Suggestion for good power supply for s3 Huh

thanks
Suggestion for good power supply for s3 Huh

thanks

I will use my 2 corsair CX750M that im using right now with 2 S1.

366W S3 without overclock, so no problem if you overclock, you have 750W and a very good PSU like Corsair.

How much W S3 overclocked?? 488W?

As per the datasheet values below, S3 can be overclocked to 504Ghs and further to 554Ghs.
The stock clock speed is set in between 225M and 250M and voltage per chip lies in between 0.72Vand 0.75V per chip (366W/S3).
When overclocking to 504Ghs it will be consuming around 390W at 250M Clockspeed.
And when overclocking to 554Ghs the clock speed might be 275M and power consumption around  488Watts.
Further overclocking may not be possible, everything lies in finding the sweet spot frequency.
Take a look at DC-DC converters, they are a lot in nos, do you have any idea? Even this new chip consumes lower voltage than S1.

S3 Datasheet Values
Voltage(V) | Hash Rate(GH/s) | Current(A) | Total power(W) | W/GH
0.72                14.18                 10.40             7.49             0.528
0.75                15.75                 12.24             9.18             0.583
0.80                17.33                 15.20            12.16            0.702
0.85                17.33                 20.00            17.00            0.981

Thanks! But its as simple as overclocking S1 just using VI and changing values? 504 GH/s would be great if its 390W

UK Buyers get ready to be utter stung!!

http://www.dutycalculator.com/

Just done a quick calculation and its nasty over £1200 +

since no one reported yet about charges in uk for customs your calculation is pure speculation. which creates unnecessary stress.

We got stung with charges with the S1 and S2, why wouldn't we get charged import duty this time.

Just bought 2 S3(1.48 BTC). Now i just have to wait till i have all confirmations and i will receive email with delivery details, right?

Yes, you are right. On the Bitmain web just check status of your order.

wasn't that bad with s1 as ups and customs didn't knew what miner was. now they know so duty will be charged
but Bitmain have massive influence in that as they selling in pairs which creates to expensive toys. I was ready to buy 8 in one go but will wait for reports from UK Buyers and than or will made order or will look for something within price range in uk already. silly that s3 is not the only charge. customs, ups charge,  psu must be redone to fit s3 or new psu. soon we will realise that to overclock you need change your old corsair cx500 for new with 4 pcie. just saying.

Everyone in the World get stung by customs (except the US if it is labelled right), why should the UK be any different Wink

Everyone needs to accept CUSTOMS charges and TAX, isn't that what makes the WORLD (governments) work Huh

What I mean is. If we're/you're making money then the government (the Crown in the UK) has to make money too Smiley

Thats all well and fine but when you pay 0.5btc or about £140 for 1 s1 you woukd expect £140 on declaration for uk customs. Thats wasnt the case for me and had to pay £90 on VAT. Also in tech terms we all pay in btc which isnt monetary value so we shouldnt have to pay anything. Not to mention free shipping!!

When they do their shipping the question on the forms are  how much there worth, it should be how much the customer paid. But regardless. Bitcoin has no value till bitmain cashout.

I have to admit, £90 is over the top, I had to pay around £22 on my s1's. I think UK customs charge what they feel is right at the time Wink

That's not only on miners but everything that gets imported from China/Hong Kong Sad

A major factor can be the delivery service you choose, for example, DHL WILL charge more than UPS Huh

Suggestion for good power supply for s3 Huh

thanks

well you are buying  a 2 pack.   so  you could get a really good overkill evga for 194.99 with 20 off for later.

So, are you telling me that for example in my case, i paid for a pair, 1,48 BTC, if when they deliver S3, BTC value is 1000$, thats what they will declare as value???

BTW, the EVGA 1300 SuperNova G2 has only 6 PCI-E. If you want to overclock two S3, you need 8 PCI-E. I guess you can buy some adapters to fit the two missing.

I went for a Corsair RM-1000.

No, EVGA1300 G2 has 8 connectors: 4x1 (single) and 2x2(double)=8
I have it, so I checked.

what an nonsense. did you actually took time to read or just post B'S because you can? did I complained about tax or amount we paying thanks to nonsense from bitmain when they posting items?

example:

at the beginning when s1 was like 1.45btc I paid 22£ for each customs.

Later when they was below 1 btc  was paying 40 something per box.

now ,when s1 was like .39 btc after coupon i still had to paid 47£ per box.

nothing has been done to help us reduce the overall cost of miner even though real price of miner changed significantly.
but when RMA must be done bitmain asking to declare 10$. If anyone asking for something why we should expect different? why not declare real item like server or computer part? instead better be good boy and let's give headache on the other side of the water.

not mention that ups charging you as well what ever they want.  They will not give you receipt even. cash on delivery or fuck off.  Try to ask ups fella to back up charge with receipt. In my case this was end of world for him. tried to explain they don't give receipt.if that's the case why they charging?
bitmain paying once for parcel and we.are paying again. aparently delivery is included within price...

Good point there lol. Im not gonna be getting any s3's if i got an s3 i would get same reward as when i had 2 s1 2 months ago. In another month or so ill need another s3 to keep up. Unless i can guarantee what the customs charge will be it not worth the hassle.

As per the datasheet values below, S3 can be overclocked to 504Ghs and further to 554Ghs.
The stock clock speed is set in between 225M and 250M and voltage per chip lies in between 0.72Vand 0.75V per chip (366W/S3).
When overclocking to 504Ghs it will be consuming around 390W at 250M Clockspeed.
And when overclocking to 554Ghs the clock speed might be 275M and power consumption around  488Watts.
Further overclocking may not be possible, everything lies in finding the sweet spot frequency.
Take a look at DC-DC converters, they are a lot in nos, do you have any idea? Even this new chip consumes lower voltage than S1.

S3 Datasheet Values
Voltage(V) | Hash Rate(GH/s) | Current(A) | Total power(W) | W/GH
0.72                14.18                 10.40             7.49             0.528
0.75                15.75                 12.24             9.18             0.583
0.80                17.33                 15.20            12.16            0.702
0.85                17.33                 20.00            17.00            0.981

Questions on this chart.   do we come at the .75 volt setting stock or the .80 setting stock.

Seems to me that the real value is the .72 volt setting   at .528 w/gh  so my question is if we can do

.72 volts and hash 14.18 GH/s   using only 7.49 watts a chip  can we do a little lower?

Would .69 volts  get 13.8 gh/s       9 amps   6.21  watts and  .450 w/gh?

It would be really nice to find out the low end of these    along with the over clock
