Does XC has an official twitter account? As we know, most of the times the road to a new feature makes the price go up. When anonymity is finished, price may go up a little, but not much. People like to buy on forehand. Why is it the XC creators are not actively advertising on twitter what they are trying to accomplish? People are searching on altcoin names whole day long on twitter and often make a decision to buy or not.

+1

Also agree XC could do with someone dedicated to marketing. there is very little at the moment.

You don't market a product until it is ready. Evan Duffield waited for almost 6 months before he started marketing DRK actively.

I don't think that's correct. You market anything that has public exposure and stands to gain or lose from the nature of that exposure.

Call it PR rather than marketing, perhaps, if it makes more sense.

Yeah this is what I meant. I'm not saying promote it as a finished product. But it certainly wouldn't hurt to get the word out a bit more about what we've got so far, and whats in the pipeline! Smiley

Exactly. XC needs a coherent, cogent story told of it. It needs a well-publicised development plan, and candid daily reports on progress, unsolved problems, and plans of attack. The way Vitalik Buterin writes about Ethereum is an excellent example of pre-release PR: it's no-nonsense, technical, clearly written, and engaging. It inspires confidence.

--> http://blog.ethereum.org/

If something goes wrong or is unsolved, we need to be the first people to report it and to tell the story properly. If something big is in the pipeline, we owe it to the community to publicise it well and engage people.

That way, we'd not only avoid a ton of FUD, but we'd attract great dev talent and all kinds of other expertise. It would be huge.

100% This! Cant stress how important i think this is.

Thanks for updating the first page of this thread.  It's much more helpful now.

Also, I can't wait for the logo contest to be over so that we can get a more professional logo.

Compared to the other coins the XC logo looks a little unprofessional on

http://cryptocoinstats.com/
and
http://coinmarketcap.com/

Speaking of the logo, I know that a vote has been planned, but I'm not convinced the designs submitted are quite where they need to be yet. The best of them are skeuomorphic and don't sufficiently distinguish themselves from the morass of altcoins out there. I know a top notch designer; we could get her (or anyone else) in.

How about it?

That said, there's merit in getting a broader service from a marketing/PR company. We need a brand, not just a logo.

You can refer to the user guide.
i know its probably been said a bunch but its not in the ann... what flags & config steps are needed to setup/run xnode... I hear its simple but that its more than just running the batch file, or rather when i ran just that batch file i didnt seem to be accomplishing anything.  Also maybe a good writeup could be part of the announce, or on the wbesite, or on your forum or anywhere really...  Thanks in advance!

Make X11Coin.cong and put in there:
listen=1
rpcuser=changeuser
rpcpassword=changepass
reservebalance=10000
addnode=west01.xcnode.xc-official.com
addnode=east01.xcnode.xc-official.com
addnode=west02.xcnode.xc-official.com

 After that only run run-xc-xnode-mainnet.bat. reservebalance=10000 is example from manual, can be any ammount you want. In this release 15XC is needed for node, it is only for testing purposes.
 Ofc download latest wallet or it shall not work...
520bit you could just post the user guide link, I wasnt able to find this info, apparently others cant either...
nevermind i found the user guide... http://xc-official.com/user-guides.html  (hint, its empty)

$MAID & $BTC other than that some short hodls and some long held garbage.

Perhaps, but has there been conversation about whether a key embodies the sort of narrative XC would best suit? That's what I mean by branding. It's almost like seigniorage in currency-creation: it commodifies previously untapped resources in the nature of the coin, just as seigniorage commodifies previously untapped aspects of the world. A good marketing person would get deep into the details of the coin, its tech, its vision, its people, and put together a narrative and a set of concrete elements (logo, site, etc.) that tell/embody this story. We need this.

Which logo do you mean, btw?

XC should have a slogan contest and then get an advert on coinmarketcap.com i think...

Advertising would be key.  There are a bunch of crypto coin sites that are a bargain to advertise on.

I think a heavy advertising campaign before we have a tested and working decentralized anon system would be a mistake.  Decentralized anon is the core of XC and until that is working flawlessly, an advertising campaign would be a disaster.

+1. Advertising no, PR yes.

Also, slogans are pretty 1980s. Do we need that in our brand?

I think it has strengths, like looking like the sort of thing one would find on the door of a safe.

However it's skeuomorphic. That faux brushed steel and those colour gradients are a fad from a few years back.

There's also reason to consider how it will be at odds with the aesthetics of mobile app design, since a major part of XC's development is mobile and POS integration. Mobile app design has a minimal, flat, colourful look. Take, for example, the latest Skype logo. This XC logo will just look dated and out of place in that environment.
