by a PoW network which will grow much larger [and Thus, more secure] in the next few years due to ASICS.

I'm cool with whatever you guys decide but that's my 2 cents.

Regards.

I like the idea, but i think maybe a little premature to do in 2 weeks, there are still a lot of pools listed on the website that are not working, or mining, and you are still unable to withdraw or deposit CSC on cryptsy, personally I think some of that needs to be fixed soon, before another fork, or the community will suffer anyway, why 3:1 and not 4:1? just wondering? I think 2 years is too fast as well, the chain is not that secure due to lack of people digging...but what do I know.. im just a dumb ol' miner

We could slow it down. However, we'd need to cut the block reward more aggressively. Here is the specs if we were to drop the block reward to a permanent 10 CSC per block. This would cut the new coins minted to approximately 5 million/year and it would take 4 years to get to 63 million.  Does this seem more reasonable?

Code:
Year Height Reward Coins
0.0 0 50 0
0.5 525600 10 26280000
1.0 1051200 10 31536000
1.5 1576800 10 36792000
2.0 2102400 10 42048000
2.5 2628000 10 47304000
3.0 3153600 10 52560000
3.5 3679200 10 57816000
4.0 4204800 0 63000000
4.5 4730400 0 63000000
5.0 5256000 0 63000000

I think we'll see more hashing power very soon. ASICs will be hitting pretty hard this summer.

Cryptsy has always had wallet problems of one sort or another. They usually get these things sorted pretty quickly.

As for the 40 mil, we can certainly stretch this out, but again we're talking about instituting some pretty immediate and drastic cuts in the block reward to do so.

Does 4 weeks seem workable or should we go longer? We just need to keep in mind that at the present rate, we're creating 144000 new coins per day. Roughly 4.3 million new coins per month.
