Is it for sure that Cryptsy uses 1.2v? Looks like their tech support replies with generic phrases and they don't really know whats going on. Maybe  its better to contact BitJohn or who is in charge of technical stuff there...

Best I can tell, I'll need to run a few seed nodes with MIN_PEER_PROTO_VERSION set to 70003 when the new client is officially released. This will help with syncing. Then after we get significant distribution of the new clients with MIN_PEER_PROTO_VERSION = 70004, I can change the seeds to require a MIN_PEER_PROTO_VERSION of 70004. Does this make sense for the eventual release or is this overkill?

How did it go during the last upgrade?

I'm gonna repeat back what you said outloud to see if it makes sense...

The plan is to create several seeds with the new PROTOCOL_VERSION set to 70004 but keep MIN_PEER_PROTO_VERSION = 70003.
Then tell as many people as possible to move to the new release(70004 aka 1.3).  This version will have MIN_PEER_PROTO_VERSION = 70004

Then once a significant number of people are on 70004 you will remove the seeds with MIN_PEER_PROTO_VERSION = 70003.  (and if necessary replace them with MIN_PEER_PROTO_VERSION = 70004)

Seems like it makes sense but how have other coins done this in the past?
Are you in contact with admins at the bigger pools to make sure they are ready to move?

I'm a little concerned that cryptsy still doesn't have their wallet working.  Might be a good idea to make sure they know about the upgrade and if possible have them fix their current wallet first.

This will cause the new wallet to never say it's in sync :/

Last wallet update has only nodes to the new chain, so no problem with the sync

The source code was updated to only connect to new wallet nodes but I don't think the binaries for Windows were updated. It was added shortly after the binaries were released.

I think the main source of the hashrate on the old chain may be coming from this pool:

http://us-east1.cryptovein.com:8840/

Have messaged the admin but no response Sad

Finally got them to update. It looks like they were checking the old GIT page and thinking they were up-to-date until I told them of the new GIT page  Undecided

I believe casinocoin coordinated with them during the last release and they were one of the first ones on 1.2.

It seems they use proxies and those 500 errors happen occasionally when their proxies have issues.

We need more exchange sites to be able to get a real value...

Yesterday I had an email exchange with someone from Mintpal. I asked him to add the coin and he urged me to vote stating that they would periodically add the top coin. In response, I told him that we aren't interested in voting and very bluntly asked him how much we'd have to pay to just get them to add it. Let's see if he makes an offer.

Important Announcement:

We've added two new opt-in mailing lists to help distribute announcements for Casinocoin more effectively. Don't worry. We're not selling you anything and we won't be sending out more than a couple mails per month at most. This is more to broadcast version updates. release notifications, etc for pools and services. This allows pool owners or other interested parties to tell us they want an email when something comes out that may affect them.

So, if you operate a pool or similar service that relies on running a Casinocoin wallet and would like to be notified of new client releases, hard forks, or service issues affecting the Casinocoin network, then please sign up for the "Casinocoin Development News" mailing list here: http://eepurl.com/WGcoP

If you are a general user and would like general news notifications regarding Casinocoin, we are providing a "Casinocoin Announcements" mailing list. Please signup here if you wish to receive these notifications: http://eepurl.com/WGeu1

Thank you!

I subscibed to the mailinglist. Good initiative! Do we have to inform Cryptsy and Litebit about this list or are they already on the list?

A few signups are trickling in already. We'll send a few emails. If you can, please inform your pool operators. They are harder for us to track.

**update** - I sent the info to both cryptsy and litebit through their contact forms.
