So aaannnnnyyy way...

I'm seriously questioning if my gtx 780ti is actually pulling ~60MH/s

I solved a number of blocks at 16MH/s with my r9 270oc yet I've picked up zippo on the 780ti.

Even taking the fluctuating difficulty into account, I should have gotten something by now.

Has anyone else had experience on windows with the CUDA miner?

...by open sourcing the project before its completion would open the doors to a million scam clones.

This will be the excuse for years to come.  In case you haven't noticed, people are forking Ethereum and soon Ripple.  People are trying different parameters.  Do you know what the reality is?  Those scam clones lose steam after about 30 days.  Buy support disappears.  They can't maintain the veneer of community or the lies of "development".

It is ironic that this community is afraid of the one thing that would set this project free.

Don't sit here and try to defend closed-source code for a public blockchain anymore, it's bullshit and you all know it.

Why don't you try writing/creating something equivalent or better to Niro, spend a year on it, and launch everything in one day.

Not really the best move.

Satoshi open-sourced Bitcoin 8 days after the genesis block was created. Open-sourcing the code is as simple as uploading the code to Github.

I don't see your point because you are trying to divert the discussion from being about open-source to putting Viz on a pedestal.  Viz is not a God he is just a human being that has become corrupted by his own desire to control a project that most of the original community have left due to the centralized control of the project.  Now he is talking about patenting the code-base.  That is antithetical to open-source.

I for one will not contribute anything to this project until the code is open-sourced so I can see if it is malicious or not, or full of bugs.  I will not take anyone else's word for it - that's the whole point of this revolution, we don't need to trust or have faith in anyone because the code is there for us to see.

You are certainly free to have that opinion about open versus closed source and the debate is welcome.  However, for you to attack Viz and call him corrupt is really uncalled for and quite ridiculous.  It sounds self-serving to me as though you have a hidden agenda.

I'm pretty sure he would agree with me that he has been corrupted long ago by his own desires to control the direction of the project and the codebase.  This project was going to be open-sourced at 1.0.3, but the can continues to get kicked down the road.  It wasn't until I read that he is looking to patent the codebase that I realized this project will never be a community project whatsoever.

Viz can literally fork the blockchain at any moment since everyone is running his binaries and/or give himself as many coins as he wants by a simple line of code in the source that nobody knows about.

Oh, but Niro supposedly fixes all of Bitcoin's problems -- including that silly blockchain trust and open-source problem.

Well considering he started the platform, I suppose he can do what he feels necessary to bring his vision to fruition.  Sure, I understand the risks of closed source and your concerns, but I'm not concerned here at all.  I see many good reasons to patent certain aspects of blockchain technology.  I guarantee that IBM will be patenting its platform.  Why hand them and others like them the keys to the kingdom?

Yes, he can do whatever he wants but that doesn't mean being a cheerleader and following blindly without criticizing him is good for the project.  In fact, criticism and disagreements about the direction of projects is essential to success.  Many corporations and centralized structures become inefficient and uncompetitive because they disregard the criticisms of their supporters and employees.

Calling people out when they renege on their multiple promises to open-source is important and I think Viz would agree with me here that he has been disorganized and likely working inefficiently due to the centralized control of Coinshield/Nexus.

Never said it was a bad thing.  In fact I said the debate was welcome.  It was your use of the word "corrupt" to describe Viz that I disagree with.  That's a personal attack.  Not a debate.

Maybe "corrupt" isn't a fair characterization, disingenuous is better I suppose.

It does not matter at all if coin is closed source or open source.
It has no influence on coins success or failure at all.

Decentralized and opensource are just words.

Keep using a miner that doesn't even support this coin, well done, keep at it.

Stellar is a Ripple Fork. Code can be forked and modified and new ideas tried and tested, some will last, some won't. Litecoin was based on Tenebrix/Fairbrix and became something better.

I love open source myself, although I think Viz is very trustworthy and this is his project and he put in all the time.

That link is to source code not overly useful unless he can compile it.

I've never compiled a thing in my life but with some help I could have a shot at it. I simply tried out cestballots miner because I thought it would just work out of the box so to speak.. It runs, but yeah, can't but help feel as though it wasn't actually working. - http://www.cestballot.fr/downn/nexus/Niro_miner/GPU-solo-Miner/

What's painful is that I had that from square one but I was over thinking the whole process and didn't even try to run it.. I feel like such an idiot.. Mining was never this simple when I started back in the day...

Maxes out at 41.9MH/s. Stable at ~41.6 +-0.3 and I solved a block in the first 5 mins... This got to be my most epic facepalm moment in my life....

Can I add anything to .bat to try squeeze out more performance or can I only go as far as overclocking the card itself directly?

COOLERbyPSP... Thank you so much. After 24 hours of mining, I'll send you a tip depending on how many blocks I solve.

looks like we can't add anything

As you wish. Glad that I can help anyone Smiley

You can also modify your .bat file like this for 24/7 work
Code:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 1
:BEGIN
Release\skminer.exe  127.0.0.1:9325
GOTO BEGIN

To be perfectly honest, I think pools help centralise mining. So maybe right now, in the early stages... its not really a necessity is it?
